ACE Haze X grow

I figured I’d do a thread to compare my experience so far with a few of the ACE Haze X plants. I’m not really going to update super frequently until near the end unless there’s a reason too.

This will cover Killer A5 Haze (my 3rd seed of this strain and a totally new pheno), C5 Haze x Kali China, Super Malawi Haze, and Tikal.

4x4 grow tent

630watt CMH Lighting

Plants currently at 6.5ish weeks in from flip to 12/12 and then to 11/13.

10 Gallon Grow bags filled with reused happy frog soil that has been amended heavily with compost, EWC, rock dusts and a good handful of worms and allowed to sit for 8 months with occasional feeding of the worms with a fruit, watermelon or pumpkin purée. When the plants went into it it had an amazing consistency and smelled insane like mushrooms.

They have been given water only other than 1 shot of Fruit bat Bat Guano tea last week. They also get Sea 90 once a week at 2tsp per 5 gallons (thanks Farmerlion). So far everything has been super happy in the mix and very easy to deal with. I always have white flies in my grow no matter how hard I try, but this time around they seem to staying away for the most part. Just the occasional one is spotted and they’re always on the SMH. They don’t touch the others except when hiding from my squishing fingers.

I need to get in and do some thinning still, things are a little thick in spots.

I’ll give a description of the plants currently and we’ll see how they change/evolve over the grow. I’ll describe smells as best as I can. I’ve been having some sensitivity issues with my nose since my last round of Rona last august. Smells are more fleeting than I’d like.

KA5H3 - Smells very strongly of sharp fresh cracked black pepper. Other phenos of KA5H I grew did not have this strong pepper smell. Responds extremely well to LST and got extremely branchy quickly. Clones super easy.

C5KC - Smells lean to the floral/“dark fruit I guess” smells of KC, but with a hint of sweet citrus. Much stiffer stemmed and originally was very Kali China in structure during veg. About 2 weeks into 12/12 she just exploded in size. Branches are much stiffer than all the others. Clones super easy.

Super Malawi Haze - slightly sweet incense smell but it’s super feint and hard to pickup. Responded well to LST but doesn’t have as many nodes as all the others/less branches. Slightly sensitive to the soil mix and curled an occasional leaf. Being a prissy little “I don’t want to clone unless things are 100% flawless and you talk real sweet to me” kind of plant. 1 out of 10 set roots in 3 week and just barely.

Tikal - Slight incense smell but different from the SMH. Exploded under LST, branches freaking everywhere and even under 11/13 she just keeps growing. She is the slowest to get into flower. Clones easily.

I’ll post any updates when they start to plump up and show me what’s what. So far I can say I am extremely excited about both the KA5H and the C5KC.

Beauuuuuutiful tent!! Just wow! Looking fantastic. 10/10

I just kicked a bunch of ace gear myself. I've got Bangi Haze, Malawi, Malawi x PCK, Killer A5, Super Malawi Haze, and PCK x Kali China growing ATM.

50 plants total, mostly regular except a few fems. Hoping for 30-35 females out of the lot. Well see I suppose!

Out of everything the Super Malawi Haze definitely seems the most finicky/sensitive.

At what size did you flip em? Again, your plants are looking fantastic! Looking forward to updates 😁

Thanks! I had right around 4-5 weeks of veg on them before flip. I only intended to veg 3 weeks but the prior run needed a little more time. I then ran them at 12/12 for 3 weeks and then switched to 11/13 to try and slow down the stretch on the Tikal. Much like the Honduras, she doesn’t seem to want to slow down. 😂

sounds like you’re going to have one hell of a run yourself! Good luck with everything!

Ahh very nice. I did about 4 weeks of veg from seed also. How long you plan on flowering?

Tikal sounds very cool! I just checked it out on the Ace website. Gonna have to put it on my wish list i think!😁

They’ll go as long as they need to. I try not to rush things unless I’m fighting a losing battle with pests or nanners, but I don’t think I’ll have either issue with this run.

Ahh, well played sir. As long as it takes. That really is the only correct answer. 😁

I'm in the same boat. I'm hoping to be done around 14 wk's but I'll take em as long as they need! Man the leaves on your KA5H and Super Malawi look exactly mine. Super cool! 😀

Looking forward to seeing updates.

PS how big were they when you kicked them? Height wise.

this was the same week as flip. Maybe 2-3 days after at most.

I’m hoping I don’t screw them up somehow around week 9 😂
I felt so bad I was out of town repeatedly during a HonPan grow and the poor thing was the ugliest plant I’ve grown in a long time. Still yielded just shy of a pound, but man she was not a looker. 😂

You’ll love the KA5H. So far I’ve had 3 very different phenos. The first 2 were very good and with how this current one smells I’ve got some high hopes for it.

You got this!! Definitely interested in hearing about your soil. Ive read ka5h likes lots of nutes. You agree? I’m purchasing my base soils (coast of Maine) in the next few days and am planning to let it cook until fall. What to add is up for debate.

Your soil oil is organic correct? Are you checking ph and Ec? You didn’t add nutes?

Soil is all organic, no weekly nute feed schedule, no ph checking. I water with RO water with added Calmag and every Wednesday I water with RO water with Sea90. Only fertilizers I added was a shot of bat guano tea to boost PK a little for flowering, but I honestly probably didn’t need to. The tea also slightly clawed the SMH leaves just slightly.
They will probably get a shot of compost tea or something again in a few weeks if they show me they need it but so far they’re enjoying the mix.

Farmerlion is going to be writing a post detailing what he does with his soil, which is extremely similar to what I did with this round and is how I plan on doing my soil moving forward. It should be a huge help to anyone jumping into Organic Living Soil. It’s all about the microbes. I got an amazing little army working for me. I even give them worms to ride around on. 😂

KA5H is definitely an eater. She’ll show deficiencies really quickly if there are any.

New or used Happy Frog brown bag Soil (it’s super mild), Worm Castings, Good finished and screened Compost, Basalt rock dust/glacial rock dust, some gypsum, earth worms and time. Mixed in with that time I fed the worms a little fruit/veg purée here and there then let it sit.
I have another tub of soil being recycled by my worms now and the only difference is I added a layer of leaf mulch to the surface for the worms to work out in. They will also get random slurry feeds to help boost worm numbers as well as for fungal culturing.

So this KA5H3… So Much Pepper!!! And this week a little bit of a flower petal smell has started on her. Such an interesting plant.

All of them are doing great at 7 weeks as of yesterday.
I can definitely see a Kali China influence to the C5KC bud/leaf structure, but also so much influence from the C5 in overall plant structure and fan leaf shape.
the Tikal and SMH are starting to maybe think about catching up. They’re definitely going to run longer, glad I guessed right on tent position.

Well see! Super busy at the moment but trying my best to document things! Only a week into 11/13 but I've culled a few males already! I'm going to save a couple to make some seeds however 😁

@ Cactus Squatter: Hit us up some some more pics!😁😀😁

P.S. your plants look to be about the same height as mine when flipped. I flipped em around 12-16 inches.

Alright, we’re now at 60 days/8weeks 4 days since flip and starting to fill out. The C5KC and the KA5H are definitely hungrier than the SMH and the Tikal.

The KA5H3 is so awesome smelling. Strong Black Pepper smells with a slightly floral and livery back end. Going to be heavy with dense flowers if it continues its current path.

The C5 x Kali China… super complex smells. Leans heavily to the aromas of Kali China. Perfume, floral, occasionally a citrus note as well as a random cat piss smell. So many more smells I can’t describe, but that’s the joy of Kali China and her crosses. Pure Deliciousness.

The Super Malawi Haze is starting to put on the bulk. She’s slightly behind but this last week is really starting to catch up. Smells are very minimal. Occasionally an incense smell but mostly a light wood smell.

The Tikal. The beastly, ever growing, never stopping, gigantic attention whore in the corner. Wowza. 😂
She‘s the slowest to flower but is going to be incredible when she fills in all the way. She’s been just an incense smell until this week, but around Tuesday the sweet peach smell started coming in. It’s subtle but unmistakeable. One of her tops got a little close to the light while I was out of town a few days and curled some leaves but the damage was minimal
And quickly corrected.

So far they’ve been really happy in this soil mix. The C5KC and KA5H started to show a phosphorus deficiency but I think I got back ahead of it. The worms are reproducing like mad in all of the pots to the point I can occasionally relocate some to other pots as well as my wife’s houseplants.

Somewhere a Bruce is hiding in my tent…that or a neighbor is being reckless and I some how got wayward pollen on me. Either way I found a couple tiny little starts to seeds today on the C5KC. It’s only showing on the C5KC, and only on one bud, which leads me to believe she’s the one hiding a sack somewhere on that branch but I’ll look closer at the others around her to make sure. I don’t see nanners, balls or sacks anywhere though on any of the plants so I’m not sure who it is yet. I’ll look harder when I adjust my supports tomorrow.

What’s weird is most of them, like I have seen once before on KA5H2, have seeds forming with two perfectly white unpollinated pistils sticking out of the top of the seed. I tried getting photos of it but couldn’t get a clear shot but couldn’t get a decent shot. I’ll try harder for a pic tomorrow or later in the week as they get larger. How does that happen? *insert Jeff Goldbloom meme here 😂

Aside from that the C5KC is beautiful. She looks like a gigantic KC plant but with big ass Haze looking fan leaves. Bud structure is all KC looking to me so far with a little more foxtailing and the bud leaves are more kc looking than haze looking to me. Smell, like everything crossed with KC I have grown is absolutely enchanting. So complex, spicy, dark fruity, incense, the lime is still there but super subtle. I’m really looking forward to trying this one as I really like the way KC relaxes me.

What a Holy Donk Monster the Super Malawi Haze is growing into. I can’t wait to see what she does outdoors based on her indoor performance and we’re only at 9ish weeks. Definitely a Malawi pheno based on how she’s looking. Smells are very feint and subtle. Light wood and incense smells along with the green growing plant smell. I have a feeling that properly trimmed and trained this pheno could produce colas big enough to use as baseball bats to fight off the zombie clowns that are forecasted for 2023. 😉

The Tikal smells amazing even though she still looks a solid week or two behind the others in development. Very sweet peach and incense.

The KA5H3 I’m Super stoked on. Still dominating the tent with fresh crushed black pepper smell but there is a livery incense background growing to her. Honestly it’s pretty damn weird but in a really good way. I cut up a lot of beef liver when I make dog food and absolutely hate the smell of it. For some reason that similar smell coming off the flowers is very attractive though. She is definitely a hungry one and I hope I didn’t fall too far behind her food needs. I’m going to make sure the outdoor cutting I run of her has plenty of extra food this summer.
She had a fair amount of her pistils die back this week and looks like she’s about to push more flowers. I’m assuming she falls somewhere close to the NL5Hz mom based on her flower to leaf ratio and structure.
I’ve really enjoyed the variability of the KA5H plants I’ve grown. They all have had very unique smells, effects and flavors, but also share the A5 “no tolerance building” for me. I don’t seem to plateau or hit a ceiling with any of the ones I’ve grown.
