I would use a Can Max 12" fan w/ a 12" x 8" x 8" fitting. If it is over kill you can get a speed control and tone the fan down. I would rather have the cfm's and not need them, than not have them and need them.

You would just use 1 12" fan for the 4-1k's? I'd be down for that if it is effective.

Read up on page 4 in this thread http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=81273&highlight=ty-stik&page=4 guys name was ty-stik he was an HVAC guru. The real proper way to set up air cooled hoods is using plenums. Good Luck....

I use a 6" Vortex fan to cool 3 inline 1k's. 6" Passive intake-1k-1k-1k-6" Vortex (pulling), it has worked great for over a year.
8" Passive intake-1k-1k-1k-1k-8" Vortex (pulling) would work fine as long as 8" reflectors are used. Blazeoneup had the same setup in one of his threads.

Just looked over the thread, NICE!!! That guy knows his shit and how to set up a grow all professional. I subscribed, and will be taking notes. Best to do it right the first time, and not have to worry about it later on.
