Thank youNice bow. Do you also make your own bow strings?
Nice looking starts! Kinda seems like this could get addictive. Lets hope its not a gateway to anything besides a full freezer

Nice score with the mushroom find. I wouldn't pick any as I know there are similar mushrooms that can poison us. I just noticed these in my flower bed. They are a big as my hand and there are several of them.Craterellus fallax and Cantharellus cibarius
are just starting herewe'll get lateritius a week or so later.

If you pick and take pictures we might be able to identify them. You need clear pictures of the gills and stipe.Depending where in the world you are would help, just northern or southern hemisphere and continent. If you dont care though its coolNice score with the mushroom find. Thats so rad! Its beautiful woodThis is a cool thread. I cut the top of a large a Pacific Yew at my mothers property a year or so ago and have several pieces that are long enough to make a bow. These are straight pieces around 6 ft long and 6-8 in in diameter I think.
Looks like I have another project to get started with. I'll likely be asking questions in this thread as I've never mad a bow.

I'm interested to see and hear about your adventures.
I think it would work fine.Maybe one of these others knows more about itSo here's my first question. Would Peach wood be any good?
That looks nice!I just finished this simple bow rack. Black Walnut and poplar pins. I angled the pins to 85 degrees. View attachment 19009839
Rad man!I'm fletching arrow shafts for the first time, 6 of each color. I also made a shaft cutter using this cheap Harbor freight 2" cut-off saw. I'm waiting for the abrasive wheel for this saw. I won't chance cutting my shafts with the HSS blade. I'm also waiting for my inserts so I can measure my final arrow length before I cut anything. The shaft with fletchings goes into the hole on the left support and bumps up against the stop on the right. View attachment 19012413 View attachment 19012414
Nice buck. I may deer hunt this year. But, it will be with my .222. Not a bow. I'm not confident I could hit the kill zone consistently with a bow.
Thanks, yeah some nice ones come through for sure. Well, a deer with a bullet taste just as good as one with a arrowNice buck. I may deer hunt this year. But, it will be with my .222. Not a bow. I'm not confident I could hit the kill zone consistently with a bow.
