About "elite" strains

i dont think elite necesarily has to do with potency... and if you live with your parents and you're considering growing... ask them first... or wait til you move out..

I see elite clones as stuff that is rare and has not been available to the masses. Exceptional selections of seedbank stock is'nt exactly what most folks would consider to be an elite cultivare. However once years go by and the strain has not been available for a number of years it becomes rarer and rarer, for example, my SSSC garlic bud clone or my SSSC williams wonder clone. Another source for elites is personal strains that folks have worked on for personal use that never was highly available, like my schrom or the crazy train I grow or DHK's west coast nice etc... However you know what I have grown out tons and tons of strains, lots of seedbank stuff, lots of landrace stuff and lots of the elite clone only stuff. The real truth of anything is in the puffing and strait up most of the elites are far above normal beans in regards to quality.
You know back in the day, I would have never thought that I would ever have an elite clone only or anything like that. I was just a newbie drooling over seed catalouges. I just stuck around for a few years and kept on growing and trying more and more things and posting more and more info. Eventually I made friends and friends help each other out. All I can really say about that is if you want elites stick around for a few years and prove yourself through your on-line actions and folks will eventually offer you things or be willing to send them when you politly ask for them.
Some folks think that these strains are theirs to hoard and not let out, but in honesty they are'nt our strians they are God's strains, we did'nt create cannabis mother nature and whatever created everything else created our pot. I see lots of people who hoard their strains and say that they have put in their time to get ahold of the clone so, so should everyone else. I can understand if it's your strain that you have fully worked, but if it's a clone, chances are you were just lucky enough to have gotten access to it at one point. Part of it really just comes back to money, you think that if everyone had access to the ECSD clone that Rez would be able to sell as many bx seeds as he does? Or if everyone was growing out genuis you think there would really be much market for apollo11? How about if everyone had jack's cleaner clones, no one would be looking for the pheno in Subcool's back cross beans. Of course you can;t blame a seed maker for trying to start with the strongest tastiest clone mother as they can, because why not start with a superior product.
Currently I house 80 or so strains, including most of the hoarded and hyped elites and to be honest most of them do live up to the hype, not all, but most do. I mean if it was'nt any good people would'nt have kept the plant around for the last 30 years But it is'nt really a game for the newbie or unexperienced person, there are lots of fakie clones and lots of shady folks out there in the world. I am really honored that you have posted in my thread.. and everyone else too. What you said how when you were a newbie and how you were drooling over seed catalogues...thats how it is for me now..but not over catalogues...just everyones grow makes me soo interested in it all.. Thank you very starting that elite list. That was pretty much I was looking for.

If everyone had access to ECSD and other 'elites',the world would be a better place,I'm sure.
However,we all know that's an impossibility for a number of reasons,I'm sure we can all fill in the blanks as to the veritable plethora of specifics that make 'elites',well....Elite,or,as I prefer,'Heirloom'....
Seeds,however,travel and store quite well,and getting elites with extremely desirable characteristics "back" into seed form (ie. repeatedly breeding (BXing,IXing,et al) for the ECSD mother's best traits) is a bit of an obsession of mine,cantcha' tell? :smile:

Over and over again it goes,trying to refine a Divine Recipe that we can only hope to gain a limited control over,(at a non-laboratory level) -plant genetics.
I've learned shitloads over the years,and have gone to great lengths to share quite a bit of my journey online,to an audience that frequently seemed to root for me to fail,rather than succeed.
Tiring,but that's what happens when you succeed,so....sour grapes to them.
I love these 'elite genetics' threads,but I sense that the ones complaining loudest are the ones that haven't 'put in their time',as Schrooomy says,and in my not-so-humble opinion,if you haven't put in the time then your opinion on this topic means,well,ZIP.
Just about anybody who's put a couple of solid years in at IC/OG has access to cartons of 'rarities/elites/heirlooms',it's just a matter of PATIENCE,and being there for the community,et al.

Yeah I know what you mean Rezdog.. I do want to be part of the community and contribute to all of you... But as of right now, I am trying first to see how everything goes for me..Justed started bagseed a month ago..Looks great and like a indica, node and internodes are soo tight..But as soon as I get the hang of it I will try my best in making the best bud in the world (=..lol..one can try and dream..And once I get the hang of it.. I will try to do what you are doing with the ESCD...with the Schroomy Deeze I won, if I get it.. Try to make something really close to schrom in seed form along with the SD.. but that will be years to come...(= what exactly is that you crossed the schrom mom with? Thanks a lot everyone once again for contributing to my knowledge. Thanks for allowing me to purchase these seeds at low price..
What exact is the pheno of the schrom clone mom...indica/sativa..smell...height...etc...
