Amsterdam Etiquette?

Yep.....expect to be carded wherever you go(if you're really unlucky). And yes, a simple drivers liscence is fine. As long as your ID has a pic and your birth date, you're good.

I forgot my ID at my hotel the first time I went to the dam...I couldn't buy a milligram of weed.....I was carded left right and center.

And be sure to visit one of the girls in the RLD at least once. Get yourself a pijpen. They are great every once in a while. lol...I'ma bad muddafugga. :sasmokin:

Actualy you should carry your passport at all times. If a coffeeshop gets audited while your there without a passport, plan on staying there a while till they clear your name. I have never had a problem but i have some friends that where detained at Barney's while the police audited the smoke stash. Just a basic ID is harder for them to clear so take your passport and keep it safe.

You are required by law to have your original passport on you at all times. There are now police checks that cannot be avoided in many party area's on weekends. Even Dutch citizens must have official ID or Passport. Just an FYI for those in doubt. Americans are usually given a pass if it is only an ID check and you do have good ID. If there is any trouble involved you will be glad you had your passport.

There is no liberty, no equality, no fraternity when you enter a coffeshop in Holland; you always have
the feeling that the only thing they want is your money; and after you have paid them you are expected to leave.
But where should one go??? To an hotel room? Sure, and pay money of course!!!

It is legal in Holland, sure, but is it nice, do you have a good time while smoking, can one relax there? Hardly, if you don´t
pay of course. I am against legalization; at least these monarchies should not be allowed to sell stuff to foreigners...
now that would put an and to it, wouldn´t it?

Now make an comparison in your minds inner eye. Imagine you sit in a civilized country, that is without a king,
where everyone is considered equal, like for instance germany, finland, poland, or even french...it is illegal,
sure, but I can assure you that you can go and sit in a pub an whole evening drink some beer and talk with people
in a relaxed way, and sometimes - not always but most of the time - you can lit up a joint...this is a fact!
And one thing is for sure, they will not call the cops...like in Sweden ( a monarchy ). Neither will they bust you when you
are on your way to an after party like they did with Snoopy dog...he was first in Finland, and I guess he had a smoke there alright, then in Sweden; he got busted...

dude if you hate holland so much don't go there. there are plenty of other tourist destinations where the people will be happy to overcharge you for everything and steal your money outright if you don't spend it first.

monarchies are great.. i would much rather have a proper king to keep things stable.. a vote every 4 years only insures stupid fighting and cock blocking when the matter of taking care of the citizens should take priority. plenty of despots have been a product of democracy, saddam hussein and george bush for example.

like anywhere you dont live .. hotel rooms are for people who dont know anyone to stay with.. are you inviting all of us to your house to stay kind sir?

and if you are a pleasant person who dosnt make trouble for the owners you will not be forced out! if you behave in the coffeshops the way you behave here in this chat i'm not suprised they ask you to leave

uh, definately not! would you like to be directed to the number of people every year who are arrested for smoking cannabis in public? german and french and fin bar owners will loose their licences if they allow joint smoking

In order to open an coffee shop in Amsterdam you have to have a licens, no? Now it would surprise very much - almost as much as a finn getting a fair trial in Sweden -if a foreigner would get hold of such a thing.

"That is not possible" they would say with an grin on their face, which should be interpreted as "you are not an subject of the king". "You are the customer, the one that should bow your head and give us, who represent King Ludvig all your money, this is proper and according to etiquett in our country; now please leave as soon as you have payed."

Now everyone with the slightes sense of decency understands that it totally unetical and against all universal priciples of mankind to give in to this kind of blackmail.

There is and has always been only one remedy to such a state of matter; stealing!!!

The best thing to do would be to try to locate their farms and make a hit, you might learn something and instead of being their slave you take what you want...sounds better, no???? lol

I doubt that they in the long run have the guts to make a big fuzz about it......

This is my suggestion. Instead of paying for the hotel in Amsterdam you buy a sheep car in Germany, cross the border with a few tools; a gun if needed, an old lueger is great, then you go for it....take a few kilos, cross the border again, let it dry up...offer your friends in germany some weed for free and have a real good time.....

Mad 123 ?

Mad 123 ?

Dude , You mad at your supplier?
I couldnt go to my own damn families house and stay for more than a week or so and not be expected to pay my way? WTF Never been to Jail? They even expect one to pay there own way on short visits. I dont see where anyone would have the ideas to belittle another nationality in an International forum. One is entitled to there opinion but to act as you do here is just wrong ! You are in the wrong community to be that rude !imo

Hehe, the things one reads in these forums...

FYI 123 Spain is one of the most relaxed, friendly and smoker-friendly places around and .....(drumroll)..... it's a MONARCHY!!!

Anyway, to keep on track with the thread, I've found Amsterdam to be a nice, friendly place. I've been to many coffeeshops with my friends and have never been treated unkindly. Some are more relaxed than others but in general you can just chill, have a drink and smoke a joint.

I think if you're polite and don't get stressed out you will not have any problems.

And if you do get annoyed by the service just take a deep breath and remember that you're there to enjoy the time. Getting angry or impertinent won't help. Look around, maybe roll a joint and enjoy the view, the details in the coffeeshop, etc. This always helps me to pass the time while I wait for my order

biggest tip, when someone whispers in your ear, speed, hash, coke, acid, just say no thanks and keep walking.

actually, say nee (pronounced nay) and keep walking. if they persist a strong rot op will also help.

just got back a few days ago-and got to say that it is still one of the safest cities that i have been to-before you slag the Dam off for being dodgy try walking down the frontline or red light areas in other major European cities -i have, and it can be fuckin scary. Amsterdam-in contrast is like a kiddies tea party-even the crackheads are more laid back-the only incident that i have been involved in recently was when a guy asked to borrow my friends lighter down an alley off Dam square-he showed us a handfull of rocks and said he really needed the lighter to smoke them, when told to go away he grabbed the lighter and they started struggling over it-then it broke in half-lol. One of the funniest things i've seen for a long time. I'm sure people get robbed-but they also get robbed in Chipping Sodbury.

got to respect the Dutch for their dry humour-they've taken sarcasm to another level

it varies across Europe, doesn't it?

in the UK it is 16 for heterosexual sex, 18 for homosexual

Hey tool, you can sit in our coffeeshop's and many others as long as you like. We do appreciate you buying a drink, but it is not mandatory. France, ha-ha-ha... Get a clue.
