Fabian Society....

Fabian Society, socialist society founded in 1884 in London, having as its goal the establishment of a democratic socialist state in Great Britain. The Fabians put their faith in evolutionary socialism rather than in revolution.

Fabian Socialism

As the anarcho-communists argued for a form of socialism so decentralized that it required the abolition of the state, a milder and markedly centralist version of socialism, Fabianism, emerged in Britain. Fabian Socialism was so called because the members of the Fabian Society…

The name of the society is derived from the Roman general Fabius Cunctator, whose patient and elusive tactics in avoiding pitched battles secured his ultimate victory over stronger forces. Its founding is attributed to Thomas Davidson, a Scottish philosopher, and its early members included George Bernard Shaw, Sidney Webb, Annie Besant, Edward Pease, and Graham Wallas. Shaw and Webb, later joined by Webb’s wife, Beatrice, were the outstanding leaders of the society for many years.

In 1889 the society published its best-known tract, Fabian Essays in Socialism, edited by Shaw. It was followed in 1952 by New Fabian Essays, edited by Richard H.S. Crossman.

The Fabians at first attempted to permeate the Liberal and Conservative parties with socialist ideas, but later they helped to organize the separate Labour Representation Committee, which became the Labour Party in 1906. The Fabian Society has since been affiliated with the Labour Party.

The national membership of the Fabian Society has never been very great (at its peak in 1946 it had only about 8,400 members), but the importance of the society has always been much greater than its size might suggest. Generally, a large number of Labour members of Parliament in the House of Commons, as well as many of the party leaders, are Fabians, and, in addition to the national society, there are scores of local Fabian societies.

The principal activities of the society consist in the furtherance of its goal of socialism through the education of the public along socialist lines by means of meetings, lectures, discussion groups, conferences, and summer schools; carrying out research into political, economic, and social problems; and publishing books, pamphlets, and periodicals.

In 1931 the New Fabian Research Bureau was established as an independent body. The bureau and the society amalgamated in 1938 to form a new and revitalized Fabian Society. In 1940 the Colonial Bureau of the Fabian Society was established, and it produced a continuous stream of discussion and writing on colonial questions.

The Fabian International Bureau was started in 1941 to cater to the growing concern of Fabians with foreign policy and the great issues of war and peace.

2. The bomb saved half a million American lives

In his postwar memoirs, former president Harry Truman recalled how military leaders had told him that a half-million Americans might be killed in an invasion of Japan. This figure has become canonical among those seeking to justify the bombing. But it is not supported by military estimates of the time. As Stanford historian Barton Bernstein has noted, the U.S. Joint War Plans Committee predicted in mid-June 1945 that the invasion of Japan, set to begin Nov. 1, would result in 193,000 U.S. casualties, including 40,000 deaths.

But, as Truman also observed after the war, if he had not used the atomic bomb when it was ready and GIs had died on the invasion beaches, he would have faced the righteous wrath of the American people.

I think most of what you are saying is credible. But the people fighting the wars are pawns. So even with all the ulterior motives you mentioned, if the bomb even saved 40,000 lives of my countrymen from a war we didn't begin, well that's ok in my book.

Yeah, but what about the hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese civilians who were vaporized/killed and injured by these atom bombs?

Are we as civilians just pawns of our own governments, and should suffer because of the wars they choose to get involved in?

It was the last chance to test a nuclear weapon during war-time.

The US didn't need Hiroshima & Nagasaki to win the war. But they definitely needed to drop the bombs to see how their new war-toys performed.

It must be unfathomable to know what it feels like to be directly responsible for incinerating a city full of people.

I heard Neil DeGrasse Tyson say that they wouldn't have even seen anything, just vaporized without any warning at all.

Life was cheap by the end of 1945. Fighting on the Pacific islands was ferocious. The Japanese soldiers would not surrender, fighting to the death. It was an indication of what invading allied troops would face in a home island invasion.
One has to remember that to the Japanese, surrender wasnt a matter of men and supplies but one of saving face and honor. As long as they could fight, they would.
Japan also held one of the largest empires on earth that stretched 3/4 the way around the earth. It wasnt just a matter of defeating the home islands but making sure the Japanese military was defeated in spirit everywhere it existed. The bombs achieved the disgracing of the Japanese generals and military infrastructure. . That is what was needed to end the war.
Oh...Another reason we used the bomb was to prevent Soviet occupation of Japan.

I think when a country invades you nothing is off the table. Their intention is to destroy your homeland, rape your women and kill you. Rules of engagement do not exist when you're surviving. Look what they did to the Chinese citizens.

You have a family, as do I. If some group of people threatened mine I would scorch heaven and earth until that threat was a charred remain of carbon matter on the ground.

That was "total war" in those days when countries existence was on the line. The fact is Japan had not surrendered yet. Whether they intended to or not we can debate all day, but if an enemy has not yet quit I would use everything I had. Quite frankly, there would have been justification to vaporize the entire island until they quit.

I was not born before then so I cannot speak from a pre nuke standpoint. But I would think after witnessing what one can do that no sane human could ever consider using one a second time. By sane I mean good.

I understand well the reasons why those atom bombs were dropped, the Japanese would have dug in, as they did on Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Tarawa and many other locations throughout the Pacific theatre of war at that time....The USA had the biggest stick, and they used it to cataclysmic affect, but the sadness does not leave me thinking of all of those relatively innocent people that went up in smoke because of it..

The sheer inhumanity of mankind against our own race, the human race.... has no bounds, and behind the scenes the deep state pulls the strings to bring these sort of events about for profit, for gains, out of hubris and the willful destruction of all we might hold dear....

If Hitler had not been bankrolled by American interests in the first place, would that nuclear nightmare still have happened?

War is an ugly truth of mankind, I hope to never see it again in my lifetime...and hope a harmonious culture can thrive in our children's future. No need for bombs, nor who has more, nor the threat of launching said horror.

Peace man, fucking peace...it's not that tough of a concept.

LOL. Why should Putin give a shit? He knows that a voting population that may allow itself to be swayed by a few half baked memes is doomed anyhow.
Im sure he also has a laugh when he sees pictures of beta soyboys wearing romphims.

So if Russia posting things on wikileaks or facebook for 2 years is collusion and treason, what should we call the entire media/entertainment apparatus working with the DNC for decades to present news with a liberal bias?

When i'm high i feel like i can talk to my dogs.....

One of them has been constantly sitting at the back door for 3 days with anxiety, half growling.
I think he hears a firecracker sound from somewhere.
He knows he's not supposed to bark and he tries to hold it in but he just can't seem to help himself... it has been driving me crazy because i get bad anxiety because he's anxious and vice versa i guess.
I had tried the being nice method and the spraying water method and i even slapped his muzzle (i know it's not right, but it's not hard) and nothing worked until i tried clapping loudly and it seemed to snap him out of his weird state and he sat on hi couch and looked relaxed.
Anyway  It felt like i just couldn't get into his mind to understand it was nothing to worry about.
Until i got high, and then i felt like i could communicate :)

Nothing to do with America, but whatever...... maybe someone likes my story.

Checkout Caesar the Dog Whisperer on Youtube. The guys a genius with dogs, although this Labrador looks like he needs a bit more work.

Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika,
Amerika, Amerika
Wenn getanzt wird, will ich führen,
Auch wenn ihr euch alleine dreht,
Lasst euch ein wenig kontrollieren,
Ich zeige euch wie's richtig geht
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen,
Die Freiheit spielt auf allen Geigen,
Musik kommt aus dem Weißen Haus,
Und vor Paris steht Mickey Maus
We're all living in Amerika,
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika,
Amerika, Amerika
Ich kenne Schritte, die sehr nützen,
Und werde euch vor Fehltritt schützen,
Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss,
Weiß noch nicht das er Tanzen muss
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen,
Ich werde Euch die Richtung zeigen,
Nach Afrika kommt Santa Claus,
Und vor Paris steht Mickey Maus
