From what I've read a silencer is pretty pointless unless its for a .22 low velocity round..

My apocalypse guns:

the AA12 -- the ak47 of shotguns

.22 rifle for hunting (ammo is light)

little .22 revolver for the ankle holster

a handgun probably 9mm glock

and i dunno a FUCKING SWORD.. it is the apocalypse might as well have style

Used to be one of the top gun smithing school was in Colorado Springs, community college if I remember, was thinking about that back in the 70s had a friend that had gone though the school. He started out by making his gun smithing tools before you start any gun work.

As far as I know the gunsmith program was never
offered at the Springs (Pikes Peak)CC.
We tried to get it started in the
mid 80's but were never able to get approval from the state.
Trinidad Co threw a fit because they would have lost students to the Springs.
Damn shame but they did have a point.

Trinidad does have a good program or maybe Lakewood?

I check the show out on occasion.
One of the few reality shows I will watch.

Red Jacket supplies some of the best AKs on the market.

Not true.

Also "silencer" is a Hollywood term. The correct name is "suppressor".

Suppressors are extremely useful in many different applications, other than just a .22.

On a AR15, a suppressor can lower the noise to that of a .22. Which makes it easier on the operator when firing in a building or close quarters. It also helps in masking the location, of where the person actually is firing from.

I saw a few episodes a few weeks ago. From what I saw they are full of shit about mostly everything. Mostly they just reinvent the wheel.

My dad is a federally licensed gunsmith so I grew up around firearms, and while I don't pretend to know crap about guns I do know that silencers and suppressors are %100 illegal in the USA. Illegal to own, build, or even possess the plans to manufacture. As are fully automatic weapons and any weapon that can be switched, even the parts to convert one would cause arrests.

The AK/shotgun "master key" he cobbled together was a joke, Browning and Winchester have manufactured them since Viet Nam.

The old black powder muzzle loader pistol that had the plug in the barrel is another example of complete ignorance. The plug was a wool breach slug that was inserted into all muzzle loading firearms when the are entered at auctions.
The wool slug usually had a string attached with a tag dangling from the bore that was certified for safety. The idea of the wool slug was that a worm could easily snag it but when inserted, prevented any spark from entering the chamber if somebody tried to load the gun in the auction house.
They made it sound like a complete mystery and made a whole episode out of it. But it was standard practice and even law in a lot of states, and they even made a tool for removing them, called a breach worm or slug worm.

I lose interest quickly when they start trying to feed my bullshit, even in small doses.

That's a nice end of the world arsenal.

S&W has one of the best .22 rifles I have seen yet, it's called the M&P 15 and I believe you can buy a fully auto version :D

I would like an M&P 15 a few cans of ammo and a machete.

.

You are 100% wrong.

Class 3 items can be bought and sold through class 3 dealers, as long as a $200.00 fee is paid to the BATF for the tax stamp. That includes suppressors, pre-86 Full auto weapons, and pre 86 sears.

You are also wrong about Red Jacket.

Google class 3 firearm sales, and it's pretty straight forward....

If you have a spare 100k and a clean record, this belt fed MG could be yours!!

Thank you Bobby!

You beat me to it...

Red Jacket has all the necessary paperwork in order to conduct business in the state of Louisiana.... and the U.S. as well. There are several states that they aren't allowed to ship to, however. Business HAS TO BE conducted through a weapons dealer that holds a Federal Firearms Liscense.

A few years ago, I worked about a block away from Red Jacket.... every now and again, we would hear random explosions and shit.....lol........the dude that I worked with would just shake his head and mumble..."fuckin' red jacket!".

SORRY for the double post, but I thought it was important to mention:

Anyone considering purchasing any of their weapons... once they check you out, there is a 6 month wait on any firearms.

mostly custom firearms ....and not shit that u can hack together in the garage

...prolly gonna actually start checking out some gunsmith programs....id love to do the shit they do
I know you're all about being prepared so I'll assume you have a few survival guns. learn to work on those 1st, buy a couple of trigger parts maybe some springs and practice on your own toys.

Try to figure out what might break in your guns by asking a qualified gunsmith then buy those parts & keep them on hand.

Having those parts on hand and at a time when the craps already hit the fan might help. Satisfy your lust for this knowledge by looking into an online gunsmith course. who knows, in times of need gunsmith skills could be good barter.

How to Own Class III Weapons
Basic Guidelines
Owning a class 3 weapon (machine gun / silencer) is relatively simple. There are several rules and regulations that individuals must comply with. They are very simple and one should not be intimidated by paperwork. First let me address a few questions, before you ask them.

You may only own a machine gun that was manufactured and registered with the BATF before May 19, 1986. Weapons manufactured after that date are restricted for Military and Law Enforcement use only. Economics 101, the law of supply and demand should start coming to mind by now. This is why these weapons are somewhat “pricey”, when compared to current production weapons. “Simply”, the reserves not being available, controlled commodities always make for an excellent investment. The price is only going one place, Up!

An individual purchasing a “ National Firearms Act Weapon “, NFA weapon or class 3 weapon is required to pay a one time, $200 Federal Excise Tax fee. This fee has been the same, since 1934. It has never changed or has the simple requirement for owning a NFA weapon. These rules and regulation were set forth in 1934, because of the readily availability of machine guns to people like, Bonnie & Clyde, Dillinger, etc.. They permitted the Department of Justice to prosecute criminals under Federal Law. This had a little more "bite" than local laws.

To obtain an NFA weapon, you must first select one. The reason is, forms are required to transfer the weapon from seller to buyer, requiring specific information. There are several types of forms to accommodate these transfers. A form “3”, accommodates dealer to dealer transfers (Class 3, in or out of state). A form “4”, accommodates dealer to individual transfers, within the state. Unlicensed individuals may not transfer class 3 weapons directly into their state. An active Class 3 license is required to execute the transfer. If you hold an active standard FFL, you may transfer the weapon in directly, however the law enforcement signature, photographs, and fingerprint cards are still required, as well as the $200 FET. We will be happy to help you in the selection of a reputable Class 3 dealer in the state that you live in, however, the final decision will be yours.

The form “4” is quite simple. It will be filled out in duplicate by your Class 3 dealer, showing the current owner of the weapon and address, your name and address, description of the weapon and serial number, etc.. You will be given the forms, along with a set of fingerprint cards. On the back of the form is a place for your photograph and your local law enforcement official’s signature. If you are transferring the NFA weapon to your corporation, this Law Enforcement signature is not required. See “Corporate Transfers” or contact us for more details.

The required signature may come from a multitude of sources. The Chief of Police, the Sheriff, District Attorney, a Federal judge, State Chief of Police, etc.. Typically the person signing this form “4”, will conduct a background check on you, insuring that you are a person in good standing, within your community. If you have a criminal background or questionable past, you will be denied a signature at this point. In fact, even if you are a fine upstanding member of the community, you will find this part of the NFA weapon acquisition, the most difficult. Why? Most of the local law enforcement officials today, are no longer police officers, but unfortunately, appointed politicians. You will find that they typically do not sign such documents, with their eyes closed and will generally give a “no” response via a “clerk”, when you call up like “Lever Action Bubba” screaming that he has to sign this form, so you can have your machine gun. The “no” answer is to slow down 99% of the individuals that just think they want a class 3 weapon. If you are dealing with a clerk and not him directly, this is what you deserve. However, there is the remaining 1%, that will do something intelligent, like make an appointment to talk about the signature, maybe have a cup of coffee, etc..

After you have obtained an official signature, return the forms along with your photographs (taped to the back), your fingerprint cards, and your check for $200, (payable to The Department of the Treasury) to your dealer. All of this information, along with the FET fee, will be forwarded to the BATF and they will begin the process of transferring the ownership of the weapon to your name or corporation. No, you don’t give up all your rights at this point. It is the question that I get asked the most at this point. Search warrants are still required by law, these days, even for an individual that owns a class 3 weapon. These are “bubba” stories.

The majority of states in the U.S are actually Class III states..

State by state overview

As above (pre-86), supply/demand, one might also be surprised at the tag they carry....(Something nice, suppressed HK, etc....your looking at $20k and/or some change give or take.....)

Or that this piece of metal (properly registered), can cost upwards of $15,000.00.
