Are there any preppers here on the mag?

Mmmmm... brains soaked in cannabis. Me like......

If Hannibal Lector ate the brains of an ICMag member, would he get a buzz ?

Lone wolf strategy won't work for long term survival, pretty damn simple...especially with the sheepdogs around.

For example....

Those of us with "caches" pooling our resources in a MAG certainly won't be taking any chances....

Y'all are thinking too small.

Do you have a Dr. in your group..... what about an engineer, aggies...etc...

Do you have enough food to last the first 16 months till your potential crops can come in and they can be put away?

Do you have enough wood to heat your shelter (takes about 5 cords a season here)....

Do you have a protected water supply.

Have you prepared your land with invasive edibles to provide a living pantry should your planted crops fail and you have to rely on foragging.

if not.....well I hope you enjoy long pork.

Oh and tho people might try and take our stuff, it would come at a huge cost... Restricted licences are madatory in our MAG. Along with the ability to use the tools.

when i sees that list...

I agree on the costs... It also helps to buy a property that was previously owned by a prepper tho who got a insurance settlement to build a new a new house after burning down the other...lol

So many additions he put in then while he built the house, now would cost 50-75k to put in now...

As for planting invasive species......easier that you would think.... and i don't mean purple loostriff invasive.... more like Fruit and nut trees, vines etc. We don't harvest currently as there is no need and i would prefer if they just keep "expanding".

or a Nurse-equivalent who can do a basic really important thing like disinfect and stitch up a major laceration.

I know a guy from the gym that had a chainsaw accident, where it caught and "ran" on a piece of metal ... into his bicep.

His wife was a nurse, she patched him up at home.

It wasn't a gun-shot wound so she didn't have to report it :woohoo:

But seriously, I think it's very wise to have a supply of within-date-code antibiotics, if possible a nursing kit for doing stitches, and if possible the associated anaesthetics.

Extreme preppers today are no different to those who dug fallout shelters in the 60's....both are a result of being susceptible to the information they were exposed that sets them on the road to being bat shit ker-raizzy

It's smart to have a torch, candles, canned & dry food and stored water to last a week, but if you walk around with cammo face paint and finger on the trigger 24/7 waiting for the hordes of rampaging gay, Muslim, zombie, pinko Mexicans that could be coming over that hill any minute now then you're a nut case who is not much different from the guy who lived in the middle of wheat country who built his nuke proof bunker because the Ruskies were definitely coming!

there's a fine line between being prepared for a power loss, flood, storm, injury etc and being prepped for the imminent upcoming end of the world...the former is a scout, latter is a wanna be Rambo on meth.

Bees are used in parts of Africa to repell elephants from crop fields. Hives all around the perimeter linked together by wires, if the elephant walks past the wire some hives fall on the ground and bees attack the intruder. Can be adaptated to humans I think

No, just the nut jobs who wear face paint, thank goodness they are a tiny part of the Middle American population and a small part of the many preppers out there who are not off their heads ...actually I was trying to point out just how wacky it is to over prepare based on the impossible happening...let's face it, if you live in a quiet part of Montana and are prepping big time for when ISIS attacks, then you are at best miss informed and more likely also a nutter....but if you live in Jordan, Lebanon or Egypt, then that might be a commonsense thing to do.,,if you are living in Syria or Iraq then you would be mad not to.

Imagine the issues they are seeing in Argentina...but in the good old USA...

So lack of mood stabalizing drugs (anti-depressants, etc .etc.)..food, fuel..etc. etc.

In a polite society people might Q up and wait in line.....but something tells me that it just wouldn't be like that in you urban centers etc.

Anyone read or post on suvivalistboards? I gained a lot of good info but I left because I didn't want to be part of a community with so many homophobes and even a good number of racists. The mods tolerated this behavior yet brought down the hammer on anyone who spoke poorly of law enforcement.

Blastfrompast: Did you mean to say Venezuela? As far as I know Argentinas economy is doing great. Had a friend that lived down there for a few years.

I was banned from texasguntalk for expressing my opinions there. It seems that many of the firearm and prepper forums are inhabited by extremely closed-minded and hateful people.
