Besides not taking pictures of the girls in the Red Light district, what are other things i should look out for? Is it ok to take pictures inside a coffee shop?(should i ask first)? Any info that might make my trip to amsterdam more enjoyable would help

take your time and don't be in a rush. americans have a tendency to rush and are rude. you will absolutely enjoy yourself.

be aware that service in Amsterdam is at a differrent pace than america.
expecting fast service will only get you frustrated.
Also be aware of the volume of your voice, coffeeshops arent that big, and not everyone enjoying a joint want to hear your latest adventure.
as for photos in coffeeshops, defineatly ask the shop 1st and any one who may be in your picture. if the coffeeshop is really busy dont bother. come back at a quieter time.

common sense should be your guide. pics in coffee shops need to be taken with permission of every person that will be visible. the dealer might not mind posing in front of the stash shelves, but you need to ask, some of them will step aside to let you take a pic of the jars or rows of tupper-ware.

if you look young, don't be offended if 3 different people come and ask to see your id, to check you age. last cup, standing in line at barneys these young guys behind me got asked by 3 different waiters inside of about 5 minutes, for their id, lol. they have to be very careful to keep their license.

I was only stating what 99%of europeans ASSUME sometimes not wrongly about americans. I was impling to him to be patient which is very good advice for europe in general. sorry if I offended you .

re: being rude

tourists in general are rude.. its a state of excitement caused in part by the novelty of the situation. amerikans ARE quite obvious but french, italians and slavic people get pretty loud too

i think he was overstating a tendancy which IS noticable.. oh yeah, britons get loud too after some pints.. perhaps this is part of the reason why theyr not allowing both alch and grass in the same place

politenes tends to go out the window when travelling, its the same everywhere. the dutch are a bit more sensitive about it [being a polite nation]

all that said... at the 'old quarter' shops like on warmoerstraat.. EVERYONE tends to be rather loud and boisterous.. so if thats what you like hit them up.. the weeds not as good but its more like a friday night bar scene

one thing i really like about the damn.. is theres something for everyone

let's not forget the Dutch are pretty cheeky themselves, even more ironic / sarcastic than Brits often are

and I never noticed that the Dutch are quick to take offence, to me they seem like some of the most genuinely relaxed people in Europe

as someone who has done a fair bit of travelling over the years, I think the best approach to any situation is simply to show consideration and be thoughtful

at the end of the day, it is good intention that matters - as a visitor you can't be expected to know exactly where your hosts are at, so "it's the thought that counts"

as long as you approach every situation like that, I think you have nothing to worry about

Have fun :)

Etiquette ahh, makes me wanna puke, f**** monarchies; should I treat these mother**** as kings? God damn it! F*** em!

Amsterdam is my total anti-thesis, it represents everything I despise; these pretenders only wants one thing: money!!! Holland is a state hussler and should be banned from the international community; that goes for Sweden too, but for different reasons; by the way, England is not much better off, if you ask me.

I really dig this plant, but it´s just a plant....I mean common, people are paying 100 dollar or even more for 10 seeds...it´s incredible...and look at them, all that bullshit about "potency" and different strains and stuff...I mean there is so much more to it...I would never set my foot in those dirty "coffee shops"...especially when I know that some f**** pretender king is closing his eyes to the "vice" of smoking just to make money....

And that guy Wille Vallle or whatever his name is, what a clown....what in earth does cannabis has to do with Holland?????

who let the trolls in?

take your complaints about price etc, to the US government and their hypocritical war on drugs. once that problem is out of the equation, you'll find all the other complaints you listed will disappear. not the monarchs though, they are not influenced by the war on drugs :D

biggest tip, when someone whispers in your ear, speed, hash, coke, acid, just say no thanks and keep walking.
