i took a few pics with my cam-phone... i have 1 plant out of 12 - in particular - that either has very high resin... or some type of mold.

some advice please... here are 3 pics showing the leaves/plants in question - one shows under the leaf:

hope you enjoy.... and any advice on if that's some type of powdery mold... or just a huge resin push? my mind warns me its probably a mold -> but what do i do about it at this point? im flushing and about to pull them

Kind of looks like mites to me.

If you have powdery mildew, you'll notice on the leaves that it looks like a faint sprinkle of powder.

When you look under the leaves, do you see any tiny black or reddish brown dots? If you do, it's probably mites.

However, you do have some nice looking colas!

those are dead mites. had an outbreak of spider mites about 2.5 weeks ago - they've been dead since. my question is more toward the leaves. and they do seem kind of powdery - which is why i asked :p BUT, could be resin /shrug

compare the top three pictures with the bud shots below them... all taken yesterday except the top 3 are off of 1 plant. i showed the underside of the leaf because of that light tan granular stuff... resin? mildew? hard for me to tell... and ive never seen powdery mildew so im kind of wondering. seems like it might be spreading to a few leaves on the plant next to her too. i know the leaves show signs of nute defficency too, and just a bit of light-bleaching... which makes it even harder to tell.

and if it is - what do i do? anything i can do this late? if it is mildew, is there anyway to save the bud? clean with water then water cure the buds maybe? would just hate to loose 1 this late in the game.

thnx!

Hey kovenant,,I had a few prblems with pw M..when it first apeared it looked like white fuzzy lint on a top of the leaves,,then the powder setles in,,i had an og that was so bad you could tap the stalk and create a litle snow storm..it s hard to tell in your pic.but if you think its spreading it could be p.m..Well at least this problem happend at the end of flower.but if you have p.m it can be a pain to rid..so if you have any cuts,,you should start treating them like they have P.M...p.m stays in the tissue.you cant see it..did you get the cuts from a freind??? Marcus and i used a product called dutch masters Zone and dutch masters penetrator..treat your cuts by spraying em head to toe.underside leaves or like marcus says,Dunk em...you may want to repeat this process every week or two,,, p.m is such a pain, when you think its gone it'll reapear.i heard sulfer burners work..i
didnt have the $$ to buy one.the buds did plump up nicely though,,do you use any bloom boosters???..if its P.M i hope you can get it under control..peace Jimi

i was just looking at your pics again,it doesn't look like what i had.it may be in an early stage,,you said you had higher humidty,,maybe run the dehum at nite times,,maybe its from the mite damage..i dont know"....good eye Core..i didnt see them mites when i looked the first time..ask marcus what he thinks, if he thinks its to late to spay or anything..i dont know if i would spray anything this late in the game.. How do your roots look???any slime or root rot?????,,keep us posted,,good luck Jimi

roots are clean and crisp. i had root aphids half way through flower and used a farming pesticide, then water & zone (same you used against pm)... that wiped out the aphid infestation and cleaned up my roots (they were brown and slushy... yuck!)

i could just be paranoid... that 1 plant just looks different than the other 11. BUT, it is the plant that had the spider mite infestation too... maybe it is just damage from them showing late - and the fact that the plants are beginning to yellow (ripen) /shrug

thanks for helping jimi - and we'll see what anyone else might have to offer :rasta:

Sulfur burner works well when you run it on a regiment. When I first start to notice PM, I run my Sulfur burner for about 3 hours a day, for about a month or so. I have it hooked up to a timer. You have to turn your ventilation off, so put that on a timer too.

There is also this product called Excel, I have it, but never used it. The directions say that you can use it on cuttings that have suspected PM. However, I've never seen PM in the Vegging stage, I've only seen it towards the end of flowering. Rarely have I seen it early on in flowering. But if you've had a previous batch that you've already harvested, and you put some new babies out into flowering, then it PM might surface early on during the flowering stage.

Also too, sometimes I've seen resin develop on the fan leaves and the leaves closer to the buds, so that's definitely a possibility.

thanks herbs. yeah, im really not sure. was hoping the pics might let someone more experienced determine it for me... but perhaps not (and hopefully i just dont have it.)

my room is completely sealed. AC is vented to outside. lights are vented from the outside and vent back out. i dont believe it came from the clones... otherwise i would suspect it would be wide-spread. most likely came from outside (either on me, on my hands, on my shoes...)

either way, dont have a sulfur burner (probably expensive too, im guessing) but i wouldnt have to shut down ventillation since it runs independantly from outside. maybe something i need to invest in down the road. guess im going to bleach the shit out of the room before moving the next grow in... definately want to kill anything that may be left over

I'm jumping in late but agree that's mites and not PM. Looked like it was a pretty bad infestation. Also looks like some over nuting. Pest damage will highlight such problems as the leaves are damaged in that area already.

Mountain ->

well, that eases my mind a bit. it was pretty bad - and it sprung up quick on me (probably started sooner than i realized... but i noticed it quick - i love my girls and spend time with them daily - and they were on the girls next to them next day...)

its good to know that the damage im seeing could be from them and the over nuting.

question i have is: should i use those leaves for hash and/or butter still - or would there be something in/on them that wouldnt be healthy?

thnx for the help guys :joint:

100% mites...i had those things for a while...all that white shit is there eggs...

when they first start to get bad you will notice faint white specs on the top part of the leaves, just like in ur pics..

they are very hard to notice completly because they come in many diff sizes and colors depending on there stage of growth, so you can see a bigger and a look around and see no more, but really there everywhere, not to mention laying hundres of eggs a day...

when you start noticing any type of webbing on top colas thats when its really bad.

you will see though when you harvest ur plants, if you hang them upside down, 6 or so hours later look at the top of ur stem....they ALL crawl to the top and gather..its kind of freaky, but if most of them are dead now, you might not see that.

what did you use to kill them the first time? oh, and the only thing i would do with infested leaves is treat them like moldy leaves and make some ISO hash, you dont want to be smoking eggs and dead creatures

get a PCO fogger, and bomb ur room 3 times 3 days apart after harvest to make sure to get rid of them all

im glad its not powder mildew,,Kovenant.never had a problem with mites..mites laying hundreds of eggs a day sounds almost as bad as powder mildew...do mites atack vegging plants or just plants in flower???and where do mites come from?? soil

Vdro -> thanks for the advice and verifying it was only mites. i used a concentrated form of pyrithium that i added to a sprayer and gave a light dose of foliar nuke... probably not the best, but i wasnt going to go another 3 weeks with that nasty shit. i continued to foliar spray 2.0 pH'ed RO water every other day for a week after that - and dropped my AC to 72F. i had heard they dont like it cold, and they hate low and high pH'ed water.

jimih2 --> they live outside... so they get in various ways. prob most common would be off an animal or if you are outside amongst the local foliage. they could blow in as well, but im sealed up and they arent really a flying creature (though we all know that spider-types can use their webs and kinda fly...) im not an expert by any means - but thats my take on them. i was gifted 1 romulan clone that had spider mites and root aphids - pretty sure thats where the majority of my pests came from... even though i thought i stamped them out early - each pest returned once.

going to bomb the shit outta the room. this time im using light movers and going soil. instead of 12, ill be doing 24-30 this next round.

2 years back it was everywhere. It's around but quality is now questionable as it seems there's lot's or hermie stuff floating around. You'll track it down eventually.
