Honestly get involved in group classes. When you have other to help motivate and a good instructor that can show proper mechanics, paired with low SUGAR foods... That will promote life style change.

If you have not seen the movie FEDUP then you should go out of your way to watch it!!

You won't lose much weight lifting weights, you need to do running or cycling; running is better. If you can't run then go walking.

They say weight loss is 70% diet and 30% exercise, so don't expect much from your weight lifting unless you address your diet as well.
No coca cola and the like, no beer and no fast food, eg. fries and fried chicken.
^^^, Feather nailed it, you need to do lots of repetitious exercise, fuck.. thats gonna hurt, also you just gotta consider all that other health going on too, like smoking and weed smoking, also general habits avoid being liek my buddy, he went to Thailand for a liposuction, and cam back far worse, like his gut was sucked out, and is living on soup, also kfc gravy too.
Swimming is the best also biking..

i think what you meant is NO ONE should power lift without a spotter.

whats happening big johnny? hows the progress? did you stick to a program?

Juicing(with fresh greens, fruit etc.) is a great way to start changing your diet...after a few weeks of 16-20oz green drinks your body will literally tell you to fuck off any time you even consider eating junk food, did for me at least...kinda sucks because now most food is disgusting hahaha.

I'm a big guy, I want to be healthy...I'm more into lean body mass though, as that seems to be the easiest on/healtiest for the body...I do think however that if I weighed any less than 200lbs I'd be skin and bones...my goal is 215lbs, currently @285lbs, so I got a ways to go but I'm in it for the long haul...ultimately I think it all comes down to commitment, and being able to visualize your own success...

it's been on and off, I've had kind of a fucked up month but I haven't given up and I'm still sticking with the same routine I started with, but I've only done maybe 2 weeks worth of work so far.

I have been trying to eat less though, I don't have a scale so I don't really know if it's been working, and due to my inability to keep up the workout daily I have only seen the smallest of improvements.

do you have dogs? walking the dogs a couple miles a night is cake, they love it...and it's good for ya...I've torn both my acls, had surgery, and have shitty knees in general...just gotta smoke the pain away...plus the more you do it the more you want to do it, just really have to hold yourself accountable at the beginning until it all becomes routine.

eating less is good but eating the right things is better, even if you eat more of the right stuff...and ultimately you have to be active enough for your body to process what your taking in

not that I'm really one to talk, but I weighed 305lbs when I was 16-17, when I was 19-21 I weighed 215lbs...so I've dropped a fuckload of weight once, and I know how it worked for me at least...

visualize the success man! it's a night and day difference the way you feel, and the physical things your capable of when your not carrying around the extra weight.

It can be hard to grasp at first but a lot of times, in order to lose weight, you have to eat more.

10 pushups, 10 situps, 10 lunges, 10 diamonds, 20 crunches, 10 diamonds again, 10 up downs, 40 flutter kicks, 10 pushups, 40 mountain climbers, 20 frog kicks, 10 wide arm pushups, now hold the plank for 1 minute, 40 flutter kicks.

Repeat, repeat. Am I missing anything? LOL

I know what you mean. I got that same feeling about a year ago.

At the risk of repeating what im sure has been said a lot, ill tell you what ive been doing which has given me somewhat decent results.

1. Food.
You are what you eat. This one is especially hard given the nature of our shared love of cannabis. I bet a lot of people here suffer from the same things i did. Wake up early, work all day, come home and tend to the garden, smoke great weed, do other homely duties and become extremely hungry, haha.... You have to start with what you eat, fat comes from the things you eat so your best shot at a lasting victory in the battle against weight loss would be to limit certain items.
fast food no more than 1-2 a week
limit processed foods / snack foods - slim jims, chips, cakes, cookies, whatever...
limit sugar - sugar isnt a bad thing, we need it, but in moderation. Using better sweeteners is also a good idea. honey, agave and the like.

After that its all switching to nutrient dense, low caloric natural foods. Fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts.. that sorta thing.

2.) Exercise - Im not terribly big on this one, what i mean to say is i dont go crazy gym-rat, but i have upped my physical activity more than 200%. I walk as much as possible. Even at work ill take stairs, long routes and even walked during breaks. I bought myself a smartwatch last September and its been pretty cool to know how many steps youve taken and whether or not you should be more active. I usually aim for 12k steps a day. I work a physical job that requires some lifting so i have the foundation of a decent muscle mass. I lift free weights and kettle bells, I use a small weight bench for bench presses and for the leg attachment that allows me to use my upper legs front and back. I use the bench press bar for curls. I dont necessarily go for max weight here, i do what im comfortable doing and work on reps.
In a complete workout day i will work all day, walk the dog for 30min and then
150 crunches
30 pushups
legs (front) 45 lbs, 10 reps 5 sets
bench press 100 lbs 10 reps, 3-5 sets
legs (back) 45 lbs 10 reps 5 sets
elliptical 20-30 min, i stagger resistance like interval training so i do 30s (3) 30s(7) and repeat for 20 min. (10 min 3, 10 min 7)
30 pushups
150 crunches
done.

3.) commitment - Which i feel is probably more important than either 1 or 2. Without sticking to your guns and only allowing yourself to slip and cheat every so often youre gonna bounce right back to where you were and all of your effort was for nothing. Losing weight is more than just dropping pounds, its about keeping it off.

oh, im 30+. 5'6" and was 196 lbs. I am currently 178 lbs. I feel like i look a lot better now and my wife agrees! haha. But i feel a whole lot better. When i started doing this i felt like crap, constantly hot, annoyed and just felt like i was wasting away... I remember not being able to do 15 min straight on the elliptical on resistance 1! Now i can do 3-4 for well over an hour. The change is great and i feel like ive lost 25 lbs of fat and gained about 7 lbs of muscle so far. I still have a way to go, tho. My goal is to get to 170 - and go from there!

best of luck to you!

You need to raise your metabolism and the key to that is keeping food in you to metabolize. This is why people suggest to eat smaller meals but more frequently. It keeps your metabolism humming along, raises your temperature and makes you burn more calories, even at rest. Of course, healthy food choices are important.

I do NOT need to raise my temp. trust me, I sweat like niagra falls and it's not because I'm out of shape, I just always have ever since I was a kid.

when it's 20 degrees outside, I'm fkn hot and sweating if I'm doing anything, even as much as just walking.

I sweat so much on a warm day it looks like someone is pouring water over my head.

Skip to 1:43 and keep watching..... that's basically what I look like when I sweat.

your body is probably full of toxins if you're sweating that much...have you ever done a flush/detox? sweating is good! just drink a lot of water, keep sweating and keep drinking water...A glass of water before you eat/drink(even coffee)/smoke anything when you wake up goes a long way... but ultimately it all falls into holding yourself accountable.

I think maybe you misunderstand a bit, I've sweat like that since I was a child, I run extremely hot for some reason. I've been known to emit steam when it's like 10-15 degrees.

It's currently 22 degrees in the house I'm at, I'm sitting here typing and my forehead is already beading up.... I have to go crank the AC down...or up.

As for water, I have a large 2L thermos, and that is my main drinking vessel if I'm just drinking water, and I fill that thing 3 or 4 times during the course of a day.

It's honestly fucking ridiculous how I'm so hot and how much sweat my body produces.

I'm not saying I'm not full of toxins, because I most assuredly am, but this heat/sweating issue is something that's plagued me my entire life.

I tried thermogenic fat burners once and I thought I was going to die.... in the middle of winter.

Have u been to the Dr lately? They can test for certain things that could cause it. I told my doctor I'm naturally hot and always tired when I get home from work and he ran thyroid tests. Just a thought.
