Alpine Shangri-La: Vol 3.

"I was visiting my folks and read about several busts made because the cops had planted camera's in tree's to catch people in the act of watering at the patch. I had no idea they went to that kind of lengths, and I don't think it happens often but something to think about."

Could you do the same? If you know how they went in would it be possible to set up a wildlife camera to see if anyone was coming or going? I would be more inclined to abandon that spot but it may be something to consider. Best of luck.

Oh man FP sorry to hear that, i know that kick in the stomach feeling all too well. Up here in eastern Canada cops just pull your plants and rarely ever stake out spots, if its not on your land you're generally good for the straight loss and thats it. I don't know how law or the citizenry would act in your neck of the woods. But having had to deal with these kinds of situations almost every year over the past 25 or so, i may be able to provide some useful advice:

- My best spot (9 or 10 years running, urban guerilla, 12 to 35 plants) was compromised on three and a half occasions with no loss of crops !

The first time it was an elderly Pakistani man who managed to climb a cliff and work his way through a tangle of nettles and vines looking for his grandsons lost kite ( i had seen it float by and land in a tree, wondering if someone would come after it !). I scrambled into my "hiding bush" and observed as he walked right to the middle of my patch, realized he was surrounded by ganja, and went to fetch his kite only to calmly walk right back through my patch without any sign of concern. I thought i was screwed anyway but managed to harvest just fine in october.

(Lesson I learned here: you may never know how many people actually find your plants because a lot of people are not thieves and snitches.)

The second time i found an early planting had completely disappeared and the huge bootprints all over the place suggested something more maliciously human than my pals from the Dead Elm Raccoon Possee had been at work. I laid off for a month and re-planted a run of late season minis which i got to harvest.

The third breach happened when a work crew came upon my freshly tilled patch before i had planted anything. They grabbed all my tools. I came back and cleared everything out as if i was moving my ops somewhere else. Waited three weeks and replanted, again with a successful harvest.

Since then i have stuck to the following procedure in case of discovery: wether or not i plan on continuing with a discovered patch, i move any growstuff out and i stay away for awhile or forever.

Because of the less repressive atmosphere up here i can afford to go back to discovered or ripped-off spots and give em another shot. The only real enemy here is the ripper and replanting is my big fuck you to those lazy shits: they won't get me down.

But any discovered spot is also dead to me, i don't expect a damn thing from them anymore. I plant for the glory because the risks to my freedom are low enough to make it worth it.

If i was just about anywhere in the US i would get the hell out and never go back. You don't have three hundred pounds that you might lose out there right now, you had a patch that had the potential to pay off big if everything had gone well. But things have not gone well and it looks like what you now have is a huge potential liability and 20 pounds of leaf...

However many giant beauties we may have out in July theres nothing real until they're bagged and dried and put away in a safe place.

If you didn't have to water regularly i would say just go back around harvest time and cut the untended herb. If you have enough seedlings or clones for another round, i'd suggest many smaller patches of later plantings to make up for the loss.

My two cent conclusion: if your life doesn't literally depend on you harvesting everything you've planted and if there are serious legal repercussions for case such as yours in your area then i would just walk away.

Hang in there man, really appreciate the beautiful stuff you do up there in your mountains.

Get yourself a few digital Trail-cams,set them up along likely routes, check them every few nights,if you see no images within two weeks the games still on right?I live in the UK and got my trail-cam from the states for a few hundred dollars, worth it for peace of mind mate.

wow, I was excited to just find this thread...
and my heart sank when I got to page three.
Damn sad to hear your spot has been found, and such a good one too. I think staying away for at least a couple weeks is a good idea, but weigh out the risks vs. the benefits. Right now you're still free and with another patch growin that will produce for you given your skills. So not all is lost.

fly low and stay safe FP,
Peace.

Fuuuuck. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I was really enjoying the thread and now I just feel terrible for you. The camera thing sounds like the best idea.

Good luck with this. Play it slow. Stay safe.

I wouldnt bother taking any baggage, if you are found near the spot you will be questioned. You only need a mobile phone with a new sim, & a good pair of binoculars. Get someone to drop you off, ring him when your ready to be picked up. Get cammoed up & take a long time to get anywhere near your patch. There is an oldsaying here, "Study to be quiet" You can learn alot by just sitting still. Watch the flight of birds, do they have a set flightline? do they jink away from an area suddenly? pigeons are good for this. Crows wont perch in a wood if there is anyone in it. Birds move around alot more in the early mornings, & sit up in the heat of the day. Pigeons suddenly breaking from a tree is a people alert. It always amazes me how much noise people make in the country.
Is there an overlying ridge a belt of trees that would make a good observation area? that is where the copper will be. I would be looking to find them more than my plants. Personally I think if they knew of your grow, they would have pulled it up by now. They find it easier to monitor cars than people. Same goes for you, you would know if they had pulled up to destroy your crop, tyre marks footprints, they would park as near as poss to the scene, pigs are lazy. Oh & dont make any phone calls near the place with a registered sim.
Good luck, take care & stay safe.

Thanks for all the good vibes fellas..Greatly apprecaited.

I did it.

I took the plunge, and went in. They were deffinantly gonna die if I didnt, as its been a steady ~95degrees with little rain....
I borrowed a car, callit a "safe car".... packed it up with caping gear...Even iced up a cooler and threw in some groceries from the frige..Made it look like i was all ready for a coupple days in the Mtns..

I stashed my pump and batteries down the road..an drove on..

I parked, left the car running. Jumped out witha wood saw an started cutting some branches.....Bundled em up and threw em in the trunk, and acted as I was goin back for another load....I "stumbled" into the patch with a bundle of wood in one arm and the saw in the other...Gathered up a little more wood, at that time it was apparent that no one was there... I dropped the wood. and pulled out my headlamp..Started scouring the ground for any kind of prints. I saw none. Took a quick glimpse to see if any thing was out of place..Everything seemed legit..

I went back and got my pump, set up, and got to work. Started at ~11:30pm..Watered em HEAVY all the way till dawn..Was actually gettin worried about how quickly the sun came up, had to cut the end short...All 300 got a solid feeding and 2-3Gal a piece into some very dry planting holes. They loved me for it. I could feel them staring up at me, as if they were silently asking me to protect them from their looming destruction..
It was very hard to immagine the possibility of working this plot to completion, only to have someone come snatch it out from under me...Even worse, having the cops come snatch me out from under the forrest.

Problem with the game cameras is they put me too far into the danger zone to be effective....i.e. If the cops are waiting for me, they will catch me in the act of checking thecameras, ya know..And if they eradicate, all they will do is give me afront row seat to my plants getting cut,,,,IF they dont get discovered and become part of evidence...If I was a little younger, and lived alone, I would just camp all stealth across the valley with binocs....But as hamstring said,,,they might play it slow on me. and pop out of the fuckin bushes Sept 23 at 5:45am......

<deep sigh>

Just glad I made it through the last trip.

I belive noone is waiting for 23 September...
Keep your fantastic work like that... No rush... thoughtful, discreet... Will be good I feel it!
Stay safe bro!

i feel for you man. i really do. i found a footprint relatively close to my patch and its obvious that the person knows whats going on. the combination of the bears, choppers, and now this, really has me messed up. i don't even know how i can go back... full disguise is in order. haven't seen anything on the trail cam yet, but that doesn't mean much cause its coverage isn't 100%.

im probably going to have to camp out there in September... but i thought about it... what good is that going to do? if they come for them, they come for them, same with the rippers. its not like i can confront a bunch of rednecks on my own, and even if i did, what would i do? tie them to a tree for another 3 weeks until harvest??? it sucks. im going really deep next year. really really really deep.

Yo FP I'm glad you didn't just give up on em bro. Play it safe but play it cool and you might just still end up with that crop you've been dreaming of.

Stay positive, stay smart, stay free
