Apollo 11 and other Genius Hybrids

Hey there,

I'd describe myself as a bit of a preservist and I am very nostalgic for lines from the early-2000s type era.

I used to have some Joey Weeds Apollo 11 beans (F2 of original Bros Grimm stock).
I quite liked it. Like C99 but a bit less speedy.

I lost those beans in a move and Joey Weeds doesn't stock the Apollo 11 anymore!

So I'm on the hunt for a Apollo 11 seed line/preservation.

I'm also interested in other Genius Hybrids as well!

Any leads? Preferably pure A11 and not hybridized.

I should mention I'm not interested in any of the recently Bros Grimm relaunch stuff. I take provenance seriously and Soul has said some conflicting things in regards to how the new releases were made so I just want to go with the old stuff instead!

I see Bodhi did some work with an Apollo 11 Genius pheno but that was some time ago.

And also Rez used to have his Apollo line. And also the Apollo Mist! Damn what I would do for that. Two of my faves in one!

It's funny to me how amazing the whole C99, Genius and Apollo 11 genepool are but it seems they are at the risk of going extinct! I suppose they are a bit of a niche as they aren't the typical dank high THC weed but for my brain chemistry they are the absolute best daytime smoke I can have. Other sativa hybrids mostly feel quite heavy to me actually (SSH, Mango Haze, etc all have some body to the high which makes me feel tired)

Yeah, the F2s I had of Apollo 11 were great! I'm so surprised I can't find a commercial offering of her anymore. I don't want it to be gone forever. I've read of a couple seed Co-Ops on another site but kind of too late to get in on that

I'm also so surprised it seems nobody has done a Genius Bx??

Anyone that knows of such things please chime in!

Best bet would be to look on the discords for someone with a pack of bodhi A11 genius seeds. He quit making them when mr something else returned. Brad at HD was supposed to ask about the A11 from JW but he didnt ever respond and they have not returned. The AK were decent but nothing that screamed keeper out of the first pack, all males turned female hermie too which I have never heard of esp all of them doing it, but the AK were pure old AK.

Yes that's what I heard about the Bodhi line as well... And I also asked Brad about Joey's Apollo 11 returning and he also never got back to me on it. . Which is bizarre because he's usually very to the point.

That's great to hear about the AK. Sucks about the male plants being hermies though. Another person I saw ran a couple packs and had the same thing happen. Which is odd because Katsu is selling AK47 F3 for top dollar and it's based off Joey's F2 line. I asked him if the males were herm and he said no not at all. So either the old Joey AK didn't have male herm problems and the new does or something else is going on

I'd describe myself as a bit of a preservist and I am very nostalgic for lines from the early-2000s type era.

I used to have some Joey Weeds Apollo 11 beans (F2 of original Bros Grimm stock).
I quite liked it. Like C99 but a bit less speedy.

I lost those beans in a move and Joey Weeds doesn't stock the Apollo 11 anymore!

So I'm on the hunt for a Apollo 11 seed line/preservation.

I'm also interested in other Genius Hybrids as well!

Any leads? Preferably pure A11 and not hybridized.

I should mention I'm not interested in any of the recently Bros Grimm relaunch stuff. I take provenance seriously and Soul has said some conflicting things in regards to how the new releases were made so I just want to go with the old stuff instead!

I see Bodhi did some work with an Apollo 11 Genius pheno but that was some time ago.

And also Rez used to have his Apollo line. And also the Apollo Mist! Damn what I would do for that. Two of my faves in one!

It's funny to me how amazing the whole C99, Genius and Apollo 11 genepool are but it seems they are at the risk of going extinct! I suppose they are a bit of a niche as they aren't the typical dank high THC weed but for my brain chemistry they are the absolute best daytime smoke I can have. Other sativa hybrids mostly feel quite heavy to me actually (SSH, Mango Haze, etc all have some body to the high which makes me feel tired)

As I recall, Bodhi stopped producing Apollo 11 crosses and using the Genius clone out of respect for Mr. Soul upon his announcement of his return - but before he released his new seeds.

Mr. Soul's first release of seeds after his comeback, in my opinion, produced Cinderella 99 seeds that were not producing plants as good as the original seeds produced at the turn of the century (having grown a verified original clone of C99 during that period of time and read everything about C99 posted to Cannabis World back then and since).

Which brings me to Apollo 11. There seems to be less Apollo 11 grows from the new seeds than there are of C99. I never grew her back in the day and wasn't as interested in following Apollo 11 as I was C99 - so, I don't know the original Apollo 11 to make a comparison with the newer release.

In my opinion, Mr. Soul's credibility concerning Apollo 11 or any of the newer seeds produced by Brothers Grimm is negatively effected by what I know about the original C99, what he's produced since and what he's said about it. But, that doesn't mean the new Apollo 11 isn't as impressive as the original seeds were - I'm just not in the position to know - yet, I've wondered about this since 2017.

Hopefully someone who has grown the old Apollo 11 and the new Apollo 11 will find this thread so we can see if it's the same story with Apollo 11 as it was with C99. If it's the same story with Apollo 11 - I think Bodhi should re-consider his moratorium on producing seeds with Apollo 11 or the Genius clone (and perhaps let a few of those Genius clones out to some of us too).

I like the way you think. Maybe I'll try to contact Bodhi directly, if that's even possible. These genetics deserve to be preserved. And since it's just for us nostalgic nerds it's not like it's for some big commercial enterprise that might 'step on toes' of who owns what names and lines and when and such.

And yes, Genius clones please! Although I heard she's a really strange one to grow, grows kind of horizontal and carpet like, kinda like Cheese. I remember Apollo 11 doing that a fair bit. The plants were very branchy and the zig zag stems people talk about certainly lead to lots of outward growth. Still manageable though and great for SCROG

I just ordered Brothers Grimm beans from North Atlantic Seed Co. 0 of 3 fem seeds germinated and 1 out of 5 BG reg. freebies cracked but didn’t send out a root. North Atlantic Seed Co. wouldn’t replace them and told me to contact BG. BG’s email is non existent on their web sight when you click on it. Buyer beware these are old dried out seeds. Meanwhile all but one 12yo Serious seeds Kali germed.

Dutch Flowers was a legendary seed producer responsible for Apollo Trip, Lemon Thai, Chocolate Thai, Blowfish, Metal Haze and others, usually produced in very limited seed pack numbers resulting in prices for seed packs being sold for thousands of dollars. Subsequent seed sellers of Dutch Flowers F2s have made careers based on it.
