Bangi Haze

Thanks for the kind words Sticky and red23. I went back and found ThaiBliss' cabinet grow of Bangi Haze #1103 page 111 and realized I have a long way to go. Those buds are huge.
I look forward to the journey to perfection and achieving similar results. I have a lot to learn. I need to understand how to make buds like that.
It's mostly the genetics. Keep trying more. You may find one like I grew.

Thanks Dubi!

Thanks ThaiBliss. You can be sure I'll keep trying. :plant grow:
This is going to be a lifelong hobby.

Now on to the outdoor crop. This is the large Bangi Haze clone I took from indoor plant that's been outdoors since 1st week in June. LST training horizontal to keep low profile. Hoping it finishes 1st week October.

I put three Bangi in a 65 gal shorty out on the ridge.
The twin I had b7 I put on the right there and 5 and 6 are behind it all turned out to be females I think. No flowers here at 38 Lat yet but preflowers look promising. I just topdressed with some vermicast and will follow in a week or so with our equine compost from the race barns.

Hey all! Hope the growing is going well, figured i'd share some photos of the couple Bangi Haze girls out in the bog.

Any input on the phenos?

Bushy pheno. Its flowered real early, which I love. I'm dying to keep a cutting of this one

Bushy pheno pink pistils! It also smells like strong tropical fruit - fruit juice!

Taller pheno hasnt flowered yet.

sorry for the large photos. Tried to put only a few!

Happy & safe growing.

Hi Nup,

You have some variety in your phenotypes. I had one like the tropical fruity one. Mine looked like heck, but the smoke was fine! That first one you posted caught my eye. Looks wild and wooly. Another one I had was excellent looked the most like indica, but it was as good or better than the unhealthy fruity floral one. It was really productive and floral smelling also. I wish I kept a cutting of that one.

I was looking for clean and clear more than anything else. I found it.

Thanks for the comments, ThaiBliss!

I got lucky having the two be so different!

Seems i should take cuttings of both. I hope that i'll also find some exciting bangi smoke.

Peace!

Nice plants, they look a bit underfed. The first one is stunning, lovely branching and structure.

Cheers

Absolutely take cuttings of both!!!!!

Don't be swayed by looks, bud size, or productivity. Breed the best smoke and forget the rest. (Luther Burbank)

I just killed off a cutting of what I thought is a spectacular and Thai looking Miss Universe. It was hard to do. I developed an attachment to this plant:

... in preference for a rather pedestrian looking Kali Mist:

Kali Mist even ripened a month later. The smoke of Kali Mist was almost as strong, but vastly superior in quality to the Miss Universe individual. It's worthy of breeding to a select Bangi Haze line from this mother:

Looking forward to your smoke reports. I hope you are as happy as I am with the Bangi Haze genetics I incorporated into my seed stock.

Koondense - They're lookers alright! But yeah, seem to be running out of nitrogen a little too early... a note for next years soil mix. Lots more coffee grounds, hah.

ThaiBliss - It's certainly easy to be swayed by the looks of a plant. :watchplant:

I can see why the Miss Universe won you over.

But yes, smoke trumps all ;) The hope with these plants is to find a plant that can finish it's flowering in my climate(53N).

I'll be sure to post how they finish! Thanks for the words.

Two cuts off of same Bangi Haze fem from seed I grew indoors. Light green is in the ground and darker one in grow bag. Should I be worried or try to correct?

Beautiful picture!
They both look very good, I prefer the light green one on the left :)

Maybe she needs more N, top dressing with a balanced nutrient will fix her.

Cheers

If i had to hazard a guess the plant in the grow bag has more nitrogen, giving it that darker colour?

Happy looking plants tho, nice to see the differences.

Hello everyone. Long time follower, first time poster, I was hoping to glean some advise from all you folks who have run this seedline. I popped a 5 pack of bangi haze, and got the following notes (clones were pulled early and flowered to determine sex).

Seedling A: male. Slowest to develop, dwarf, short internodes, last male to show sex, leaf mutations (occasional double bracts, single leafs in flowering), branchy.
Seedling B: male. medium growth rate, medium internodes, least branchy, tall, leaf yellows during flower.
Seedling C: female. indistinguishable from B until showing sex. Leafs stay dark green.
Seedling D: female. medium growth rate, short internodes, branchy, smelliest plant.
Seedling E: male. Most vigorous, fastest to develop, first to show sex. Medium internodes. Thickest stem, leaf yellows at flower.

I have a Purple Mexican female from CBG going right now and was planning some pollen chucking, what male or males would you use? Alternatively does anyone have any thoughts on the possible phenotypes?

For bangi haze, I would use males B and E. On both females . I would be tempted to use all 3 but I'm not positive about seedling A until I inspected closer. Does it have a smell on a stem rub? Some other reason for wanting to use it.

And yeah pollinate the purple Mexican with the same pollen you choose from bangi haze, that would be interesting.
I just recently pollinated a stinky b.o. hazey smelling bangi haze with Malawi pollen

Here is the same bangi haze I speak of, I pollinated a clone of this seed plant.

It's also one of the lighter green leaves I have, and stoutest plant.

Infinitelight5D, not much smell from any of the males so far, slightly peppery herbal smells, if anything. I do like the flower density on A though, due to the shorter innernodes.

I've already got an open pollination of all five individuals, to keep the genetics. The only reason I worry about E, is that I've read DJ short always got rid of the first males to show, to avoid hemp-leaning individuals.

Hi Breadwizard,

It could be worth asking Dubi if he thinks DJ Short's advice applies to the BH.
There could certainly be some truth in it but it could also depend a lot on the genetics.
In most strains i grew, the first females were often very good, if not the best.
I only had 2 distinct BH phenos so far but, from the quality of the high, i'd say this strain isn't too much at risk to lean towards hemp anytime soon... ;)

A great week end to all of you brothers ! :)
