We have had youtube tv for a while. Saved $700 in a year and way better than cable.

What did you need to get in order to make it work? My tv is over 10 years old......

A relative of mine uses a Kodi box connected to the internet, it's an Android based download box with over 100 channels showing movies, music, TV shows, sports, cartoons and lots of other stuff, it only cost about AU$90 on eBay.

Kodi is free if you install it yaself. Buy amazon firestick, download apps2fire and kodi on a android phone tablet. Watch YouTube video for ten minutes and learn how to do it. Takes 5 minutes. Easy.
Or there's another app called unlock my TV you can download online. Better than kodi as its already set up once installed. It's also quicker and easier to use than kodi.
All boxsets and movies.

We started off using a Chromecast streaming adapter controlled from smart phone. It's cheep, and works but it's not so great. Moving on to an appletv box we found the best setup out there. One mod, there's a gizmo called side click that combines a small learning remote with the apple remote making one remote.

Both plug into an HDMI jack on the tv.

i gave up tv so long ago. i watch utube if i need
to fix something. i watch 2-3 movies a year. i read a lot.
i have been trying to watch more. i am working on a
benny hill box set. 6 more disc's to go lol. i have a tote
filled with dvds. not watched 1/4 of them yet. a friend
sent me like 20 movies because he is upgrading to bluray.
.
but thinking on your monthly bill. maybe buy some
box sets of things you like. then movies you like.
hit up pawn shops and thrift stores for cheap filler movies.
then ask friends and trade movies with them to watch.

I cut the cord and not looking back, as over ten years of
cable the cost was illuminating and staggering at the same time.

Easily ten grand, lol.

we've been paying over $200/month of which the high speed internet represents 50 bucks worth, the rest tv and fees/taxes for 15 years in the same place. That's $36,000.00 ( and change ) to these bloodsuckers.

No more. Going with the roku ultra and found some things they say to download ( ? ) such as youtube tv etc.

Will place the call to Comcast as soon as the thing is hooked up then bye bye..divorce....liberation :)

Good chance they will jack up your internet cost but it will still be a huge win for better service. Unlimited DVR is great. Watch what you want when you want.

The Roku Express+ (Note: NOT the Roku Express, that's a different model) has a composite cable (RCA connectors) for older TVs. Best of all, it's only thirty dollars.

I found WeTV, but the WGN channel appears to be a news channel. You might have to add SlingTV in order to get WGN.
But - if it's just for old TV shows and movies, I wouldn't bother. There are TONS of Roku channels that show nothing but old TV shows and movies.

Sorry, I just noticed this. By older TV I meant one that wouldn't have HDMI and would only have RCA inputs.
