Amsterdam isnt as evil as i have heard...Everywhere seemed very very safe..

I'll go with that for sure.

I think it will take a while for the dam to loose it's shady image. I know people that got ripped off there in the 80's, and won't go there again. Doesn't matter how often we tell them about our good experiences there, they've experienced differently and will stick with their judgement.

yeah my lack of punctuation doesnt help anything either! HAHA

When i was in a bar tlaking to some old dudes (i hate kids my age) one of them said something that i still cant get out of my head..he kept repeating "Respect! with a capital R!"

Respect will get you far..and politeness

my boss doesnt respect me so i am finding a new job after 4 years of bending over backwards for him..Fuck him! i asked for a raise 7.50 us dollars and hour to 8.25 us dollars which isnt that much considering im never late, and ive been there for 4 years never took time off...work every holiday except christmas..Well i get back to my home at 1oclock in the morning and my boss calls me later that day maybe 4oclock that night asking if i am gonna come to work or what...well this is a seasonal job and aparently they scheduled me to work the day i get back after my 10 hour flight and didnt even ask me if i was coming back this year...so being the good employee i am i go in to work..the owner didnt even ask me how my trip was he just comes over to me and starts talking crap about me going to see hookers and smoke weed infront of all these new employees...WTF>!@?@?@?@? i understand he has a sense of humor but whenever i joke around with him hes like "drop it...i dont want to talk about..." hes just a huge dick...so i take him aside and tell him id like 8.25 and hour and he told me he will give it to me if i stop smoking pot on the job...i said fair enough and then he starts making up all this stuff about resposibilty and ho wi will have to work a bit harder which is fine i mean...thats what comes with a raise..and then he told me "its not the money"..WELL WHAT THE FUCK?! So its not the money i just dont deserve it....
FUCK THAT

I just fixed up my resume and am job hunting tomorrow..

anyway

Respect everyone...I hope he has fun finding someone willing to cook breakfast at 6 in the morning and prep the whole dinner menu and still come in to cook at night...fucker

HAHA i guess i was a push over...

wow..off topic..just needed to get it off my chest

So Amsterdam was'nt what you were expecting eh??
it can be strange especially if your on your own (ive done it a few times!)
psssssst 'Charlie' psssst 'Charlie..... JUST FUCK OFF MATE!!

When you go again if you ever do, get over with a couple of mates you will be sure to have more of a laugh.....
Smoking on your own at home in your own comfy settings is good,
but if your on your own in a strange country and you got nice weed, no wonder your head fell off!!!...

Anyway tell your boss you want $20/ph or he can stick it up his arse!!!

Yeah dude, stand up for yourself. I bet you can land yourself a better job.

My experience in Adam was a little different. I was sooooo fried the whole time I was there...lol. I smoked maybe 25 strains in 5 days. I got a lot of respect in the RLD. A lot of people assumed I was a dealer based on my appearance.

BTW, smoking a ton of good Dutch pot can be problematic. I don't know how much time I wasted walking in circles. Everything looked the damn same. I had to leave my bike locked up and walk a few times, because the pot just did my head in. The strongest pot of the trip was definitely the Kali Mist at Abraxas. I'll never forget how high I was there. :)

Oh yeah...the RLD girls will give you extra time if you're nice to them :) I had to try it out for the experience. Then once more just to be sure...hehe. I remember stumbling out of Hunter's Bar after having a pint and a fat spliff of some shite Neville's Haze (got me high, but it was nothing special) and wandering around the RLD in the October rain. I wanted a chick who I found really attractive, and I finally came across a petite, pretty olive-skinned Italian-Greek (so she said) girl who took my fancy. She had a bruise on her arm that kind of bothered me. I think she was a little overwhelmed by how nice I was to her...

Hehe, last time I almost threw this one streetperson in the canal, fucking stupid bum, I have nothing against people who just communicate or try to so it, but when they get physical, that is to grab your shoulder, hand etc. then there are no rules, every idiot that dares to touch me gets some handling ala FJ. But, Amsterdam is safe as any other city in this world, it all depends on how one acts when visiting places, if you act like a idiot you get treated that way, lol, Amsterdam feels very safe after roaming a few miles of dark ghetto alleys late at night in Mexico just to get that Acapulco Gold lmao..

I know :( i didnt even go on the singel...i didnt really wanna visit the shop anyway because im kinda young...i dont get taken to seriously when im young...and i was scared you guys would start smoking me up with really good weed or osmething and i was to scared to smoke better stuff than NYCD. haha

I do regret not visiting...especially being a customer of gypsy nirvana...

I really was gonna go just to buy a tshirt by bastard brews and a tshirt for our site..

i also wanted to check out Milas shop....next time....

now i feel bad :(

I will come again soon...hey i bet i could find a job cooking getting much more than i do here...

I also want to mention i started feeling at home there a few days before i left so it was just a country boy getting used to the city..I needed a routine...im a big guy of routines...

I wish i was a bit older though because i felt so young there...it seemed like the kids there (England also)expereienced a lot more at a younger age...like i saw 8 year olds riding bikes by themselves and shopping and stuff...i wouldnt be allowed to where im from....And i would like to learn a bit of dutch...it was hell trying to figure out those trams for the first few days...actaully i think i just walked everywhere to avaiod them haha..

And i also want to mention i did have a great time there just in a different way then i expected...

so what was it what you didnt expect about amsterdam?

he didnt expect all that weed, people, noise, and hustle to make him want the quietness of his rural home

and probly ...from the way he was talking ..... he didnt get the "hell on earth" ghetto he was expecting , just alot of confusion , which was most probly the weed/strange place scenario

best way for visiting amsterdam
is to find somewhere to watch it all from .... try to make it easy for your self .... get comfy .... dont bring loads of stuff to remember and have fun

just have to watch everything which can become quite a task : )

Peace :joint:

I love reading people's Amsterdam experiences to see if they were anything like mine.

When I went to Amsterdam my first time....it was EVERYTHING I expected! :biglaugh:

I was happier than a pig in mud! I felt like Amsterdam was the home I had never been to. The freedom was amazing to say the least.

I've been there a few times and I will always go back.

where did you come from? not specific but like a city or have you moved around a lot? It was my first time on my own and ive never been further than like 3 states away...

oh yeah..why is it so hard to make an international call>!?!?!??!?!

The freedom is amazing, i agree, I find it great that just because you CAN smoke weed doesnt mean that you are gonna...or just because you can drink at 16 doesnt mean there were drunk kids all over..it was almost like i saw less of it because half the fun is trying to get away with stuff here...almost the same as an adrenaline rush...like when you use reverse physcology on your kids...

Yes. My first Amsterdam trip was in the 80's. One of the first thing that happened after getting off the train was seeing this guy smash the window of a car and grab the stuff inside. The thing was, he didn't even bother checking if the street was clear, he didn't try to pick the lock discreetly or anything. He just picked up a big stone and hurled it at the window.
Me and my girlfriend checked into a hostel, paid the desk clerk cash and got our room. The next morning, the manager of the hostel (an American ex-pat) knocked on the door and said we had to pay for our room. We told him that we already paid, be he said no money was received. He called in the desk clerk, who made up this hilarious story how we told him we would pay later once we'd been to the bank, and he had just been very nice to us by accepting it. We claimed our innocence, but got kicked anyway.
In only a weekend, I ran into three pickpockets. One guy sat down next to me on a bench and sneaked his hand in my pocket. I caught another one groping through the pockets in my jacket, that I hung over a chair in a bar. The third attempt was successful. Me and my girl had been partying all night, and in the hot summer afternoon we fell asleep on the lawn in the Vondelpark. When we woke up, all our stuff was gone. Passports, money, traintickets, the lot. Plenty of people around, no one saw a thing of course. The embassy refused to help us out (they probably had their fair share of this kind of incidents), so we lived like bums for two days until my girlfriend's parents wired money over.
When we headed back to the train station, I saw this guy luying flat on the ground and got an eeire feeling about it. A few minutes later a patrol car arrived and the cops started poking at him. The guy was dead. What I remember the most was the cops' behaviour. No revival attempts or anything, no emergency. No covering over the body or roping off the crime scene. They just stood there chatting with eachother until an ambulance arrived. Just another dead guy, who's counting?

I guess I could have left A-dam with a vow never to return, but for some reason this city's like a magnet (lol). I've never been in trouble there since (touch wood), but I'm older and more careful now. I rarely chum with the crackheads down in the red light district.

oh yeah i forgot to mention i saw a dude get pick pocketed in the rembrant squareish area...it was at like 3 in the morning and the old guy caught him...i guess he only had glasses in his pocket and the guy..the guy goes "HEY HEY GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF MY POCKET" and was obivously drunk and th e pickpocket called him a racist and ran away hahaha

so much happened there i forgot about all this...damn what a funny place

I must be lucky then. I have yet to deal with a pickpocket. From the times I've been to the dam it has proved to be as safe as any other city.

Just the last time I was there I walked around the RLD at 3am wearing nice clothes and noone bothered me....but I must admit....I was aware of the pickpockets and wouldn't let anyone get within a foot of me....so.....ya.
