past results have taught us - hydro (DWC, aero, drip etc...) optimal ph of 5.8
soil/soiless - I personally hover around 6.4 - 6.8 with great results!
Everyone should obviously test ph after all nutrients have been added to the mix. Certain nutrients raise ph and others lower it.
Soiless soil manufacturers (Sunshine/ProMix) try to make the end product as neutral (close to 7) and try to keep it there as much as possible (hence the lime).
If you really want to know what your soil PH is after adding nutes - TEST THE FUCKING RUN-OFF!
The PH tester should be the first thing a new grower should buy, then the according UP or DOWN solution. Not testing your PH can lead to deadly consequences
