hey noob have you seen the books cannabible 1 & 2 by jason king ? they have alot of elite strains in them ..this is a short list of elite's .. aecali-o(cali-orange),og'er kush(kush),geneiss(jack herer), eastcoast sour D, puple haze( haze),cheese(skunk), elvis(?),eastcoast strawberry cough,panama red,chocolet thi, sharon (white widow),pez,chem, dawg,..so on and so forth ..hope this helps

About the east coast sour diesels.. are the clones and mothers around from the same one mother? I believe Crazy Composer, Orgrskal, Rezdog, Ohenry and many others have ECSD.

nycnoob, i know what u mean when people say they got dro. big fuckin deal, what does that mean? hit them w/ that the next time they try saying their dro is the shit. they're just used to impressing people w/ that word. i'm surprised u don't see alot more quality bud from nyc. im in nj and i have 3 connects that get wicked shit, all from nyc. i'm just getting tired of paying alot for good weed. first grow soon. some strains u should be able to get in nyc from people from nyc who get good bud:
nycdiesel, sour diesel, AK47, jack horrer, durban, calio. these are some of the ones that seem to be around almost all of the time between my 3 connects. especially the diesels and the AK. pricey but very tasty and potent.

I don't know what all this big hype is around these so-called 'elite' strains. To me all that elite translates into is an exceptional plant. If that is the case then every strain availible from any breeder no matter how good or bad thier genetics maybe could be called elite. All you need to do is grow out at least 100 seeds or more at a time, then you will find a female unlike all the others. You want some chocolate thai, grow out a couple hundred seeds of super thai or some similar mostly thai cross, you're bound to hit into a chocolate pheno sooner or later. I am sure most of you get my point, not trying to be an ass or anything I just dont see what all the hype is about 'elites'. (Rene is rumoured to be an exceptional Romulan selection too)

me either really.. I dont want to be arguementative, but how come the sig if that is how you feel... I dont know what krypto is made of, but I am sure it has been crossed.. same for the landraces.. plant 100 seeds of something mixed with columbia sativa and youll find the right pheno in there somewhere... but when you think of it in buying 100s of seeds that almost justifies someone charing 1000 plus for a clone :yuk:

I'm curious as to how many times either of you have bought 10 packs of seeds and grew them out... looking for "The One"?

I grow out a good measure of seed... it's fun looking and i'm rewarded with great smoke... sometimes something exceptional.

BUT...

IF I had the opportunity to have an elite clone... I just saved myself alot of cash on seeds... space... grow media... lights and nutes... I'll gladly take a proven performer... and continue my personal search for that one special girl.

Just my two-cents... spread the good genetics... so much has been lost already.

Bram is right on with this. 'Elite' is really a matter of choice. The Elite's you're talking about nycnoob are the strains that have received the most rave's. The strains most desired by the masses. Whether it be through hype or because they are that damn good. Most of them I would guess really are that damn good. That's why everyone wants to try them. But it's still just a matter of opinion. You're always going to want to try the next great thing, but what will truely become an 'Elite' to you is that one particular strain that you ultimately prize over all the others. You're Mommasita #1. There's a lot of good strains out there to try. By clone or seed, you're going to find some that sweep you off your feet.

Caljax (2 pheno's)
Blueberry (Capt. Crip)
NL x Kush
Soma A+
Strawberry Cough
Sweet Pink Grapefruit

All of these I got from friends. Since you live at home I won't recommend growing now, but what you can do is start sampling whatever you can. Keep trying to find out what that 'dro' you're smoking is, and when you find one you really like, buy seeds of that strain, or something crossed with it. When you get the chance to start growing you'll be that much closer to your own personal 'Elite'. Good luck on your search. Sometimes we find what we seek. :wink:

Organic, Kryptonite is a mostly sativa haze hybrid out of California. I was told by one of the guys that ran The Spirit Within across from the DaKines that it dates back to the 70's. Anyways it was nice smoke, and I figure if I can get my hands on some seeds of it that I can find some extremely exceptional females and males to use as breeding stock when I get my next grow going. Same goes for the landraces. I have tried Panama Red, thought it was good sat. not the best cause grown indoors but figured, hey this aspect of the high would be good for a combination into this earlier flowering outdoor sat. giving me the oppurtunity then to create a backcross hybrid of some stellar sativa that only gets to raise its head in full glory when grown outdoors now gets a chance to in my local environs, and then maybe everyone can start to remember the Good Ole Days as our elders do.

Sorry everyone if this thread is just going to cause drama. I wanted feedback on what strains people thought were good, also what I think are elites to clarify are the ones that are a great smoke just like Greatlakes said. But also what I meant was that it's a clone only strain. So then I would have to find the crosses', its seed and try to find the one" But then also maybe that strain in seed isn't around anymore, So then I would have to find the crosses to that strain and keep trying? Then for those that no one can seriously get anymore in like the 70's or later what not to make those great "elite" strains. Although I haven't smoke these elite strains since the "dro" I have around here, people don't even know the strain or the crosses used to make it, like I said also. But after hearing stories of the ECSD and Sharon knocking the shit, outta people, I want to try it, but can't find it, which leads to only way by growing it, if I could get my hands on it. Hope you all catch my flow. Sorry if I don't make sense, I do have a lot of grammar problems and structure problems but this isn't school. Nor I hope no one will say that I should try because this is a place where I like to stay and read all the grows, stories, and smoke report. Good luck everyone.

Insted of everyone refering to them as "Elite's and Clone-only's" they should be giving more respect and calling them Heirloom strains.....Because typicaly any strain given the title Elite is gonna get passed down for Generations of growers....as some of the more famous ones did before them...

Any strain of cannabis can be "elite" as long as it is one of the most Prime examples of that given hybrid or strain......meaning if you grew the strain from seed it would be the 1:500 or even 1:1000 GEM you find even if found in a pack of 10 seeds ....it is the exceptional example that exceeds the standards of most herb growers and smokers alike......ANY strain can blow yer socks off if you you only get to smoke a few oz's of it.....but the really good ones continue to get you blazed to almost the same degree without much onset of tolerance years down the road..... there are so called elite strains that just didnt match up to others in staying power so it is really about personal prefrence....

so the short of it is find what fits your taste and tolerance levels ....and ater a couple yrs of growin if yo feel the commercial scene isnt where the potencey is at then start yer quest for the golden ones.....test the waters before jumpin in....Some strains are hyped......others are so good if ya get hold of the Clones, NO other strains will ever match up again......

Elite strains and top genetics are mainly about the hype. But hey, have fun. For max hype, try Soma or BOG seeds. Or just move out and grow/smoke some good pot. Find something you like, or something to impress your friends, it's all good.

Note: Soma's NYCD is half from bagseed.

Well damn moonshine...Yeah i would pretty much think also that people think those strains are pretty darn elite. Clones from the 80s..dang..Yeah i understand about all that hype, but in my opinion if people get knocked out cold, it should be pretty damn good. I understand also about how people have difference tolerance and taste, too but just like moonshine said "the really good ones continue to get you blazed to almost the same degree without much onset of tolerance years down the road". Well yeah good luck everyone on your grow. Yeah Heirloom does sound like a great name for it and doesn't give it much of a hype.
