the sugar factory is indeed a worthy establishment in its own right. initially a theater, the space was eventually revamped and turned into club "amuse", which recently gave way to the "sugar factory "-- a multi-purpose venue apparently spawned out of an admiration for the surrealist manifesto and devoted to all things performance in the form of art, music and theater.

clientele; very good looking and completely mashed because, well, this is amsterdam.

interior; the main attraction is definitely the performer, not the physical space. however, all the basics are more than adequately covered with a long, well-staffed bar, large projection screens and a knocking sound system. owing to the building's theatrical heritage, the actual stage is still the most prominent feature of the main room. this setup fortuitously maintains an air of intamacy --oftentimes lacking at the larger clubs -- between crowd and performer. spacious but not cavernous, a sizeable number of party-goers can comfortably get their collective groove on without losing touch with the dj.

I was very impressed with what the Sugar Factory has to offer and the location is great too.

Now let's just hope they don't want an arm and a leg for it! We are preparing a proposal for them and hope to solidify an acceptable contract soon....very soon. As soon as we have the venue under contract I'll be able to place judge and attendance tickets up on Seedbay for you all and get this show really started!

DEFINITELY no disco DJ's .... no worries on that! LOL
