Basement Buds in Bed

Most of the amendments were delivered today.

Went ahead and dug up MPK #1 and put #2 in her spot. Probably switch to 12s in two weeks after she has time to spread some roots. Sprinkled mycorrhizal fungi powder on her roots and the edges of the hole in the bed during transplant.

Mendocino Purple Kush #2 in bed

VG Bubba Kush S1 is now 42 days in veg. She'll be the oldest at 8 weeks when I flip the lights in 2 weeks.

Did some more drywall work the last few days. Completed the inside of the secondary room, and just one exterior sheet left to put up, then mud and prime and paint...you know...the FUN stuff!

Apparently (and obviously), the Ignore List only works when you're logged in. I'll spend a couple of minutes here trying to set you straight...for me, not for you.

They look pretty happy to me. Do you have any other helpful insights into why they don't look happy? All the other viewers are dying to hear more from you!

They were stressed under 24hr light, they actually DE-stressed after introducing lights out so the roots could have time to catch up to the vegetative growth. Again, you rattle off these idiotic ideas and offer no proof, research, science, anything... You're not here to help others, only yourself.

Yes, those are old issues caused by overwatering, which affected most of the girls. Already addressed. Do you even read and comprehend things? No.

Nope, only these super healthy and happy looking seedings of yours from your thread...

Your plants all looked so happy here, no weird spots on the leaves, or needing to be held up by (paperclips? twisty ties?) because they stretched too much under your "correct" lights. Just the picture of perfection right there. You are the seedling God!

And, perhaps most importantly, you need to come correct when posting in my thread. You have such a negative attitude and don't offer any real help or solutions or outside research to back up your ignorant claims. I'm just here looking to share with others, and I expect the same from anyone else posting in here.

Thanks for dropping by, the amendments weren't that expensive considering they should last at least 2-3 grow cycles. By then, the requirements should be lower once the soil ecosystem is really grooving.

Spotted my first real pistils tonight on the CSI Bubba @ 38 days

Got the distribution drippers put in place. Probably soak the Blumats tomorrow for installation.

Decided to get rid of one of the VG Bubba clones since they're both rooted and I only need one...18 days I believe.

picture.php

Also culled MPK #1 as she looked to be permanently stunted. Still keeping MPK #3 under the dome for now...

Took a couple first-node clones off the Sugar Puffs, these things are tiny...couldn't believe within a couple hours, both had adjusted position to face the light.

And got the Blumat Maxi carrots installed next to all 5 plants. Jesus, take the wheel!

Saw the drippers around Mendocino Purple Kush #2 turn on today. Watched for about 10 minutes on and off, then checked 30 minutes later and they were off. It worked! I didn't water her as much during the carrot install since she's so young, but it was moist enough down at 9 inches.

Here's the whole bed. From bottom left to the top of the pic is VG Bubba, CSI Three Queens, and CSI Sugar Puffs. Over on the left is MPK #2, and the sensitive-looking one on the right is CSI Bubba. The VG Bubba clone is also in there, sporting her new digs fashioned out of a 2-liter bottle, just catching some extra rays while the new clones are enjoying the humidome.

Been watching this little bunch of Lacy Phacelia flowers the past few days.

picture.php

Started installing the super secret entrance door (pics coming soon!) and the light-proof darkroom louvres for passive air intake. I was originally planning to do a bunch of 1"-2" holes with PVC pipe trying to make a light trap, but I saw these for only $30 a piece and it was a no-brainer. I'll use 2 of them into the main grow space, placed low since the exhaust is up high. I think my air change happens once every 2-3 minutes now.

picture.php

Also spent a few minutes using some left over particle board and pallet wood to create self-standing reflective panels for the two sides of the bed that are not right up against the wall. I think this will help put more light on those lowers where the wall is almost 2 feet away...

All the girls are doing good...still plan to switch to 12s in one week.

Less than a week before I plan to flip to 12s, these pics were taken yesterday. Some of the plants were showing signs of light stress on new leaf tips a few days ago, so I moved the light up and dimmed it a bit more (was running ~400W, now ~300W or around 50% full power).

VG Bubba at 50 days veg. The light is about 31" above her tops now, and she's right at 21" tall. She shot up from 16" to 19" in 3 days this past week, stretching! Haven't even flipped yet... She has tons of pre-flowers, but not a single pistil coming out of any of them. Very curious.

picture.php

CSI Bubba at 45 days veg. She's about 17" tall and definitely growing out of her overwatering issues, but still not very photogenic. Perhaps in a few more weeks...

picture.php

Three Queens (left) at 35 days veg, also showed the first signs of light stress a few days ago, where the very tips of new leaf growth turn yellow.
Sugar Puffs (right) at 32 days veg. She had some light stress a few days ago, too. Very maple-leaf type structure on the lower leaves, kinda cool looking.

picture.php

Mendocino Purple Kush at 19 days veg. She's stretching up for that light, don't think she'll have a problem catching up to the Bubba's.

picture.php

All of the yellow tips have stopped on the light-stressed girls since raising the light up and lowering the intensity. 3 of the 5 plants have had the Blumats trigger a watering, still waiting on Three Queens and Sugar Puffs to take a drink.

Encountered my first Blumat runaway today, around the VG Bubba...It was dripping slow at first, and I went back down a couple hours later to find it dripping really fast. Adjusted the carrot dial one arrow (1/8th turn) clockwise and it shut off.

Also found first pistils on Sugar Puffs tonight day 33

The VG Bubba S1 is now 23" tall, growing at a rate of 1 inch-per-day. I have to put up some black poly with velcro around the pocket door to lightproof it, then I plan to flip to 12s tomorrow night. I was not expecting her to be so vigorous.

She's looking a little hungry, will probably do a top dress of one or more amendments tomorrow.

Finally the blumats kicked on for Three Queens and Sugar Puffs last night. They were dripping for a couple hours before I adjusted them both a tiny bit tighter. This morning they were still dripping, albeit very slowly... Tightened a bit more, but concerned that I may need to pull them out and add some damp coco coir down the hole. We'll see how the next 24-48hrs go.

I noticed this mycellium-looking growth under Sugar Puffs a couple days ago when the top 1-2" of soil was dry, so I snapped a pic today to get a closer look. It's growing on top of a winter rye seed/root. Not sure if this is related to the mycorrhizal fungi recently introduced, a quick interwebs search turns up a couple of similar photos. But the related info just talks about how to get rid of it, or at best, "harmless forget about it". lol

picture.php

The cover crop is getting super dense in there, I may need to thin it out or cut it back to allow more airflow around the trunk of the plant.

Here's a cool leaf I saw, I think on Three Queens...not sure.

picture.php

Applied about 1/2 cup of the KIS nutrient pack around the base of VG Bubba today while the drippers were drippin. Also playing around with light height and intensity again since I noticed the leaf surface temps were pretty low (69-70F). Raised it up a couple inches and turned the intensity up by about 100 watts. Couple hours later, LST around 73-74F. Should be a little higher, but I'll wait and see how she responds from here.

Looking like a cannabis meadow there.

Thanks dots, kinda wish it was bigger so I could take a leisurely stroll around the meadow. But I'll gladly take this 4x4 bed in a basement.

I can't even describe all of the feels I'm getting, counting FLOWERING days again after almost 7 years away from growing... Excited, nervous, anxious, to name a few.

VG Bubba day 2 flower. Think I'm going to clean up her undercarriage tomorrow and open some air flow underneath. There's lots of mycelium on the surface of the soil under her, need to make sure more oxygen is getting down there.

(L to R, below) Sugar Puffs, Three Queens, CSI Bubba. I've gotten a distinct mocha coffee smell from the CSI Bub a few times now.
