sativagrower,

Thanks, I am excited to see how these turn out.

Here are some updated photos. Most likely the last I take for a few weeks as I will be traveling.

OTH

Still no sign of sex after a couple weeks below 12 hours light. Hope to have a sign when I get back. I culled the OTH x ?? because it was a male. Don't worry, I cloned him. Since I am unsure of strain lineage for sure, I would most likely only cross him to the OTH, but we'll see how as we move forward.

Senor Garcia

Still stretching with a few new pistils. Heavy aromatic.

OTH

A miscellaneous shot of OTH with my makeshift cover. A slight green house effect to keep heavy rain off of the plants through the winter months.

Bangi Hazes

Slowly starting to fill in the screen. I've got some insect (possible thrips) that are creating a nuisance. Sprayed with organic insecticide and will do so once more before I leave.

Ciao for now,

Been a few weeks, so here are some updates.

Here's a side by side shot. Something has had a nibble or two on the Senor Garcia. I can't tell what.

Closer look at the Senor Garcia beginning to flower. Fairly strong/skunk aroma on this girl. Should be ready around Christmas.

Here's the OTH (pure I hope). I had said I wanted to know sex by October end, well I have found a few pistils sticking out. Looks to be a female. I performed light LST on this one both indoors and after transplant outside. Did not stretch as much as I would have thought, about the same as the Senor G (2-3X). Leaves look right. We'll see how long she flowers. If it is longer than 17 weeks, I will assume she is pure. I have kept the mystery OTH male in clone form. I'll put him outside to produce pollen starting in a few weeks. I would like to hit the OTH with his pollen as well as some of the Bangi Haze male pollen.

Lot's of rain for our October. I have tried to keep the plastic cover off as much as possible, but was forced to keep it on for a few weeks. Hopefully sun comes back out as these girls are only getting about 3 1/2 - 4 hours direct a day.

Here's the indoor Bangi Haze girls.

In the screen a shot of both and an up close of Bangi Haze #2

Here's Bangi Haze #3 clone (tri-foliate)

I have been battling thrips and only managing to keep their numbers in a lower state. Any advice for these indoors? Never really dealt with them before.

I would like to flip to 12/12 in the next week or so.

Cheers Ace and Sativa lovers!

Another rainy night in October. Free watering for the outdoor girls.

Senor Garcia, looks to be done stretching and starting to build on the bud sites. The OTH lady is still stretching. Most likely a few more weeks before she starts to fill in...

Wow things are looking great for you UHN!!!
really glad to see so.
I'm excited for the senor G to develop more bud

Sg, yes she is definitely showing some of the Oregon Purple Thai in her, which comes out in the Flo as well. I grew out a pack of Flo years ago and had similar growth.

Here is the Senor Garcia a week later in flower.

Starting to pack on a nice amount of resin. Sticky and fairly strong skunk/funk odor. Still looks to be done before Christmas.

Here are some shots of the Senor Garcia with the OTH1 and of the OTH1 early flower. Long way to go on her, I think...

Here are the 2 female Bangi Hazes in my smaller cabinet...

Then a closer shot of each...

I will be flipping to 12/12 this weekend. Get ready for a bit of stretch.

Saludos

jahgreenlabel and GreenMind, thanks for keeping an eye on things while I was gone. Here's a few updates...

Group Love

The OTH1

Still very low smell. Slight lime and peppery spice smell with some sort of astringency. Very mild for now. These plants were placed outside in <12 hours light about 7 weeks ago. You can see, she's in no hurry. Lots of tiny clumps of flowers. Lovely slender look.

Senor Garcia also at about 7 weeks from introduction of 12 hours darkness. 12 weeks puts us around Dec 18. Something besides cookies for St. Nick this holiday?

The aroma of this beauty is really starting to develop. On top of the hashy/skunk I had been smelling, now sits a lovely combination of dark chocolate and berries. She should be a really nice tasting plant based on the way she is smelling right now.

I'm not sure how large either of these girls will get given the low # of hours of direct sun. Regardless, the quality looks to be well worth it.

Here's the cabinet with the Bangi Hazes. I know I said I was flipping to 12/12, but I haven't just yet. I've got a clone of each outdoor girls above that I'm trying to get a bit larger so I can flower them in the cab as well.

These girls are ready for the flip...

To you, Ace and Sativa Lovers

Nice Ur Humbl Nr8tor :) It looks like you may have the green thai oth - big and bushy with thin leaves I think was the description.

Some updates this week.

This is the OTH I've gone very lightly on feeding but did give a mild dose of organics about a week ago. Does this look like fert burn or is the plant starting to show deficiency?

She has still got a long way to go. The plant is developing a smell, but I wouldn't call it a pleasant one. Tom Hill mentions 'metal shop' as a smell to look out for. Well that is a good way to describe this girl. She smells like metal and astringents. Trichome production is picking up. We'll see what comes...

Here's the Senor Garcia, still plumping up a bit.

Smells lovely. The chocolate berry hashy skunk thing is delicious.

We've got some cold and wet nights ahead, time to cover up...

And here is round two just flipped to 12/12 in the cabinet. Small, but we'll see how they grow under artificial lights.

Look how red the Senor G stem is. It is very green outside.

Finally, here's a not so great shot of the Bangi Hazes starting their stretch. I'll take a better picture as they continue their development.

Cheers all.

Thanks Ur humbl Nr8tor,

It's great to see more oldtimer's hazes growing and flowering, not an easy line to work with, aromas are maybe not pleasant for modern concepts, old school sativa aromas, hard to find this kind of aromas and effects nowadays. Be patient and feed them softly, hope they finish well in your garden. Best wishes!

Thanks Dubi. I should note that the smell has shifted in flower as more flowers and resins are produced. Now smelling slight scents of flowers and fruits. I anticipate this will continue as she still has many weeks to flower ahead. Weather has been a bit cold this time of year. Low's to 5 deg C. I have fully wrapped her growing area in small greenhouse, so in this way, I can get daytime temps above 20 deg C. She only receives a few hours of direct light a day and I consider adding some supplemental light. Not so worried about yield, just quality of. I have fed her just once and very light. Seemed to not enjoy it so much. She is confined in a 7.5L pot, but looks like she may have grown a few roots into surrounding soil at bottom of pot. Would you recommend I transplant her to open soil at this point?

More pictures to come Ace and Sativa lover's. Senor Garcia is getting close with clear to cloudy trichomes. No amber visible yet. Some of the biggest calyxes I have seen on a plant with very few visible pistils. I though a week or so ago that she had seeded, but no, just jumbo calyx.

Bangi Hazes are getting a bit restricted in their pots and are showing lower leaf signs of deficiency. I am considering moving the two females to the green house to finish under nature and open ground. In this way, she can draw nutrients as needed from fertile soil. Still showing a bit of a stretch.

Saludos,

OMG that senor G and the Haze! UHN Super amazing buds you've got growing~!
So are you keeping one Senor Garcia indoors and one outdoors?
I bet they have very different smells if so.
I only wish I could sample some Garcia in my neighbourhood.
The Smell description is to die for.

Hola, thanks for the kind words keyplay and thesg. New photos for the Ace and sativa lovers out there...

First off, the Oldtimer's Haze...

As I mentioned, I am beginning to detect a slight smell of fruit and flower. More and more of the flowers are becoming evident along with resins. Bracts are small (especially compared to Senor Garcia sitting next to her). I expect bracts will swell as she continues to flower. I'm guessing it has been about 7-8 weeks since first pistils, so I am anticipating another 10 weeks minimum for finish. If she needs longer, I will be pushing the length of darkness, but can manage her I hope. Topped the soil with a little new FoxFarm Frog's mix and she will get watered again soon. Since it has been relatively cold for these parts, she is now fully covered in a plastic tent. Night time temps get down to as low as 5 deg C (which are record lows around here this time of year). I bring her nice hot water bottles to ride out the coldest nights. Highs in the tent are in the low/mid 20's right now. Not much direct sun this time of year. Thinking about adding supplemental lights for a few hours a day. Long wait, but she looks to be well worth it!!

Here is the Senor Garcia at about 10 weeks since first flowers.

Not much new flower development, but glands are still clear turning cloudy. No ambers as of yet, so she waits for a few more weeks to ripen up. Not sure given more light, most likely more bud development, but she makes up for it in sweet sweet resins. You will see plenty in the macros. Also, please observe the huge bracts. Some of the largest I have ever seen. Not sure if that is from the OPT or from the Panama Red, but they are immense. I can't wait to break into my OTH 3F x 6M to find a nice purple stud to mate with her. Smell is complex as mentioned. Berry's, Hash, Chocolate and Skunk. I'm sure the cure will bring even more out.

The Smell description is to die for.

thesg, I am currently keeping one small clone of the Senor Garcia indoors, but she will soon get hit with the Bangi Haze male that is getting ready to shed pollen. Same with the small OTH clone. I will most likely move them outdoors in the next week or so after pollination completes. I would like to run the Senor Garcia full blown indoors and will get to it at some point. This one may be around for a while.

The Bangi Hazes were getting severely root bound in their 4.5L pots, so I just transplanted to 12L pots and will take pictures of them soon. Flower formations are really taking off. I think I will continue to flower indoors for another week or so till the Senor Garcia finishes, then they will all go outdoors into 'the tent'. In this way, I can rearrange space for clone mothers of each. That will leave me with 3 flowering plants and 4 clone mothers. I can then think about cracking some new beans to begin selection for next year. I always keep my plant limits within the medical guidelines, so it's a juggling act. I'm thinking about cracking a few different beans. Regardless, I plan on digging into the OTH 3 x 6 as well as Tom Hills Haze. I am also considering firing up some Sour Diesel IBL and I recently scored a pack of Dj Shorts F13. Too many decisions, not enough space and time.

What part of the world are you in thesg? I'd love for you to taste the Senor Garcia as well.

Regards,
