You know, I'm not at all interested in doing a side by side against the 400 for this in between run i'm about to do. We all already know what a 400 can do. Did it once. Will do it again in the watt for watt challenge. This run, I may raise that 400 all the way up and turn it off when that 345 comes in and pull the divider. Then hang the 345 in there with the 205.
I think that's what I'll do

Though not directed at me, I'll go head and field this one. The last 2 rounds that went under my hps were vegged with my 1st gen 126w. I too was using t5's and a small mh to veg plants before that, after switching to the 126w, I feel safe in stating that its going to help me produce more bud as there are just x amount more nodes for budsites since these led's stack internodes like I've never seen before. I am even saving up for a couple of panels over a few of my mothers, as I will be able to turn out so so so many more cuttings while using these LED's compared to my mh t5 combo. The only light source that can put on as much growth as I've seen with these led's is that great big fire in the sky...

Here's a picture from my current led comparison thread that to me, pretty much tells the whole story.

HGL 205w compared to 180w Jumbo

Tighter nodes= More Bud!

I agree with what Wizo said. Vegging with LED will have no adverse effect on switching the plants to a different light source in bloom. ;)

Point taken, I see what you guys are saying!!

Going to have to empty out the piggy bank and get me one of those :D.

Peace,sg

Well, still just some vegging plants.I put up three pics trying to let you get a good look at the heights. It's really hard to open the door enough to get a good pic right now.

I know I just posted some pics and they're still just vegging, but I've been asked whether or not he stems of the led plants were thick as normal.
Here:

Fom the three first pics, 1 and 3 looks thick healthy stems (very good) but not the second one. That plant has a problem. At first view, I thought on stem's nematodes infestation. Is it soft or hard?

here's a better look. I cut of some of the lowest grow so you could see a liitle better. nice healthy stem. However, early on the cut had a bit of witch's broom going on from a def of some kind. so it had multiple branches from this same area which is why it's so thick below the branches.

Yeah, on the new pics it seems more normal, a healthy thick stem. The perspective of the pic on the first post was a bit misleading. If the stem is hard to the touch, no problem at all.

As a side note, did you know a NASA study found a close correlation between stem's thickness and yield (wheat)? Many times Ive suspected it happen very similar for cannabis

just found this thread and read the whole thing in one sitting!(while listening to your rush link!).incredible grow.you did a first class comparision.i dont have led girls lights but i do have a first gen hid hut ufo that has been a veg light since new and a ebay cheapo 90 added.in my veg cab i use a 80 cfm bathroom fan with no filter.i have had heat issues when i went to a two level two chamber veg.the box is 2 by 4 by 6feet split in half horizontally.i can only use one level without temps getting too hot.i will be upgrading to either a 4 or 6 vortex style fan and filter and try 2 levels again.if it works i will probably upgrade to a few of led girls lights.the point is even with led lights you still need adequte ventaltion in an enclosed space.keep up the great work!i. never had a problem going from led to hps either!

Not much of an update. I'm still vegging, I should have flipped already, but I'm paralyzed with indecision. Repotted the Sour Diesels and a big PK. Now, I've got to give them another weeks veg just to get them rooted into the new coco or it would not be worth the repot.
The 345 will be here soon, so things should get better. I'll swap the 205 for the 345 as soon as it gets here. Flip the lights to 12/12 in a week? Then a few weeks in some more room will open up and I'll rearrange and get both leds in on it. If things go even half way decent in the cloning arena here, then the next run should be mucho mejor.
I'd like to do the next run with all freshly rooted clones, but I take my roots as they come and there's no guarantee if you guys know my cloning history.:)

sour diesels getting way too big. a month of vegging under the 400 and the 205. leds on the right are much bushier than the pics reveal.

PKs led on the right

By the way, there are a lot more plants under each light, just don't feel like dragging them all out.

finally flipped

finally flipped

Flipped on 5-25. Here they are one day in.

hps/led

I still may add a couple more plants to the mix. There are a few from seed, so culled males will open up new space soon as they show. I have some Candy99s from nuggetshiner, a N99 from nuggetshiner, some burmese haze from MOD. The clones include Sour Diesel and Purple Kush and C99 and Sugar Shack and Golden Cindy and GAK and Chem4.
Lots more than last time. Should get real crowded real fast.

Great job Hazy. Interesting thread. The environmentalist in me wants badly to go LED and lower my electric bill.

However I am missing something here so help me out. Why are we not rating LEDs the same way we rate every other light we use? That is lumens per watt. If I need 400 watts of LEDs to equal the same lumens as a 400 HPS then the value of LEDs greatly diminishes.

The side by side grows are interesting but for me starting with the basic data is required to make any valid observations.
