Piff is not even around in NYC any more, not the real stuff. It was controlled by Dominicans. They never let that cut out to no one, I Lived in NYC at the peek of the Piff era.
It was grown in Florida on large farms hidden with other crops, they would ship 1000 pounds a week to NYC. and it was produced exclusively for the NYC market, some made it out to Boston but thats it.
The cut never left Florida, and it got busted in 2005. No more real Piff/Haze after that.

There's certainly real sour here. Same as its in Europe. Big name breeders trade cuts world wife. Dream on sonofsour people like reef and chi don't have legit cuts.
All I know is I've never smelled a plant that I would describe as Sour. Plenty of lemon and pine and fuel though.
The whole discussion seems a bit pointless though. And plenty of seeds have been sprouted that came from those elite cuts. It's inevitable there will be very similar results coming from those seeds, even if not identical. Sometimes you get better plants from seed. I'm pretty sure Tom Hill replaced his Bubba (I think Katsu?) cut with an S1 from it that was superior.

Pop some Sour Kush or Holy Grail Kush from DNA/Reserve Privada, and you 'll smell some sour plants.

I just popped reefs sour pink kush. Ecsd x pink master mom.
Also at the same time popped 5 sour nightmare kush from sin city.
the sour pinks are the most vigorous seedlings I've ever seen.
If you go to attitude they have a sour subsection.
Lol aside from original sour d there's tons of legit shit sour as hell on the market. Sage n sour is very good.
A couple years ago I guy from riu was in my town and gifted me some "sour shit" seeds as he called it. Lol it was some sour shit too. Have no idea what it was but it made me cringe it was so sour to the tounge.
Reef said he's got lots of sour work coming. Sour x Larry og that sounds deadly. Lol let anyone say we don't have it reality is there's people here who have the shit. I'd love to see a ecsd s1. Lots of possibilities with that one. A CBD version would be cool... I'd dig trying that...

That cross sounds epic....the PK in the Starlet is one of my personal favorites and I know from personal experience that it blends/contributes beautifully in crosses....fwiw.
