I went vegan as of yesterday. After reading a blog on StevePavlina.com about going vegan and the benefits. About a few years ago I started eating vegan just because it was healthier, but I wasn't trying to. I just wasn't buying anymore meat at the stores because it was expensive, and I don't like buying factory farmed crap. Thats disgusting.

Anyways I'm going vegan for 30 days to see how things feel.

Ordered some of those stevia plants to be shipped this spring. They say hard to grow and the seeds don't sprout well, but down here I think I can keep cuttings going for "our" winter (two months tops more like six weeks). If I can get them to grow that is.

Hell yeah! I originally read about stevia in a burgess catalog, haha. I'm actually buying seeds instead of plants though, I found one site that claims 50-80% germination, I'll try to find the address again if I can for you. I'm also trying to find "highland" rice seeds. It grows in a field like grass or wheat, no need for a "paddy". But I can't find any so far. My main goal is to obtain as many self-sustainable food sources as possible.

ganico- thats tight. i'm finally gardening now... i have a few garden beds. I'm going to expand hopefully big time. Since I'm doing vegan, I'm going to try to feed myself as much as possible from it. I'm going to have SOOO many tomatoes. Its fucking amazing how easy it is to grow your own food...

For those not already familiar with it, I can highly recommend the short book "Diet for a Small Planet". It was published years ago but addresses many of the issues being discussed here, in my opinion.

Peace.

having lamb chops for dinner. thank god for food w/a face. thank you god.

blessed be the meat that feeds me. just a bonus to get to kill it my self.

I worked in a slaughter house. Happiest day was when I beat the old record of 44,258 for one shift kill rate. I ran the punch. Spike, hammer, whatever you wish to call it. It did the trick.
