Yes, the brave crew of the Sea Shephard which are currently enroute to intercept the Japanese whaling fleet to cause them as many problems as they can have stated that they are prepared to be fired upon, in which case then HELL YEAH you'd want the Aussie navy taking evidence of such actions
damned the evidence , sink the whole lot of 'em, and let the whales make sport out of the survivors!!! let your navy show em the bullet holes when they get back to port, thats evidence enough!!!

Btw if I recall correctly the whaling fleet consists of three vessels, two of which are so-called "processing" vessels where the meat is cut up and frozen to prepare it for market back in Japan. (I'm sure there's some sort of science that happens before that though *COUGH*BULLSHlT*COUGH*)

I don't believe they are whaling in Australian territorial waters but are whaling in 'protected' international waters. There would be a major shit storm if Australia fired upon a vessel in international waters...maybe would could lure them over the border and we could have our way with them. :spank:

can you tell im an american yet?

There is more to America than the US...but that's just semantics right mate?

As soon as I saw this thread I knew it would eventually descend into generalised Japanese bashing.

WTF is with people making assumptions about the entire Japanese population. I don't like US foreign policy but I don't apply those actions to the entire US population...How would the majority of US citizens feel if everyone else here implied that they were all war loving hate mongers with no respect for a nations sovereignty...Im guessing I would be labeled a troll and promptly banned...F***ING TOSSERS.

You would be hard pressed to find a Japanese person under 40 years of age who eats whale meat. Just a remnant of older generations. Stop being so damn hypocritical.

Thanks for the links PhenoMenal...glad to see KRUDD is taking the issue somewhere after 11 years of virtual in-action.

hypocritical? damn that, I, ME, I want to blast them to hell as long as it saves some whales!!! and if it was so long ago then why are they still doing it? look someone somwhere is buying whale meat/parts whatever! supply equals a demand correct? so i say we DO do things american style; outright murder the suppliers and assasinate the demanders and then deny having any involvement in the whole thing. oh yeah, but then we gotta get rid of the aussies since theyre the ones "collecting evidence"

ah well im out, want nothing to do with it, if it aint gots no killin ta it!

I couldn't agree more my friend. The Japanese people are a very peaceful people, and World War 2 is long gone. Japan is a friend and ally of both the USA and Australia, as well as trade partners.

This thread has NOTHING to do with Japanese people, it is exclusively about KILLING WHALES.

Plus, Japan is not the only country that still hunts whales. Norway still does as well for example.

Personally, I find it much more offensive that the US and Australia are the only real two main supercountries in this world that do not support the Kyoto Protocol, a measure signed/ratified by some ~150 countries looking to reduce their greenhouse gases by about 10% from 1990 levels.

**** the whales, save the air.

Tronic you are wrong - Australia has just ratified ('signed onto' for the lamens) the Kyoto protocol.

And as for "supercountries", Australia has only just breached 21 million in population. The USA by comparison has over 300 million, and China 1.3 billion, so how are we a "supercountry" !? (it is flattering though)

Im personally against the slaughter of any animal (not just whales), I also believe that most people would stop eating meat if they saw the dirty and disgusting process that goes into making there burger.

not me, i know exactly where my meat comes from...
however i think any1 who wants to eat meat should be aware of the realities of it.
i dont eat battery hens or antibiotic pumped up beef....
Not all meat is bad.
When i have kids ill be taking em to where i grew up to see it, you cant decide anything in life without knowing all the facts. Ie a chickenkikled pluckked and gutted, butchered cooked and put on the plate. Too many ppl nowadys get meat in a nice tidy shrink wrapped pack that bears no resemblance to the animal it came from. All my meat comes from a proper butcher...organic farm shop actually....
These bastards hunting the whales, pretending to be for reearch...what sort of research.. compareing howmany fillets they make on average compared to last year??
lying bastards

Harry, that's the thing that is most frustrating - Japan knows it's hunting whales for meat not research, the WORLD knows Japan is only hunting whales for meat not research (if there was ANY research involved then surely after all these years they wouldve published a single bit of it, but no - there is NO RESEARCH), yet still because of this loophole they're allowed to continue slaughtering whales for food using the guise of "science" to continue bringing whale meat to their markets. It is blatant defiance in the face of the international community.

pretty much how I see it too, if you want to eat meat then you better be able to slaughter and butcher the animal yourself, which is something I could never do let alone watch which is why I eat tofu.

Pheno, Australia may not be a supercountry, but it is a super country. You Aussies need to take a lesson from us Yanks. When we bombed Libya, the French would not allow us to overfly their country, so we accidently dropped a "smart" bomb on their embassy. We apologized, of course, to do otherwise would have been uncivilized. Perhaps your Air Force could have a "training accident" involving a 500 lb. bomb and a whaling vessel.

BTW, we Yanks ARE a war-loving,hate-mongering nation with no respect for national sovereignty. We have proven it far too many times for comfort.

Either war will erupt or the issue will die down, thats the end effect here, and I don't see any countries going to war over whales (oil maybe!) but not whales.
Sucks but its the truth.
unless shell finds a way to make engines that run on ambergris((whale puke for any1 who dont know)) then they'll be "worth" saving

Harry no I did not know that whale puke is called ambergris - see I KNEW the Japanese must've been doing SOME scientific research!

Well, we'll see what we can do. Sometimes shit does happen.
