Are You Ready? Between now and 2012..

On Dec 22nd I will wake up to a new day....like me and my ancestors have done since the dawn of man. The sun will rise and the tides will flow in no different manner then they do today.

But hey....what do I know? I just stayed at a holiday inn last night after saving a bunch of money by switching to Geico.

It does sound intriguing, the self-reliance, independence, surviving only by one's own will to survive, etc. But, I dunno...sounds awfully lonely...and I think with all that alone time, the mind will play tricks on ya and may make ya crack up. . LOL

but "lonely" is a "state of mind''..and I have never been alone in my life even tho I try to spend most my time alone. ("alone"...usually doesnt work w/ friends and family and gf and dog and work).....

I worked w/ a man that lived 20+ yrs "alone" (more than literally in the brooks range) ....he went 20+ years w/ out seeing another human. -27 to 47 +years old..and he's back in the brooks range today...

In 2012, I will be age 49. My father died of a heart attack right in front of me and my family in '75 when *he* was 49. He loved the good life, smoking cigs, drinkin' beer, eatin' steak, bangin' broads, and bettin' on the ponies. He lived it up right to the end. It was hell on our family, tho. I'm the complete opposite from him. The worst thing I do is smoke some cannabis and drink a little wine from time to time. In 2012, I'll be only 3 years from retirement. Dad didn't really have any future plans, but I got plans. I want to have a nice country home with a few acres that borders a forest, like a wildlife refuge. Grow some dope, relax, take it easy, and enjoy life. I got 3 teenagers, so by then I'll probably have grandkids. I want a huge vege garden, a flower garden, a nice shed to grow my cannabis. All the good things in life. I'd like to be an optimist and hope for a better future. Life sucks right now having to go to work everyday and deal with the office pricks, but one day I want my little piece of paradise.

The end of anything is really just a new begining, I don't look at 2012 as the end of man, but rather an end to one of man's chapters in life, a marker for man's progress in life a change in his thinking, a new era...

I remember reading those Alaska land threads you used to post, NOKUY, and thought that was the coolest shit. I even went online and checked it out. Told my wife about it and she thought I was nuts. NOKUY, are you planning on leaving your wife for that dream of being alone? I've gotten in a funk before and told myself "Dammit, I'm leaving my wife and kids, dumping them completely, and living all by myself." But, I really think that would be a dumb decision on my part. Also, very selfish. Plus, I would miss them, regret the decision, and lord knows what I'd end up doing, maybe kill myself? I think depression has alot to do with it, the thought of "I've done such shit in my life, disappointed everyone I ever cared about, so I'm going to run away, and never contact them ever again." I dunno. I would probably enjoy getting away for a while, but long term it would probably not be a healthy or wise decision. To each his own, tho. Maybe I'm hijacking this thread. I guess I'll stop now.

I remember when the world ended on Jan 1 2000. Damn that was hard. The whole world just stopped working, all computers, toasters and electrical goods stopped working and society failed miserably. Nuclear missiles fired themselves, national grid failed.....

By Jan 2 we had it all fixed and everything was dandy.

Ho hum. Maybe i'll take the day off that day and watch the world destroy itself.........until the next morning that is.

anything is possible when you think about how big the world is and how many things are going on... some people say that the calendar points at 2012 as an important event in time because time travel will be discovered; others say that the internet will become conscious of itself (darn!). alien invasion, world revolution, climatic disasters, etc... all things that are possible, but will they happen? time will tell, or not. be good though, nonetheless

Anybody who believes that the world is going to end in 2012 is either a ****ing idiot or a religious nutjob buying into that bullshit. Most people get these stupid-ass ideas from either the Mayan end-of-the-world proponents, who refuse to look onto the next page (the Mayan calendar doesn't end, dipshits.), or those who believe in the Bible Code, whose codes have failed time and time to come to realization, except in hindsight.
