Are American and Canadian growers biased against Dutch breeders and seedbanks?

Here in the midwest alot of growers order seeds from various seed banks. I would imagine in areas where a variety of clones are easily attainable such as medical states, they don't really have the need or desire to order seeds, especially when some of the seeds are knock offs of the real deal that they can easily acquire.

Well, they both use the same ol' genetics anyway. Nothing new going on there.

I'm not biased against All dutch banks and breeders ... Just the ones who went skunk#1 wild to "reinvigorate" their lines (Henks/DPs skunking of Mazar comes to mind as a ruined seedline) ... need I say more?

I think the regional differences in wee growing should be looked upon with hope and interest...not competitiveness and things like that! A grower from the East Coast of America should be thinking something like, "Wow - look at that SAME plant when its grown in the Netherlands...I wonder what makes this happen, I wonder what makes that happen. I'd love to someday have an opportunity for some experimenting with the different environment" :joint:

No bias; everybody has basically the same amount of 'freedom' to grow out thousands of plants per generation, and they choose NOT TO do that, equally.

Each has the same amount of knowledge about plant breeding: Not enough to do it properly and effectively.

They each have the same burning desire for easy money.

No bias at all. They all are equally stupid, greedy and limited by cannabis prohibition laws.

Many classics come from holland, for the newer stuff, Spain sounds more interesting in terms of europe, of course that is an outsider biased view. Oh yeah and didn't mean by that I'm from US.

Maybe an analogy is in place:

When you visit coffeeshops , lots of them are mediocre and some are really great.

i'm biased towards buzz, and healthy plants - what their geographical location of production or distribution is turns out pretty low down on the list of concerns.

i find many dutch varieties dont fit the breeders description the way that i would expect. it seems that dutch selection of plants drifts towards something sweet and fruity. my idea of skunk is way different than that !!

Since cannabis is a such a broad issue. The issue about smokes being superior has always been around I'm sure. Its a health natural thing to talk about it.

IMO, great smoke and genetics are able everywhere. It seems like to me that the smokers and growers of North Americans smokers are really serious about their smoke. Always wanting the absolute best bar none. We have so many undiscovered strains still around due to the insane prohibition laws. I believe that North America will be the leader in genetics race for 2010 and beyond with California and BC and Ontario leading the pack. Not to mention many undiscovered strains still around on the East Coast seaboard and interior south.

Now about Europe. I believe that the Netherlands are leader in cannabis commercial seed bank industry. I'm sure there are countless other fake bad seeds around in Netherlands. I've been ordering seeds from Spanish banks because of their originality. I think that the Spanish seedbanks will become a huge player on the genetics scene. Of course there is Denmark folks who breed excellent seeds for early finishing traits. Some of buds in Europe really did make see visuals. So thumbs up to you Europe!

I'm just glad that cannabis is now emerging out in the woodwork into the mainstream and that there are so many people who realize that it is precious and want to carry on its diversity.

yes there is a bias... it all goes away whenever you are in a presence of an AAA grade buds that just brings you bliss. In my opinion.. .its way more valuable than gold! Consider all of you who realize the potentials and participating in cultivating of it to be enlightened.

The best is yet to come for sure! Think CWC - Cannabis World Cup.

Will be picking up Mars OG tonight at a club. IE; its all about timing. Where you are at a specific time period.

Location and legendary smokes based on my limited experience:

South California - Jupiter Kush, Cotton Candy Kush
New Jersey - Local hydro, Orange Haze *visuals*
Ontario - Blueberry
Switzerland - Some top shelf from a shop in Internlaken. *My first time buying over the counter. Never will forget on how it feel to be able to look at a menu and buy a specific strain. Too bad forgot what I got* *made me feel like I was rolling around in my head*
Netherlands - Original Misty from Homegrown Fantaseed. *2-d paper Mario visuals*

and oodles more undiscovered.

Who knows that Asia will emerge as a big player in 2013 and beyond with their more exotic strains lol!

Awesome smokes are found everywhere! Biased yes due to geographic location, genetics, outdoor condition and the personality of the smokers. Spread the genetics to make the world a better place!

The truth no one can handle the truth lol

The truth no one can handle the truth lol

We all know the best bud is in BC lol lol jk
Well lots of stories float around about how the Dutch are great growers but know shit about genetics but this comes from ppl that smoke in your smoke shops and I'm assuming are getting watered down versions of whatever. Same if you come to this town and try to buy bud from the streets I'm assuming it's going to suck if you don't know anyone. What I think is good you may think is great which is another problem ppl seem to be running into. Peace out Headband707:dance013:

Before the arrival of Skunk the Dutch had very good genetics, which were mainly landrace varieties. If we go back further in the 1920-1930s there were good strains grown on Java (Indonesia), where you still can find relatives.

This sort of varieties you can still find in the Dutch underground grow scene

Purple Peace is a great example. This is a very nice oldskool strain.

a new type of discrimination has emerged called genetic discrimination..... this discrimination is based on genetic characteristics and includes those individuals who have a gene or genes.......genetic discrimination typically points out taxonomic differences between different groups.

we should not be afraid of segregation,,,,we should embrace it:)

No continental bias, we grow them all. But if the seed biz ever gets legalized here, look out.

Well I have grown all these guys seeds and I can say that ppl are not BSing when it comes to saying WTF is with these seeds?? Not just from the Dutch but from everyone lol... The Dutch are known for the BS on saying things like this plant will be ready in 8 weeks and the plant is ready in 12 weeks almost always not sure why they always give the wrong time on their grows but it does piss growers off as if fucks up the grow. If your thinking one thing and getting another. The other thing the Dutch do is say they have for example Trainwreck and it's nothing like the Trainwreck I get here so again not sure what that is all about. But can't really blame the Dutch for that as who doesn't do that shit ?? LOL LOL really when you get down to it everyone has watered down versions of somones shit..Like I said it's always going to be who you know and what they know lol peace out Headband707

Quite simply.... yes. Why not? Especially considering the fact 99% of their strains are just watered down versions of their American parents (NL, Skunk, Haze)... and crosses of those 3 base strains. The list of hijacked inferior knock-offs goes on....bubblegum, G13, trainwreck, OG Kush?? LOL

No originality. Not to say there aren't decent dutch breeders growing new flavors but my experience has been limited to the former.

It's funny how the American's always think the strains come from them and the Canadians think it's them and on and on lol lol.. I would assume these seeds came from all over the world and we have been stealing the genetics from all over the world from Thailand to Mexico and all ports inbetween. The keys have always been in finding the best pheno . peace out Headband707:dance013:
