do not freeze trim

do not freeze trim

MANY PEOPLE FREEZE THERE TRIM BEFORE USING IT FOR WATER EXTRACTION. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS. FIRST YOUR TRIM NEEDS TO BE DRY BUT NOT BRITTLE DRY WHERE IT CRUMBLES AT THE TOUCH. ITS BEST AFTER 2 TO 3 WEEKS OF DRYING IN A NICE DARK, COOL, ENVIROMENT WITH PLENTY OF AIR FLOW. FREEZING IT AT THIS TIME INSTEAD OF JUST PUTTING IT DIRECTLY IN THE WATER CAUSES YOU TO LOSE A PERCENTAGE OF THE BEST TRICOMES DURING THE TRANSPORT PROCESS. IN HANDLING IT FROM FREEZER TO BUCKET YOU LOSE ALOT TO THE BAG. ANOTHER REASON IS IT WELL DRY YOUR LEAVES OUT SO THAT THEY CRUMBLE AND CAUSE CONTAMINATION.

Ive made alot of bubble hash and prefer FreshFrozen pot to make it with . If you let it dry you get much more contaminents in your hash. The freshfrozen method gives you the most pure trichs. Also I never use a mixer on first run ... wooden spoons only . You want fmcd this imho is the best way to get it :)

I have to agree, frozen trim always works better wether dry or wet. Fresh works best for frozen obviously. I do also tell people if you dont have a freezer or just got some dry trim and dont have a freezer to put it in, you can simply place the material into your work bag with the water and ice, and let it sit for twenty minutes or so> This will improve yeilds guaranteed. As it realy chills the trichome heads, making them extremly brittle to the touch.

Babbabud..I agree..fresh frozen for me too..for the same reasons..

bubbleman..what's up man..the roor A/V chat was fun..anyway yeah it seems logical to me that the trim be frozen..
I damn near freeze the water too..heat at any step seems counter-productive..if the trim is pre frozen..seems the trichs would be ready right off the bat to break away..
I use a big glass frozen bowl with a lid to store the trim in the freezer..
so I'm not too worried about any loss..

Shmike.. who knows...I've never done that controlled of a test before..
I mean you can do a trim weigh then a hash weigh and calculate percentage, but to really do an accurate controlled test would be a lot of work..
maybe trying a couple of leaves..examine them with microscope..run um then look at them again so see what's left

BLunTeD4LifE..Thanks man..don't mention the cheap bags with bubbleman lurking..hehe j/k..I think most spoon or mix for about 15 minutes..
That was my main problem..I was running the hand mixer on high speed..when I inspected the hash with a microscope..I found to much contam..
Spoons get you higher quality..but maybe not as good overall agitation..so it's all a matter of quality vs yield..

I have the AngelDust trim 2oz fresh frozen weight..so may not have enough to get much..I only kept the high quality trim..
might wait for three more plants worth of trim before I run..

Hey great looking bud packnpuff. Yeah that was a blast the other day doing the live roor bong rip chat room> We will have to get that going again some time soon.
As for the coldness, another great tip that i've heard a few people pass around is to leave your leaf material in the water and ice mixture for a good half hour before you mix. This will ensure your gland heads are as brittle as they could possibly be. You will find the mixing time can be less, and still get a wonderful quantity of EXCELLENT quality bubble.

yes i have absolutely tried it keefhead, in fact its kinda the way i like to roll these days. Especialy with the bubblenow, it seems that you can fill it up with the water and ice leaf mixture, let it sit an easy half hour and you lose barely any ice. I can't say the same for my five gallon bucket, but it also has something to do with water temp, and amount of ice used. so....
yeah i like doing it this way now.

Say, Bubbleman, while I got you on the line here (so to speak) :wave: ;

My 5-gallon set is all canvas, and I just got the new 90 bag, which is nylon. Are the new kits now coming with nylon bags, like the 1-gallon kits (which I also have)? If so, I want to upgrade to the nylon 7-bag kit (already got the 90). It's much easier for me to handle. Severe arthritis sure doesn't make the canvas easy to fold over a bowl. :cuss: LOL

Anyway, didn't mean to hog the thread, but I thought others might be interested in what the new bags are made of.

Thanks for a great product(s).

when you guys say freshly frozen trim... do you mean that when you kill your plants to let them dry, you trim all the buds before letting them dry? Doesnt this result in badly dried and cured buds?... I mean i am used to letting the whole plant dry for at least 2 weeks and then cutting off the trim... Is this trim too 'unfresh' to get hash results like you would with fresh trim? just curious and confused... peace

that's an interesting change bubbleman, with the accumulation of bubble runs, i was getting the impression that the shorter my hash was in the water, the more taste was left in the final product. in the beginning of bubble making i would sometimes leave it standing for an hour or even 1 and a half, this bubble always came out sandy looking and not melty, but with a short time in the water i'm finding i get a much oilier looking hash that's totally melty. so i'm surprised to hear you say this about leaving the stuff in the ice water for half an hour. it seemed to me that the washing machines were so good because they get rid of any settling time?

it's cool how the method is always getting developed and improved upon through trail and error.

Well damn..It's been awhile since I've updated this thread..In fact my freezer is getting stuffed with trim..just waiting for a run..
Keefhead, Bubbleman, GM..Nothing but good stuff and info from guys that do the bags proper..
there is no hoggin KH..if anyone has good tricks and other bubblebag info to share..please do..
GM..I started to get the same idea about time-of-settle..was thinking extra time probably wouldn't make much more glands settle,
but rather allow more contam flotsam & jetsam to settle

fari..Me myself..I remove almost every leaf that has an accessible stem before the dry..
some of these guys grow weed with hash making it's purpose from the get go..the trichs are ready to go from the harvest date..
I always look forward to the scissor hit..so if the bud is your primary concern..you may wanna go another way..
I lean more towards the bud concern myself..but have found using dry trim seems to really add to the contaminant ratio
(fresh keeps the leaf more intact during trich detachment methods)..
I do this to make a fine treat from my trim..BM KH & GM are keefbox hero connoisseurs..I think GM puts bubble logs in the fireplace..hehe..
Hang out with these guys for awhile and you'll be cutting up the buds too in no time..
I grew some plants that had horrible bud bud structure..they made good hash though..I think that was the second run featured on this thread..
Gotta go..ironically to trim some plants..

Gotta leave a BubbleDust bud shot or two..trim waiting for the bags in the freezer :nanana:
