I'd definately love to come, and my wife has sorta kinda maybe ok'ed it (ok, I haven't actually asked yet:D). But I'm planning on attending, because it may be a new hobby, but it's certainly one I've fallen in love with. I'm in the same boat as another poster mentioned - love the hobby, hate having noone to talk about it with.

Some questions - How much should I figure on bringing to have a good time? Nothing extravagent, just comfortable.
If my wife comes, what can she do? She's not an afficianado, and so probably wouldn't be as enthralled as I would with the Cup events. Although, who knows, in that atmosphere, maybe she'd see things differently.

It will be my first time attending an event like this, what can I expect? If the wife doesn't want to come, will I enjoy myself solo, so to speak? I'd hate to find myself in a foreign, by myself, with nothing to do, or something to do and noone to do it with :)

What did Judges passed cost?

Last year Judges' Passes cost US$250.00 and Guest Passes cost US$150.00. Expect possible price variations this year, the Judging system will be broken down into specific Judges for each category, and based on that and the size of the venue, numbers of available passes and prices will be subject to change compared to last year's event. :D

Nite Tiger, lots of awesome shopping occasions in A'Dam, the menfolk who bring their non-smoking wives usually bribe them to get them to come with the promise of a shopping spree :D. Also, lots of beautiful buildings and monuments, museums, galleries, gardens, culture abounds. You should google Amsterdam and find a nice appealing informational website to show to your wife which illustrates all there is to do in A'Dam. believe it or not, there's alot going on besides coffeshops and stoner fun.

It will be my first time attending an event like this, what can I expect?

First and foremost, you can expect to be very stoned for the duration of your trip :joint: I suggest you post more often here, and make some friends. There will be many many people there, for Wake and Bake we were like 40 people lounging around Gypy's shop at 11:00am....if you come solo and don't know anybody, you'll be sure to find some friendly people to hang with, but its always nice to have a buddy from the boards attending. Last year I went by myself....but I had friends expecting me, and never spent a moment by myself . Also, if you buy a Guest Pass, Judges Pass, or enter the Cup, you'll have access to all the awesome activities that Dutch plans for us, and those are plenty occasion to make friends and hang out even if you don't know anybody. We're friendly people :D

Awesome, thanks for the info Indigo!

I'm actually one of the lucky men - my wife hates shopping. The word 'mall' to her is like garlic to a vampire. I gave her $300 the other day, told her to go shopping, and enjoy herself.

She came back with $278, a bag from the thrift store, and her splurge (her words) - A cup of Starbucks.

It looks like I'll be coming alone. She was sitting down looking at stuff with me, we actually got ahead of your advice and found a tourism site. She got all the way to looking up flights with me, then saw the estimated travel time - 10 hours.

She was out on that one. Her words - 'I don't like planes, I've never flown, and you expect the first time I fly to be for 10 hours, over an ocean?!' I'm not sure how else she was expecting to get there, but, meh, looks like I'm flying solo.

Ah well, I'm sure I'll have fun. How can you goto the 420 cup and not have fun? :D

(Random Outta Nowhere) Also, I just noticed that the lady in BOG's pic up there looks exactly like a girl I used to date. Weird. Last I heard, she was in Texas though.

That's a subject of argument in which you will NOT win, don't even try. You're flying solo :D

Believe me, fun is an understatement, and again, you may arrive alone, but you'll have plenty of company and a blast there!

The lovely lady in BOG's pic is indeed a southern belle, but not from Texas, and its Gypsy who has the pleasure of her company, they're soul mates

All those mushrooms and primo hash waiting for me there, at least then there should be some primo herb there too, herb that we here have grown...most of the herb I got from coffeeshops wasnt that good and the hash is usually overpriced...but who says you have to buy from coffeeshops..hehe....mushrooms...hash....m-mmm...

:D Yes indeed bro, I always have a soft spot for these Copelandia cyanescens, kinda like Liberty caps, very much the same imo, and Liberty caps...well, now is the season starting here, we've collected a few already...few thousand :p hope to see you all there so we can have a healing ceremony somewhere....

Mushi Mushi!

That's quite a task being a judge!!
It's not that i wouldn't empty that table... well maybe i wouldn't..
If i somehow did, i wouldn't be standing properly for sure!! heheh :D
One thing's for sure - would need a lot of codfish.... [im a sucker for codfish]

Glad to know growers can enter freely, that will even out the costs a bit more, all it takes is an oz of my best grown - hmm will see about that..
I got where to stay, @ a friends house, wich i haven't seen in a long time but i was afraid of the rest of the budget, the trip is pretty cheap, check ryanair.com or easyjet.com - i've seen some trips around 40€ total costs... talk about cheap!

So... maybe i will go.

Last year we required 28g of cannabis for entry into the grower category...but we have not settled upon this amount for 2006. It could be a bit less, or it could be a bit more, so best wait and see exactly what we decide upon. With the decision to divide entries out into separate judging categories this could effect the amount required to enter. This is a very tricky thing to predict....sure wouldn't want to have more judges than we have samples, so let's wait a bit until I get it all ironed out. Once we determine the total amount of judge passes to be offered in each category, and, how much we are going to provide each judge, then we will have a better idea, although it is safe to count on at least 28g.

Glad to see so many of you getting excited....as we are to be expecting all of you! :woohoo:

Thanks,
dg

Yeah, when she pulled out the 'Flying' card, I knew I was trumped. Can't be with someone for 10 years and not at least get a sense of when the fight is just a waste of effort :)

In all honesty, now that I think about it, I was probably foolish to worry about coming alone. I've never met a cannabis afficianado that I didn't get along with :)

A southern belle?! Uh oh... just say she's not from TN. Not that that would be a bad thing. It'd just be an extremely surreal experience :D

She ain't...:D. But she is lovely and she's a friend of mine and when I see her again she's in for a big hug

Nite Tiger...if you've never been to a Cannabis competition, you're in for an experience, and if you've never been to Amsterdam, you're in for the party of your life, and memories which you'll treasure for years and years to come. You'll have a blast, meet really down to earth and wonderful people, even the air you breath will leave you feeling electric under the buzz....its just something stoners have to do at least once in their lives, like a pilgrimage to stoner Mecca, the Ultimate Party, be there or be square :D

With advertising like that, how could I not come?!

I'm still a noob, but who knows, maybe something in the ol' garden could be entered. If ya don't try, you'll never know, right? :)

Look forward to being there :)

Did you see the lady in pink?

Did you see the lady in pink?

Just one of her good parts shows in that pic but she is the lovely wife of HumboltHigh and she is another foxy lady that did attend last year. She is so sweet. :D

Mrs. BOG won't fly either and she has flown but gets very airsick to the point of puking all the climb and descent. I gave her motion sickness pills but they didnt work and she was mortified. I wasn't with her for that flight and she just doesn't want to spend the money or fly to Europe.

This event has something for everyone but it is of course obcessed with cannabis in all its forms. We are a group of cannabis lovers stoned to the bone constantly. :joint: If that sounds like fun then come...

Everyone who came last year will want to return I am sure because I doubt that any of us have ever had more fun. To me it is always more than that however. It's a chance for Americans, Canadians, Europeans and Everyone to come together in the interntional city of the Earth. :alien:

Land in Amsterdam next 420 and party with us...you are not ever alone with us in Amsterdam. Don't worry about a problem fitting in. We are all kinds and our common love of cannibis is enough to make us comrades. You will be a part of our show if you come and I plan to give out more goodies.

The book and seed deal will be repeated and I hope to have more samples of more of my strains there for sampling with everyone. This isn't about money for me or the other vendors though. This is a party!!!

A party on a scale few have ever imagined. Come party with us in Amsterdam this year and see what a bunch of motivated stoners can do. :joint: BOG

Make it a date just like last year...

Ronley

Would a grower who has submitted his/her 28g entry also be expected to buy an enterance pass?
I have already reserved my flights, and will reserve a hotel soon.

High Ronley, looking forward to seeing you again in 2006! Yes, the special included events we arrange make it such that we do not include a guest pass for grower entrants....it costs nothing for a grower to enter. We will include a pass for the Breeder entrants because the breeders are charged a fee to enter. We can, however, include an entrance pass for grower entrants but would then have to charge an entry fee for the growers, like we do the breeders. I think it's best we leave the entry fee free for the growers so is best to count on purchasing a guest ticket once I get them up on Seedbay....when?.....hopefully soon. :D

Hello DG/all...

We're still trying to get a feel for what will transpire...

Could you please explain the Guest passes/how this works to those of us who've never attended the event? Is this merely admission to the events...or are their other perks associated with such a pass?

I had thought originally about a Judge Pass, but after reading your mail the other day I think it'd be a bit much to ask of the wife to devote 3-4 days ahead of the event..and 3 days for the event...basically...the entire stay...to my addiction...so unfortunately, that dream was short-lived. (DRAT!)

Any details that anyone can offer before these passes go on sale would be appreciated.
