WTF? HE is in a cage for 3 days and shes drinkin coffee and shootin the shit? In my state the po po will press charges if he wouldnt.
Regardless, a child is involved and your buddy has to be more responsible with his actions now that another human life is involved. Besides, the mental trauma, nowadays they will come in and take your kid no questions asked.

same in colorado...here you cant even get into a 1 on 1 fistfight w/ someone and stay out of jail. (you cannot touch anyone for any reason w/ out their consent or you go to jail for assault and the police will charge you if the victim won't) I think you can go to jail for flippin someone off too.
when i lived in Alaska you could fight and not get into trouble... same w/ domestic if neither wanted to press charges (I think it's called "mutual combat")....not sure if its still the same in AK or not, but Colorado won't stand for it.

yeah..Colorado is crazy..
he hasn't even talke to the judge yet today...now he's getting threatened because he's got some Xanax...he was told that if he didn't leave his pod he would get stomped..so now he's in the front office waiting to see the judge...
I hope me and his friends can get him out soon...he can not handle jail man

I once spit in the back of a police car when I was the only one in it.
The cop lied and said I tried to spit on him.
He charged me with a Felony and my bail was set at $75,000.
He didn't show up to the first two preliminary hearing on purpose so I had to wait in county jail for 3 months before I even got my first real hearing other than setting bail.
At the hearing the judge dropped the charges and said I was "wrongfully over charged".
They charged me with a Disorderly Conduct, that carries a maximum penalty of a fine in my state.
My bail was unceremoniously reduced to $0/RoR and I walked out of the court room with no job (had one before this, $1000+/week), no place to live ( + lost $3500 security deposit and was sued for violated lease another $2000 after settlement), no insurance, a repossessed vehicle (lost $5,000+ I all ready had into it and hurt my credit), horrible credit and a family that thought I was dead because they don't have collect calling enabled so I could not call them once in 3 months.
No apology.
I just walked out of the courtroom a broke. jobless, homeless, bum.
True story.
And they wonder why people flip the fuck out.

The system can be so fucked up, you wouldn't believe some of the people I met in county and what they had to go through, it was like they are used to this crazy shit.
I met one guy, guess like a career criminal type, he had a few stints in jail before.
Well anyway him and his wife get into it just like the thread starters friend.
No fighting or anything, but the wife takes the kids and runs to her sisters house.
He calls up the sister and says to the effect that if you don't bring my kids back I will cut you stab you whatever.
He calls back and keeps saying it because for days she is holding the kids hostage.
Finally the wifes sister records to calls, takes them down to the police, who give them to the DA.
He is charged with Felony terroristic threats 1st degree.
It is a felony that carries up to a 5 year sentence.
Now if it was his first offense he would have been out with time served right at sentence, but since it is not his first offense they give him the FULL 5 years with a chance for work release in 3 years and parole in 4 years.
3-5 YEARS in STATE prison for meaningless WORDS said in anger.
Another guy I met was waiting trial for murder because he killed his wife and claimed he was drunk he could not even remember doing it.
He just said "yeah that is what they say, but I don't remember shit she must have came at me"
You meet some fucked up characters.
The whole gay thing never really happens except there are some openly gay men in prison known as "punks" and they will volunteer to have sex no need for rape because every cell block has at least a few punks out of the 50+ inmates.
People going down for 10+ years are the only ones that start thinking about punks and they will fight tooth and nail as they pass they punk around mostly for blow jobs.
Sometimes they pay the punks even.
You can buy a TV for your cell and have a radio and a guitar in your cell if you can afford it along with boiling water dispensers for coffee.
Boiling water is a very common weapon and from the one guy (guard outed him as a baby raper) I saw it dumped on it looked extremely effective because he just kept screaming and screaming 'till they took him to the nurse and then to protective custody.
A 1 gallon container of boiling water dumped on your head when you don't know it is coming has to hurt, but hey that is the road you go down when you fucking rape babies I wish I had the balls to dump it on him but my times was to short, leave it to the lifers.
You have all most everything you have on the outside weed, coke etc.
People make their own wine in their cells out of orange/cranberry juice with sugar packets and bread from pizza crusts.
They fill trash bags up with 50 gallons of water in their cells and use the bags as make shift free weights.
People (especially those who just got into jail) take "Swan Dives" off the top tier of the cell block and fall 5 stories down splat.
I didn't see this, but it happened on another block when I was there and I asked a guard and he said he saw like 20 people do it in his day and saw some people break their necks most just die.
Lots of gangs, mostly reserved for the 10+ year crowd just like the punks.
Ah, I could go on.

If you get more than 1 year and they send you up state... oh boy I heard some stories
