Basement Buds in Bed

I was planning to switch over to 12/12 in a couple of weeks, but I don't think the Mendocino Purple Kush will be ready... Only one of these three girls will be invited to the party, but I'll need to see at least a couple weeks of growth to make a decision. Then, if one of the new seedlings is selected, I'll want to give it a couple more weeks to take root in the bed and grab a clone or two. So much for a Christmas harvest, but I'd rather do it right than rush it unnecessarily. Not too worried about vertical space for the others just yet.

MPK #1 - almost looks like she's re-vegging, two main tops forming here.

MPK #2 - had to use a sterile razor to open her up tonight.

MPK #3 - she opened up on her own today

Noticing more growth below the first node on the CSI Bubba S1 @ 27 days veg. The original growth I spotted down there is stretching up with a messy cluster of leaf growth at the top of the branch. And there appear to be two or more new growth areas on the other side of the trunk.

picture.php

The worms officially moved out of the grow space as of last night, into their new digs on the basement floor with a single 10"x20" seedling heat mat under them. The bedding is around 81F today, and they are not even climbing the walls. The top seals really well on this tub, so they couldn't escape even if they wanted to. Glad to see them settling in so quick, though. Or maybe they're just cooking to death...? :toohot:

Flower bed is looking better each day, haven't watered in almost 3 days now, so they're really soaking up the excess moisture that had built up down below (from the soil sitting in the flower bed covered and kept moist for 2+ months). The CSI Bubba seems to have suffered the most from overwatering, possibly contributing to the mutations in some unknown-to-me way. She's also showing light stress on the tips of the newest leaves, so I backed down the light intensity ~20% from the max.

The two new Mendocino Purple Kush seedlings look happy under the dome. Not even sure how I'll select which one of the three to run... Limits only apply to plants above a certain height, so if I can keep them short enough...I don't know. Maybe I'll ping Nspecta or @tigard_farms to see if they have any thoughts.

VG Bubba clones both appear to be doing well. All of the leaves are lifted on their own, not much droop. I'll probably just keep the first one with visible roots and feed the other to the worms.

Three Queens and Sugar Puffs both look really happy to me. I can definitely see the darker leaf color on the Bubbas and 3Q, compared to the Sugar Puffs (Bubblegum X Mendo Purps).

The original Mendocino Purple Kush seedling (#1) has some good vigor in the new growth. I think the roots are good, I'm guessing the age/condition of the seed likely caused the stalled growth at the beginning there. I like both of the backup seedlings, too, for different reasons. #2 was quickest to break ground, already starting her 2nd set of leaves, looking vigorous compared to #3. But #3 is a lighter color, more of a lime green, which might mean she's more of a Mendo Purps-leaner...? I'd be cool with that.

Good shit .

Man those bubbas are compact if those were mine id be cutting the light even more . Run it as low as it will go.you have to get some stretch my brother you will have a 1 ft tall 3 ft wide bud when finished. Or they'll take off during stretch leaving all the bottoms and sides in the dust .
You already turned down light . I think some lights out time will help them some as well.

I popped 25 beans this week woot woot 10 of my. Jelly pie x pink kush . 10 gifted oldschool hashplant f2's . Couple dosidos few cookies and cream . Ive been running clones forever it feels like . I dont have much luck with regular seeds someone always gets my females :).

Looking awesome DM. That bed will become so lush and fertile.

Thanks for the kind words, dots. Need to do some more research on KIS' recommended amendment schedule. I plan on sticking with their methods as much as I'm able.

Yeah, those Bubs are pretty stout...the CSI especially. I think she'll end up with minimal branching. The VG Bub is super branchy, though. She has 5-6 tops now, hoping for a bush!

Awesome to hear you popping beans, too. Sounds like you'll have a good selection to choose from! Regular seeds always seemed like a gamble to me when trying to grow a specific number of females to fill a space. The feminized seeds give me so much peace of mind in that regard. Best of luck!

The original Mendocino Purple Kush seedling shows noticeable growth every 12 hours, I swear. I'll probably let her keep her spot in the bed. But #2 is showing some early purpling... Still not 100% on my choice yet.

For the first time today, the CSI Bubba leaves at the top stopped drooping. I think she finally worked through the backlog of moisture below. She still looks rough, probably end up a low yielder, but I've been fooled before...

Thanks fellas!

I don't believe it, the MPK #3 seedling is doing the same thing MPK #1 did...nothing! Just stops after the first set of leaves...? Is this more common in older seeds? Weird.

picture.php

But if it comes back like MPK #1 here, I'd be happy since she'll stay shorter longer.

Found a couple of these on the CSI Bubba, but now VG Bubba is showing a fan leaf with extra finger coming right up the middle, too.

This is fun to watch
I will tell it like it is
You are trying to run before you can walk
None of your plants are happy
Your seedlings arent happy being in there either
Can you take a flash pic with that light off so we can see what the leaf colors are?
Also
Going from 24 hrs lights ON to what i think you said
16 ON: 8 Off came close to initiating flowering and probably induced some more stress

I should be able to grab a couple clones off the CSI Bubba and Three Queens in the next few days. Sugar Puffs has minimal side branching as of yet, but she's not even 3 weeks from seed.

If I keep the Mendocino Purple Kush #1, I might try to snag the smaller of the two main branches coming up from that first node as a clone. The nodes are already alternating on the new growth, which is cool.

The color of those is nicer for pics
All your plants seem to be doing the same thing
Seedlings all crinkle leaf then if they get a liitle bigger they start being thick and curled
Despite being different strains
I veg seedlings and starts like yours under 25w of led and a cfl
I never see any growth like yours
In seedling stage they are fragile
Just because one of the seeds is slower then others means nothing about how it will grow compared to the other seedling once it get to a good veg
Picking out seedlings while they are seedlings is not smart

Apparently (and obviously), the Ignore List only works when you're logged in. I'll spend a couple of minutes here trying to set you straight...for me, not for you.

...None of your plants are happy
Your seedlings arent happy being in there either...

They look pretty happy to me. Do you have any other helpful insights into why they don't look happy? All the other viewers are dying to hear more from you!

...
Also
Going from 24 hrs lights ON to what i think you said
16 ON: 8 Off came close to initiating flowering and probably induced some more stress...

They were stressed under 24hr light, they actually DE-stressed after introducing lights out so the roots could have time to catch up to the vegetative growth. Again, you rattle off these idiotic ideas and offer no proof, research, science, anything... You're not here to help others, only yourself.

...All your plants seem to be doing the same thing

Yes, those are old issues caused by overwatering, which affected most of the girls. Already addressed. Do you even read and comprehend things? No.

I veg seedlings and starts like yours under 25w of led and a cfl
I never see any growth like yours...

Nope, only these super healthy and happy looking seedings of yours from your thread...

picture.php

Your plants all looked so happy here, no weird spots on the leaves, or needing to be held up by (paperclips? twisty ties?) because they stretched too much under your "correct" lights. Just the picture of perfection right there. You are the seedling God!

And, perhaps most importantly, you need to come correct when posting in my thread. You have such a negative attitude and don't offer any real help or solutions or outside research to back up your ignorant claims. I'm just here looking to share with others, and I expect the same from anyone else posting in here.

I want you to do good
I wasnt going to lay some snide remark in here and bail
Anyways...i use paperclips and toothpicks to prop some of them up at the beginning for sure get a usb fan on them as soon as possible
The littlest can definitely become the beast of the garden
My advice is from the 90s , seeds were big $$

I have multiple people that bring me seeds to start for them because im so methodical

Anyways
Need some Low light

A couple quick side shots of Three Queens and Sugar Puffs. I also put a handful of worm castings as a top dress under the CSI Bubba to see if it helps her recovery, can't hurt...

Took a couple clones from CSI Bubba and Three Queens two days ago. They're all holding up well and pointing towards the light.

picture.php

The VG Bubba clones are showing new growth, it's been 13 days I think...

picture.php

Looks like the Mendocino Purple Kush #1 is showing 3 main growth points now. I'm a bit concerned that the trunk of the plant doesn't seem to be keeping up with the girth of the plant above it. Will keep watching her for a few more days, still not ready to decide which one I'll be flowering...

MPK #1 day 19

I also ordered some mycorrhizal fungi (kinda late, I know...), kelp meal, neem and karanja cake, malted barley, and a nutrient pack from KIS Organics. I plan to use the malted barley right away as a top dress for the whole bed, and probably "innoculate" all root zones with the MF. Still have more reading to do...
