poppin' outta control
I had noticed this before with my oil making. However, now I come out with a perfect oil every time, identical to the last. The trick for me was not to touch the oil until all the bubbles have popped. Never let the heat go above 200'F, and whip your oil once the bubbles have gone. Some strains require 30 strait min of whipping over heat, and some take 5 min. Either way, wip until all the goo is gone, and you are left with pure, sticky powdery, BHO. My batches have been just perfect as of late.
Your oil on the left looks more like my final product. The oil on the right needs more whipping. Either that or your oil on the right got to hot. If you are putting it over boiling water, that is too hot.
Your saying that the budder consistency looks more like your finished product than the amber-like? (my budder consistency was on left, ambery on right) So the amber one needs more whipping? I'm actually 95% positive that I whipped the one on the right that turned amber longer than the one that stayed as a opaque budder. No doubt, that means that heat was added longer to it as well.. So I dont think it was lack of stirring that made the oil on the right amberish in color. Anyone else have any input on if the outside temperature has much effect on whether oil comes out amber or opaque? (If you remember back from my post 635, the day batch that was done w/ a outside temp of 55 degrees came out like butter, and the night batch that came out amberish was done at night w/ a outside temp of 20 degrees)
For you bullfrog- my main question is were you saying that you prefer your product to look like budder as opposed to the translucent stuff that was on the right in my pic?
