Anonymous gives the cops an ultimatum

There are no nuances to understand, you're just making things up. No where in any part of that stop did the cop talk to her about running a stop sign. You've just decided, in your opinion that was what was on the cops mind based on the fact you felt she ran the stop sign. The cop was pulling out from his previous stop, perhaps his attention was more focused on his rearview mirror making sure nobody was coming up from behind?

Like I said before, even if it was running the stop sign that he stopped her for it doesn't make his behavior any more excusable. The way he behaved was way over the top for any sort of minor traffic violation.

And yes I do know what DUI is it means driving under the influence of anything not just alcohol. I just used smelling alcohol on her breath as one way of determining cause to do a field sobriety test. I never said that's the only thing a cop could charge a DUI for. Yes you can get a DUI for prescription drugs, marijuana or anything that impairs your ability to drive safely. That being said alcohol is still the leading cause of DUI's.

the cop would have....

asked her to put out her cig....

step out of the car.....

I get everything you're saying but there is still the same big issue, the cop himself told her he pulled her over for failure to signal, not running a stop sign. The video heard everything else he said and yet magically it somehow didn't record the conversation you claim he had with her about running a stop sign.

The only one going on and on about running stop signs and suspecting her of DUI is you. The cop never mentioned it on video nor did he mention it in his report. If the conversation was left out some how then why? To what end does it serve the police to make it look more like undeserved treatment? Had it been reported that she was stopped for DUI then people would be more inclined to see it as okay because it's well established that alcohol impairs judgment and therefore often causes people to act foolishly.

With me....its all about the science....

I'm fairly confident there is plenty we agree on. Just as there are things we don't agree on. That's what makes the world such a strange and wonderful place we are all unique individuals and we all see the world in our own unique ways. Even when it appears we are on the same page about something.

As for the air layering, I looked into it and tried it years ago and it's just not my cup of tea. Thanks for the invite though. If I don't actually stop by though it will have everything to do with my schedule and nothing to do with this thread.

I said the same thing to a hypothetical situation that you posed a question to. We have no way of knowing why this cop sped up to catch her. If he was doing it because he felt she ran a stop sign then he should have had his lights on rather then waiting for her to change lanes without signaling and then pull her over and tell her that's why he pulled her over. If he did in fact pursue her because of running the stop sign that should have been in his report.

There are several possibilities for why he pursued her:

1) He could have racially profiled her and pursued her because he felt she was suspicious just because she was black. (although I didn't get the impression he did it because he was racist)

2) Her car could have matched the description of a vehicle involved in a crime.

3) He could have thought something else was wrong like the windows were too tinted for example (which is something they do pull you over for and ticket you for in some states).

4) It might have been that where she failed to signal was that turn and that's what caught his attention rather then a feeling she ran a stop sign.

There is no rule that says the cop only needs one reason to pull someone over so if he felt she ran the stop sign he could have said he pulled her over for that and the failure to signal. The fact that he never mentions the running of the stop sign is a strong indicator that the stop sign and whether she ran it or not had absolutely nothing to do with pulling her over.
