Have you tried revegging any of your beer cup plants? I read where MrGreengenes has his yield increase with revegging. They sure get bushier when he revegges.

Yes I have re-vegged a cup. I can't say I have had the experience of a cut yielding too much more than a from seed grow. I have had plants taste better, but I think thats part of getting to know a plant and dialing things in.

Update:

I just removed the growth for the 4th node. I try to remove it ASAP so the plants don't waste too much energy. In most cases the tip is the size of a bb.

More to come!

OK things are starting to get a little crowded. I need these plants to sex ASAP, but I know that's not gonna happen.

On the taller plants I have been crushing the main stem with my fingers. I also pinched all of the tips at the top. These plants can take it.

A note about pics. I am playing around w/ HDR photography and some pics will look enhanced. They are really just 5 or so images merged together so all the detail comes out. I am really showing more and not less, but I thought I'd mention it. I gotta say I am excited to see how a flowering plant will look up close.

wiki:
In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminances between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. This wider dynamic range allows HDR images to more accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight.[1]

The two main sources of HDR imagery are computer renderings and merging of multiple photographs, which in turn are known as low dynamic range (LDR)[2] (also called standard dynamic range (SDR)[3]) photographs.

hdr - plants in flower - none have shown sex.

#1cheesebuds & b00m - Thanks! I hope I can maintain 'em.

Update:

Everything has been sexed. I ended up w/: Panama: 4males and 1female; Oaxacan: 2males and 5females. I really have bad luck w/ panama. This is my second run and combined I have sexed 15 plants and only had 2 females. It sucks. I have a few clones that I added late in the game to be sure everything ends around the same time. The final cast:

4 Oaxacans
1 Panama
1 super silver haze clone
1 mod bx x f13 clone - aka "out of body"
1 (johnny blaze x c-plus) x f13 clone - aka "orange spice"

So far things are going sorta the way I want. A few of the Oaxacans are stretching much more than I wanted. I really think I crowded them a bit too much when I sexed them.

More to come....

Ok, mini update. Things are growing pretty good. I needed to flash a few of these and a couple of the HOGs browning pretty early.

I am still trying to get used to controlling the color in an HDR image. Some pics have color that is off. I am also playing w/ how much detail is in the image. Maybe I can get it down by the end of the thread.

tehehe I went through an HDR obsession as well. I eventually started feeling that less is more when it comes to messing with the saturation and contrast filters, as the point of a good HDR is to represent a more genuine lighting experience, not distort the colors to make it look like an alien piece of art.

The grow is looking great, and those colas look great no matter how you're photographing them!

SnowRider221 - Thanks dude. I'll get the hdr thing down at some point. I still think the alien shots look interesting. I mean there are no rule for art.

The hdr looks great in the closer shots. Nice fantasy kind of vibe to the wider shots. Nice work on the plants too. :tiphat:

#1cheesebuds - Hi. Thanks. I'll take a shot this weekend.

jim.mars - Wassup. No, they normally do not get root bound. Every now and again a sativa will get pissed about the container. Most plants do very well in the setup.

ScrubNinja - Thank you Sir. I did almost nice work. I had to leave town for a week and a few plants suffered from the drifting ph.

ChickenChaser - Hi. Here is how it works:

The SmartValve MKII is the very same valve used in the Autopots and Smartgardens. The SmartValve MKII is capable of sub irrigating a suitable tray with up to four large plants in 10" containers, or six smaller plants in 5" containers. Each SmartValve is fed by a 1/4" connection to a low pressure (up to 8 psi) water or nutrient solution source. Since they can operate at extremely low pressure, a simple gravity feed reservoir can be used as a supply by making sure it is raised just slightly above the SmartValve(s). The higher the reservoir is situated above the SmartValve(s), the longer the 1/4" feed lines can be and the more SmartValves you can supply.

The SmartValve's method of operation resembles that of an ebb & flow system by employing a simple flood and drain principle but without the need to return depleted solution back to the reservoir. This simplifies nutrient solution management and opens up hundreds of new uses for this proven technique. By first flooding the tray to a depth of 1" with water or nutrient solution. It then "waits" for your plants to consume the solution before re-flooding the tray with a fresh charge. In this fashion, the Smartvalve automatically cycles plants through a complete wet/dry cycle that simulates the cycle of natural rainfall without the problems of pumps, timers and nutrient solution management. Refer to the diagrams below for a detailed illustration of its operation.

Nice work 3dDream, pity about the lower female numbers, but I know you'll crank out some lovely dankness with what you got mate.
Peace and Respect

Thanks for the link 3dDream, certainly something id like to get set up myself. How often do you top feed and run to waste? generally. obviously to flush the salt build up, i guess it would vary due to what strength nute solution being used.

b00m - Howdy. I hope I can. I am glad I ran the numbers I did because I only had to scrap 1 female.

ChickenChaser - I never top feed, but I do have to flush every 3-4 weeks. The plants will usually tell me. So normally the system has 0 waste.

I overfed a bit so I am hiding some of my mistakes w/ an orange glow. When the flush starts reality will resume.

Here's a look:

I am very lucky this run, I found 2 nice sativas. One of the hogs and the single panama are amazing in their smell and yield. The smell has a pleasant intensity that I don't see too often. Both plants also remained shorter than the rest. So they are short and sweet (for crazy sativas). These two gals give sativa's in small spaces a nice name. An indica would not even be 1/3 the size if started from 12/12 in my setup.
