I have to agree with you last statement. We don't know shit about the human brain and we are fooling ourselves if we think that we do. I still believe that increased protein consumption had something to do with increased brain size, but there could be other factors as well. This didn't happen overnight and I am still not positive that all humans are intelligent. Look at G. Bush!

I would be fairly sure there are other factors as well...

My favorite meat is chicken

I'd like to get some money to buy some rural land and grow most the food I eat, and raise my own chickens. I could live with chicken and the occasional fish as my only sources of meat. But I eat chicken almost daily.

But what really interests me is providing your own "sugar". The leaves of the "stevia" plant are naturally 10 times sweeter than refined sugar, you could make a dry extract using plain alcohol (moonshine for example). Much healthier than sugar or artificial sweetners, for free at that. If I had a few chickens and a milk cow I'd be set. You could grow the rest.

I sound silly? Your the one screaming about pollution making excuses why you drive a protege instead of a hybrid. Wanting others to do their part while you make excuses for not doing yours make you sound silly.

You say I am not doing my part.....

I have spent the last 10 years researching permaculture techniques and sustainable energy methods, and am in the process of implementing the creation of an off the grid, fully independant permaculture community.

I do not eat meat, I buy organic, use minimal aluminum and plastic, reuse and recycle everything, compost and walk/bike whenever humanly possible.

I am not, however, in a position to buy a hybrid or a diesel car at the moment.

You, by your own admission "don't give a fuck" about the ramifications of your actions*, refuse to even begin to recognize any of the data I have posted (or anyone else for that matter) and continue to harp on the one thing you can...the fact that I am too poor to afford a more efficient car. You fail to see the difference between having an extra 5-25K for a better car, and going to a different store and paying an extra 4 bucks for a steak (that tastes better and is much healthier).

You blow everything I have posted off on the basis of that one fact... I can't afford a hybrid or diesel. That one fact makes everything I say wrong, and you right......according to you.

Well Mr N, that is not a very mature or well developed debating style, and I for one have grown tired of this exchange....you don't respond by adressing the points others make.... you just blow people off.

I love meat and say what you want about me. I dont give a fuck how we get it. Look at Africa and wild animals. They slaughter each other in order to eat. They eat animals alive, they play with half dead animals before they eat them and their deaths are slow and painful. Where is the fuckin protest on animal cruelty for the prey animals? Thier aint one cuz they are doing what they have to in order to live. same as humans. As far as rest of animal kingdom we are actually kinder to our food than any other animal.

(The original poster was not refering to animal rights, but an article about the wanton and obscene destructon of entire ecosystems by an irresponsible profit-mongering company. No animal destroys its home to produce unhealthy food....no other animal slaughters wholesale and indescriminately as human do (read about bottom trawl fishing), with such high waste and environmental damage factors...kind indeed we are.)

I HATE CHICKENS... Land carp... So I try my best too eat as many as I can. Everyday there is one less chicken on this earth thanks to me... Damn farmers just keep hatching them though... :pointlaug

Those black sulkies are sooo cool, had some a while back, so tame I think they thought they were cats. Looked like they had black mohawks running around called them "my Punk rock chicks". small eggs but they'll lay alot. Good sitters too, never needed a "incubaiter".

Ordered some of those stevia plants to be shipped this spring. They say hard to grow and the seeds don't sprout well, but down here I think I can keep cuttings going for "our" winter (two months tops more like six weeks). If I can get them to grow that is.

So i am supposed to be impressed that you have done reseasrch for the past 10 years and havent done shit? So while you have wanted to decrease pollution and people to stop buying meat from factories ASAP , you on th eother hand need 10 years of research before you do shit? Thats called " talkin the talk, not walkin the walk"

So you make make it sound grand liek you have these amazing plans but the fact of the mattter is you aint doing shit. Yet have this hoier than thou attitude like you are.

So have fun researching and making excuses why you dont do your part. As i said , excuses are like assholes. Everyones got one and they stink. You aint doing shit but research. in the past 10 years im sure you could have put forth some of your principals into practice. But there are 2 kinds of people in this world, those that talk and those that do. You happen to be just a talker. Amusing you want others to change yet you can research for 10 years.

Just so you know Mazda Proteges emit polution when you drive them and hybrids put out less. JUst thought i'd save you a few years of research so you can stop polluting and start doing.

Blah blah blah...

I am doing something...I am doing everything I can, and strive to do more all the time.....you are doing squat, and proud of it.

Grow up and learn how to debate and argue like an adult, Mr N....not like a 6 year old pointing fingers and saying:

"Oh yeah...what about YOU!?"

This is what you said

If you truely enjoy eating meat, want to continue doing so and have kids you hope will inherit a planet that can actually support them, put your money where your appetite is and buy small farm raised organic meat that is raised in a traditional manner.

That way you get better meat, you support small family farmers, and you are not participating in a truely malignant and evil way of producing food

I stopped arguing with folks over the moral issues of killing for food many, many years ago......the enviornmental issue is very different. You eating meat affects YOU ALONE........eating factory-farmed meat and supporting that industry affects EVERYONE.....

If the market demanded it, the industry would have to change........but folks seem to only think of their bellies and their wallets.....not the future of their kids.

You were the one saying " put your money where your appetite is" as a direct challenge to people that eat meat. I say put your money where your mouth is to you. You are the one wanting peopel to stop hurting the planet with pollution yet you drive a protege and make excuses why. So again, put your money where your mouth is, or quite simply stop talking shit. YOu want people to do something you yourself arent willing to do. Which is the definition of hypocrisy.

Has nothing to do with " oh yeah , what about you" it has to do with you wanitng people to change thier ways since you say it has an effect on you. Well you pollute with your protege but dont do shit about it. You cant ask people to do something you arent willing to do yourself

blah blah blah.....again.

You just said the same thing you said in your last post.

This is getting really boring, mr N.

Until you can actually debate a topic, and actually respond to facts people post instead of blowing them off, I will not be responding to your repetitive fingerpointing posts anymore.

I deal with enough kids at home with my 3...don't need to bust my head with them here too.

I have debated this topic well with alot of fact. You however just seem to inject your opinion as how people should live and not pollute yet you arent willing to do so. Just sit around and research never acting. Im not fingerpointing at all, what i am asking is how you can tell others to put their money where their appetite is , but you cannot put your money where your mouth is. Just make excuses that you are researching. So when are you gonna start walkin the walk , not just talkin the talk. Another 10 years of research? :pointlaug

grat3, pops, we struggled through the shit :dueling: and somehow made it out pretty well :joint: i give ourselves a pat on the back :D :friends: :joint:

after all the things i wrote, i noticed i never discussed the point of the thread :biglaugh: personally, i eat some animal parts and dairy (when i say it like that it sounds a bit crazy to be eating animal parts :D ), although i do not eat pork nor mix dairy with the meats i do eat. fish is ok too, but i don't eat it often because i am a lousy fish cooker. i eat a lot of fruits, seeds, vegetables, bee's honey, sugar cane is the bomb in all its traditional extractions, u get the idea.

peace

Paz, I'm glad that I didn't have to fly all the way down there to slap the crap out of you. Maybe someday, we can meet and have a steak together(to help grow our brains) and smoke a couple bowls. (We will also have some veggies to make you happy).

Worrying about where your food comes from or what it is is a sign of your amazing wealth. Hungry people have no time for such nonsense.

Americans and Europeans enjoy a standard of living that is unheard of in the rest of the world. The fact that you get in your car and drive to a store where you pick out whatever you want to eat is a sign of your unbelievable wealth. The fact that you want to be picky or critical of where your food comes from is a sign that you have TOO MUCH food and maybe you need to go hungry for a while as a reality check.

Well, Hotcha, I 'm getting hungry so I am going to go have a bowl of cereal, which is much worse for me than a piece of lean meat. Man wasn't meant to eat cereal grains. Our stomachs can't handle it. I have tried the hunger thing. Didn't like it!

i don't know how much that applies to reality...

i am not american nor european, and i have been in the amazon, where local goverments want to give food hands out to certain natives and they refuse it on the basis that it is the amazon that provides for their nourishment, physical, mental and spiritual. accepting nourishment from the people who have brought pollution to their home would be likened to accepting their values as well.

this is also true of many people who are from modern cities who won't eat fresh vegetables or who won't drink water, just kool-aid and shit like that...
a matter of world vision i guess.

pops, no slapping please :yoinks: , steaks, veggies and spliffs are welcomed though :joint:
you know, venezuela produces one of the finest cow's meats of the world, the area of 'santa barbara del zulia' is notorious for its huge cow pastures where cows freely gaze and feed on top notch grasses and salts, not grain fed. best way to cook it is to simply salt it and put it to cook slowly over a wood fire, very tender well tasting meat.

paz!

Try Wild Game if you can get it1

Try Wild Game if you can get it1

I'm a long time hunter of Deer (Whitetails) and Razor Backs (Wild Hogs), and personaly I find the meat very tasty. I rarely if ever eat farm raised animals. I also raise my own fruits and vegatables at different times of the year.

Paz, free-ranging beef is far better for us than the corn-fed we Yanks eat. The early man hunters we talked about only got 20% of their calories from fat due to the lean game that they ate. We Americans get 35% of our calories from fat. That and all the empty calories that we get from sugar is why we are such a fat nation.( and too little exercise)
