Best Strains for Outdoors!

hello every1

I just want to know that what is your favourite strains for outdoor growing?

some important thing for a succesfull harvest... mold resistance, high yield, good high, nice appearance, pest resistance, fast growth, drought resistance, etc

2014 was a strange year for the outdoor gardeners, very rainy...

so in 2015 I plan to grow mostly Critical+ from Dinafem.

what is your outdoor favourite?

critical is a late finisher ( October ) and buds get too dense to handle the autumn rainfall...lot's of great Canadian outdoor strains available in Vancouver BC, do a search ;)

What's your latitude?

Best so far for me has been Taskenti from Cannabiogen (@ 51N) - see link in sig. Yield is excellent and it's very nice smoke. Good mold resistance too, and very pretty! Not a very early strain though - for me it finished around mid October. I'll be growing it again next outdoor season.

the best strains I grew outdoors this year that did well was Jamican Dream and female seeds C99 and GDP ..all were not to effected by mold....also Critical+ by dinafem I believe...all were early finishers..the Jamican Dream was done in 50 days and good producer...all plants yielded over a Lb each...I had other plants out doors also..but the one mentioned here did great and fast to harvest

If you already have mothers indoors just run a bunch of cuts and see how your genetics you already have do outside. My buddy threw some random clones outside last year and figured out that his lemon bagseed yields 2lbs+ outside, and had a nicer finish than most indoor bud, ran a whole greenhouse full of just that this year and did incredibly well. You could have an outdoor gem and not even know it. I find most outdoor specific strains to be wild, with less bag appeal and not much for flavor/potency, but when u find the indoor fire that does good outside you get the whole package

Yeah that's unfortunate, I'm sorry for your loss. I've shed many a tear over lost genetics. And as to the good outdoor strains, you just gotta think, do you want twenty pounds of the works, or five to ten pounds of stinky tasty flame

You 'splaned my weather this year spot on.

I grew a bunch of unobtanium* this season & all but my Blueberry Hawaiian finished before the killing frost last week.

*unobtanium = strains not commonly or no longer available. ;)
There's a couple pix in my small album. vvv

I think the most important factor is the weather... if the weather is rainy around harvest time than totally different strains are the best than when there is a dry finish.

I second the canadian genetics suggestion. Those strains were bred outdoors for the outdoors. A good canadian strain will fit all the criteria you listed.

If you live below 45 lat I recommend "maple leaf indica", if you like pure blood afghans,
she will yeild huge if given ample root space and has v good mold resistance for such dense buds.

If you live above 50 lat you would want to look into something earlier, "goldwarp" and other Canadian strains are a good choice for a late sept harvest.

Above 55 you would want to look into Danish/Nordic strains and auto's.

This thread will help

I tried Maple Leaf Indica. Ran in indoors over the winter to see if it's something I'd like to run the following spring. I was pretty disappointed at the quality and could not in good conscience recommend it. I heard it was good years ago but my pack from 2 years back was difficult to move.

Anyone tried any of Brown Dirt Warriors gear outside?

Get a clone of deathstar. We ran her outdoor at 44N in michigan and got a lb kola and two pounds of nug gage, only lost a few grams to mold. She was susceptible to pm but it was minor and the outdoor deathstar was way more indica feeling than the heart racey indoor deathstar. Also our cookies did very well outside this year, 1.5 lbs of mega frost

Is that the forum cookies? Any bud rot? When did she finish? Hadn't even considered cookies for next year cause she's got those super dense nugs.

depends on your lattitude, and the length of the growing season. if you need to get them in by september or october then you will need genetics that can deliver that.

as mentioned the canadians have some good strains .

geurilla gold and its hybrids are the best i have grown. finish early and great potency.

fortunately I have a quite dry october... usually even nov. is also shiny without frosts.

I really dont like durban and other special outdoor craps.

feel really fortunate myself that I dont need to grow that crap and can grow most of the "indoor strains" with success

the problems start from jack herer and ssh.

kali mist is still mature here nicely. (46°N, Europe)

anyways ssh and jh are also possible to grow... from clone, the faster flowering phenos.

I just prefer the more indica hybrids.

super skunk was really good at last year without any mold, at this year I lost 50% by mold with the same super skunk clone! this year was so rainy like neva' eva' earlier.

Pineapple express is one of my go to strains every year for outdoors. It does help to start a few seeds and find the ones with the most open structure and faster finish time. Exodus Kush was another great plant for me outside.
