yeah, well its good thing to ponder

And we dont think about that even outside butane fumes can sink to the feet of an unsuspecting human

And just one static spark from clothing can set it off

You might never see it coming

We have seen the children burned by this....not too cool

And then they have to live like that forever

Ironically cannabis oil can help heal them...

Ive heard lavender oil is amazing healer of burns

people should look into the iso 2 and iso 3 machines for oil production
https://skunkpharmresearch.com/iso-3-by-d-gold/

maybe pick up a rosin press....but dont mess with these areosol solvents

let the pros do it....And they probably favor CO2

Ontario Provincial Police say a 31-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after a house fire in Pembroke was linked to a drug lab.

OPP were called to the home on D’Arcy Street March 8, after an explosion and fire. An adult man and a three-month-old baby were inside at the time. Both were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Police say Child and Family Services is aware of this incident and is conducting an investigation.

The police investigation revealed that a secret marijuana hash oil extraction lab had exploded. A warrant was executed Friday.

31-year-old Kurt Dehaan, of Petawawa, is charged with several counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of producing a schedule II substance, one count of arson by negligence, and one count of possession of counterfeit currency.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and involves the Ontario Fire Marshall.

2 people burned in Boulder home explosion that police believe was drug-related
By John Bear
Staff Writer

POSTED: 03/15/2018 09:19:25 PM MDT | UPDATED: ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO

Boulder police and fire are investigating a house explosion at a home in south Boulder that left two adults with serious injuries on Thursday night.

The explosion happened at a home on the 4600 block of Macky Way shortly after 8:30 p.m. and is believed to be drug-related, according to a news release. The release did not state what type of drugs are involved, but radio traffic indicated that the explosion was first reported as a lightning strike but then as an explosion involving hash oil.

Macky Way was lined with fire trucks on Thursday night, and large number of firefighters could be seen entering a home. Police also had a large presence on scene and could be seen talking to someone seated in the back of a police car.

A neighbor who declined to give his name said he heard a "boom" and drove his car onto Macky, where he saw two badly burned people who pleaded with him for a ride to the hospital. He said he took the two people to a hospital and returned to the neighborhood, where he spoke to police.

The man said that he didn't know the people who he took to the hospital but is familiar with the people who live in the home.
Another neighbor who also declined to give his name described hearing and feeling a "big boom."

"We thought something fell on our house," he said. "It was really loud."

Neighbors said the neighborhood is generally very quiet.

Woman Arrested after Honey Oil Lab Explosion in Stockton Gated Community
POSTED 2:59 PM, MARCH 15, 2018, BY JOE KHALIL, UPDATED AT 03:00PM, MARCH 15, 2018

STOCKTON -- A woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a butane honey oil lab explosion at a Stockton home on Pebble Beach Drive in the Brookside neighborhood.
Two men, ages 40 and 33, were severely burned and are in critical condition. In video obtained by FOX40, one man was seen with most of his clothes burned off.

The garage of the home and a vehicle were destroyed.

Investigators located about 500 pounds of marijuana, 40 pounds of finished honey oil and $80,000.

Erica Ham, 23, was arrested on narcotics manufacturing charges and one animal cruelty charge.

Police said code enforcement may have to demolish the home because of the extensive damage inside and out.

The home itself was valued at around $700,000, but the Brookside neighborhood is dotted with several million-dollar homes.

Neighbors told FOX40 they were blindsided by the explosion, that they had no idea what was happening inside the home.

"It'd be a good hideout for somebody doing drugs because it just doesn't happen here," contractor Mark Schnabel said.

This was a closed loop system operated indoors with apparently little to no ventilation according to other reports:

""In this one they were using a closed-loop extraction system, which is large capacity," said Sgt. Lance Manner of the San Joaquin County Narcotics Task Force."

"The "closed-loop extraction system" Sgt. Manner referred to above was designed to recirculate butane for greater efficiency and safety. Since even the professional rig went up in a fireball, you can judge for yourself the safety of ma and pa honey oil makers using butane aerosol and glass pipes or PVC or whatever in an unventilated room."

Bend residents burned in hash oil explosion
KYLE SPURR, March 20, 2018 at 09:45PM

Two Bend residents were seriously burned and a 3-year-old avoided injury Monday evening after an explosion in their home due to the illegal manufacturing of butane honey or hash oil, according to Bend Police.

Bend Police responded at 5:31 p.m. to a report of a loud boom in the area of NE Weddell Road and NE Hidden Valley Drive. Officers determined an explosion happened at 3058 NE Weddell Road No. 2, where they found David Carl Paulsen, 32, Jennifer Rose Paulsen, 32, and a girl, 3, inside the home at the time of the explosion.

Both adults were seriously burned and transported to St. Charles Bend by the Bend Fire Department. The 3-year-old girl was not injured, but was later evaluated at St. Charles as a precaution.

The duplex structure has significant damage from the explosion. The blast was strong enough to lift the roof off the building and move the foundation by about 4 inches, according to police.

The neighboring duplex resident was evacuated until the entire structure could be made safe.

Officers searched the Paulsens’ duplex and found evidence that showed the explosion was likely due to butane being used to extract THC, for the manufacture of butane honey or hash oil.

The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.

Hash oil, also known as honey oil, is derived from marijuana. The hash or honey is concentrated THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Hash oil is manufactured by using highly flammable materials, such as butane, to refine and concentrate the THC, making a product which can contain up to 90 percent THC, according to police.

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of marijuana butane hash oil lab explosions in Oregon in recent years, according to police.

The Bend Fire Department, the Oregon State Police arson and explosives unit, the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team, the Department of Human Services Child Welfare and the Red Cross are assisting with the investigation.

Think as the market crashes, and supply floods everywhere we will see more and more explosions. So many people with excess flowers, or so cheap to buy it, get it fronted, and try to blast it into cash.

Also with the excess supply and market crashing, people are blasting more often and at faster paces.

The stupidity amazes me. Locally, the one single apartment complex in the entire town, which had 4+ children living in it. Had an explosion recently. Ruined one apartment, nobody hurt luckily. They found 180 processed units, illegal firearm, and of course butane.

Think most of the explosions these days, the people are driven by money. Its not about medicine or even having really good smoke. Just about processing for cash.

So many other ways to safely make good medicine/smoke. Would be interesting to see statistics of butane labs exploding compared to meth labs. I wouldn't be shocked if butane is in the lead at this point.

99.9% of the explosions reported in this thread occurred due to insufficient ventilation along with unsuppressed ignition sources.

Butane and propane are superior solvents due to their non-polarity, low boiling points, non-toxicity, and extremely low odor.

HMK - I see my local legal delivery services are beginning to offer any nugg order squished for a small fee, nice. :thank you:

Police say Kennewick man blew up townhouse cooking hash oil
By Jake Dorsey
Tri-City Herald Mar 22, 2018

KENNEWICK, Wash. — A Kennewick man blew up a townhouse Wednesday while he was cooking hash oil, police said.

No one was hurt by the afternoon explosion at the townhouse off South Dawes Street, near Edison Elementary School, police said.

The explosion damaged the man’s townhouse and his neighbor’s, according to police.

The garage door was blown outward, and the glass windows in the back of the townhouse were blasted out.

Kennewick officers said they arrested Gabrial C. Schumacher, 37, after he allegedly tried to run away from officers responding to the explosion.

Firefighters had to put out the small fire that started because of the explosion. A building inspector was at the scene.

Hash oil is created by extracting and concentrating chemicals from cannabis with a solvent like butane, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The process can lead to a buildup of volatile gas that can explode if not ventilated.

If you asked the average BHO maker to fix a propane appliance or natural gas furnace would they?

There's a reason a propane and natural gas license is required. To me all BHO makers should have
the proper certifications and having the propane and natural gas license would be a step in the
right direction. If you can handle propane and natural gas safely. Butane usage will be easier
and much safer due to proper training.

Search warrant: Hash oil lab explosion likely caused by furnace
By Garrett Andrews
Published March 29, 2018 at 11:49AM / Updated March 29, 2018 at 08:32PM

The blast and flash fire that rocked a northeast Bend duplex unit March 18 were likely caused by a furnace kicking on and igniting butane that had gathered in the unit’s garage, according to a search warrant affidavit released Tuesday.

A husband and wife sustained serious burns in the explosion, which was associated with an alleged clandestine hash oil lab they were operating in their home.

The couple’s 3-year-old daughter avoided serious injury.

David Carl Paulsen, 32, and Jennifer Rose Paulsen, 32, have been charged with unlawful manufacture of a marijuana item and unlawful delivery of a marijuana item.

Bend Police recently released the request to search a gun safe seized in the investigation.

Just after 7 p.m. March 18, neighbors of the Paulsens reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing the Paulsens rushing around their driveway, according to the court documents. A neighbor who shares a driveway with the couple said Jennifer Paulsen asked if she could use the woman’s shower. The woman reported David Paulsen rinsed himself off outside her residence with her hose.

The witness told police David Paulsen next asked her to tell police that the couple’s 3-year-old daughter had been with her “the whole time.”

The woman said the child had in fact been outside when she first noticed her parents running around.

A different neighbor told police David Paulsen had run to stash a cardboard box and other items in his truck immediately after the explosion, the court documents state. An officer reported looking inside the truck and seeing that it contained butane cannisters. A search of the vehicle turned up other items believed to confirm the existence of a “butane honey oil” lab inside the home of David and Jennifer Paulsen.

Investigators allegedly found drug records, marijuana, butane, multiple firearms, a scale and a “marijuana packed extraction vessel,” the court documents state.

Police believe the Paulsens were extracting THC from marijuana plants using an “open blasting” method. This involves passing butane through marijuana to collect the THC. It’s said to release a large amount of butane into the atmosphere, according to the search warrant affidavit written by Bend Police Detective Nick Lee.

With butane being extremely flammable, it can ignite with as little as a spark from static electricity, Lee writes.

The only legal way to manufacture butane honey oil in Oregon is through the “closed loop” method, which is considered safer. These labs use a system of tubing, valves, tanks and recovery systems to keep the butane from entering the atmosphere. This method is considered safer, yet fires and explosions have occurred in Oregon in closed-loop systems, according to Bend Police.

Lack of ventilation and an ignition source. 20" box fans are available anywhere in the US for $20, place a few along the base of your partially opened garage door, and a couple more inside near the equipment blowing any vapors towards the door, $100 total.

Deputies suspect hash oil extraction after kitchen fire burns Lake County man

JULIE JOHNSON
THE PRESS DEMOCRAT | April 23, 2018, 10:17PM | Updated 2 hours ago.

Lake County sheriff’s officials said a Clearlake Oaks man was trying to make cannabis hash oil in a makeshift kitchen lab when the operation exploded and severely burned him.

Michael James Hoisington, 34, was airlifted to an undisclosed hospital after firefighters came to the scene on the 10000 block of Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks. Detectives are recommending Lake County prosecutors charge Hoisington with felony manufacturing of a controlled substance.

Hoisington was using butane to extract oil from marijuana in his kitchen when it started a fire and ignited a small explosion about 4:40 p.m. Friday, Lt. Corey Paulich said. Firefighters responded to the house and called deputies to investigate the extraction equipment. Deputies found a plastic bottle with marijuana, a can of butane and a shattered glass dish with a sticky substance that appeared to be concentrated cannabis, Paulich said. The extent of Hoisington’s injuries wasn’t clear.

Visalia explosion leads to discovery of 'small-scale' honey oil lab
Sheyanne N Romero, Published 5:49 p.m. PT April 23, 2018 | Updated 5:50 p.m. PT April 23, 2018

Two Visalia men are recovering from burn injuries at Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

They may face legal challenges while they heal from their injuries.

Visalia firefighters were called just after 3 p.m.to a structure fire at a two-story apartment complex at 303 NW Third Avenue.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames. While they worked, they noticed something was amiss and called police.

When police arrived they began questioning neighbors and residents of the apartment complex.

Witnesses told police two men with burn injuries were headed north on NW Third. The men were later taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.

Police didn't release the condition or the names of the men but said their injuries were "moderate."

Sgt. Damon Maurice said there was evidence of a "small-scale" butane honey oil lab in the unit.

Witnesses also told officers they saw two men carrying items from the top unit to a unit directly below before emergency crews arrived on scene.

Police believe the items were used to manufacture honey oil — a highly-dangerous process.

One person was inside the unit at the time of the explosion and was injured, Maurice said. A second man was injured but officers are unsure when or how he was burned.

Raquelle Tucker and her three children have lived at the complex for seven months. She went to pick her daughter up from school and returned to fire engines and police vehicles surrounding her home.

The Visalia woman said there are always issues at the apartment complex.

"It's been ridiculous. It's too much and I'm done," she said. "There is something constantly going on here. This doesn't surprise me."

Tucker's apartment is adjacent to the unit where the chemical explosion happened.

Residents were let back in shortly after crews had the fire out. Crews remained at the scene for more than an hour to ventilate the affected apartment.

Roads were blocked in the area while officers and crews investigated what caused the explosion.

No arrests have been made.

Narcotics detectives and Visalia Code Enforcement officers were called to the scene to continue the investigation.

Haven't extracted with isopropyl or similar in over 13-15 years. Have had some samples made by folks doing bho, and it was good.. but not worth cooking my home, or harming family, let alone having to apologize to, or face neighbors I don't care for, should I burn down the area..

While my pressed sieved hash may get redundant over time, and there's only so much variance in the buzz from my 6 different mothers, other than for electrical failures, none of that will likely ever lead to the incredibly horrid outcomes often outlined in this thread.

Heck, I've personally been acquainted with trained lab folks who blew up ether extraction attempts indoors simply by not paying attention nearly 40 years ago, when we could get ether relatively easily..

If it's human generated or manufactured, there's a built in failure waiting to happen. -Nothing- human-made has ever been fool-proof. Emphasis on 'fool.'

Admittedly, I -have- singed my mustache on a roach or two, but ....

Any interest I had in making bho is squelched.

Here's a news flash: most people are stupid. I believe the current consensus is somewhere upwards of 70%.
A poorly maintained (most) BBQ grill is more dangerous than PROPER botanical extraction methods. From an engineering standpoint, a closed loop extractor is no more dangerous or complicated than an air-conditioner, and in fact, utilize a lot of the same principles and equipment.
I have not been able to find a single reference to a closed loop mishap publicized. Have you?

Unfortunately, I've been involved as resource for fire investigators in NM and CA, as expert witness for operator defense attorneys for one in OR, building defense attorneys on one in OR, and witnessed the aftermath of one killing two people, including the operator here in Portland.

Closed loop systems indoors can still have issues if improperly used. They should never be used indoors without engineered ventilation.

Its seems not all that uncommon, some people who would never open blast indoor don't see anything wrong with using their cls inside.
then one day they get a gas leak, the room fills with butane suddenly everything is on fire. This unfortunately results in shit quality errrl because all the terps evaporate out at high temperatures & in the most extreme cases the souls of the damned get infused into the dabs, makes them taste like burnt hair.

Seems like the fastest growing sector in the death by butane category over the past couple years has been overconfident folks who blast indoors with CLS and get bit on the ass because they aren't sophisticated, educated and expereinced enough to recognized the difference between safe calculated risk taking and recklessness.
