Kiss your ass goodbye?Sure death because a propane tank got knocked over? You should stop scaring people like that man, thats ridiculous.Like I said if you smell gas and light a cigarette then I suppose you get what you deserve, but lets not make a big danger out of something that is not really dangerous if you have a brain

Thats what I think too.
I think I would smell it.
But I do smoke bowls feet away from that spot.
But if I do end up getting this thing to work.
I'll buy a carbon monoxide sensor so if it's leaking I'll know and I won't fire one up.
I'll just set it next to wherever I'm chillin or sleeping.
I think I could do this safely.
But very carefully.
Thanks for all the help everyone.

will a carbon monoxide sensor tell if if propane is leaking? it will tell you if the burner is using the O2, and creating CO, but leaking propane??

you must be a 16 year old dumb ass

do research on the hazards of knocking the valve off of a pressurized cylinder.. it will go from your basement through the roof of your house.. or your parents house in skelators case..

i have heard people saying that there are a few good growers here but a bunch of chump kids.... i see this might be true..

secure your tanks!!!

Yes. It is true that if a valve gets knocked off, bad things can happen. The thing that will punch a hole in your roof most often is a water heater without a pressure relief valve. The handle on most propane (not propain) tanks is set up surrounding the valve for an extra measure of safety, so I wouldn't sweat it.

yes it's true that the water heater is the usual suspect to fly through sumbody's roof, because of thermal expansion and check valves...

to be honest i am used to being around bigger tanks than 20-40lbs, if your under 100lbs. cylinder they usually have a built in guard as CHK said..

so did the leak get fixed???

hey xxx you chump! :bat:

when was the last time you heard of a valve breaking off a tank? i saw a 20lb tank accidently dropped from a cliff and it hit 4 or 5 times before the valve finally got knocked off. i dont think its really a concern that someone will knock their valve off. :moon:

i was just trying to help somebody out and i get a smart ass comment.. wtf am i supposed to say...

i say one line "kiss your ass goodbye" and i'm melodramitic.. (even though it's true)

hope you got your leak fixed...

i'm used to using large cylinders like i said, not the baby ones. the next step up from the 40lbs. is the 100lbs and it has no valve guard.

good luck!!!

Haven't you seen the movie Bad Boys (or was it Bad Boys II), where that 100lb propane cylinder falls, the valve hits the pavement, and it goes flying around like a missile and eventually goes to blow up the bad guys'? Or was that in Gone In 60 Seconds? I mean, duh! :)

i think it was the "must be a 16 year old dumbass" that make u out to be the "heavy" XXX.

skeletor ussually does not provoke peeps in the manner u did him.
I read his posts often and hes quite helpful to peeps seekin the trade know how that he and i possess, i have read some of ur post XXX and i vaguley remembr u have some knowlege about electricty (good for you).

i know u have the originalposters safety in mind but the "stab"u took at him (skeletor) was "over the line" IMHO
perhaps u would like to take a "stab" at me also?? i use 20 lb tanks for my burner and i keep em right under the burner in the grow space, ironically my first regulator "leaked" too (must be common prob.LOL) i obviously knew it was an unacceptable situation and my hydro shop operator replaced it w/o even a question. this solved my problem/concern about the subject.
never even contemplated the valve bein knocked off my tank and i would liken the odds of winning the lotto jackpot would far outweigh the probability
of a tank valve hazard especially the way the handle acts as a guard for it too.

u owe the man an apology IMHO he's done nothing but help peeps on this site AND on OG.
BUZZ!

i never said u werent tryin to help the original poster u have their best interest at heart, i am quite sure of that!!
as to your sarcasm about your trade knowledge reagrding electricity/plumbing
i have done nothing but pay you a compliment. don't worry i have confidence in my own standing in my trade to never have to ask you anything (good for me!!) as far as plumbing/gas trade knowledge i would have to yeild to a professional's advice if any questions come about that i could'nt solve w/ a bit of common sense!!

it is sad that you choose to miss the intent of my earlier post (peace!!)
i dont know you but i would bet that you do not take criticism well if at all and i am sure you havent admitted your own faults/wrong doings in a long time if ever. (just a thought XXX , not tryin to provoke ya!!)
we are all human and NO ONE knows it all.... me, skeletor , you either!!!

Lets just relax and start fresh guys.
Sometimes people get uptight on these boards.
What can you do. Life can be abitch sometimes and I think some people accidently let it spill onto the forums from within.
I'm sure I've done this myself.

Anyway, I havn't been able to get anywhere because my car got totaled.
So I've been a little stranded for a while lately.
I just need to borrow a wrench from a friend.
I don't have a pre sized wrench like it says to use.
And I don't want to bend the intake or outake of the hose.
I'll check back with you guys when it gets done.

But I wanted to ask you guys about my water heater being close to the tank.,
If it ever leaked,It would blow as soon as the water heater kicked on ,huh?
This is all new stuff for me.
Never delt with gas like this before.
I am a bit nervous about all this.
Especially because the tank will be about 7 feet from the water heater.
What do you guys think?

Also does propane rise or is it heavier then air?

Propane is heavier than air for sure.

If your tank was leaking, yes it could definitely blow once your water heater kicks on... electric or gas, doesn't matter. Sparks from electrical appliances can light propane. Ever hear of houses catching on fire after propane leaks from the stove (after pilot light goes out), and the fridge compressor ignites the gas? Ever seen Fight Club? With a gas water heater the pilot light could ignite the gas, so the water heater doesn't even need to be running for this to happen.

There's no excuse to have any amount of propane leaking anywhere, that's just asking for trouble. Doesn't matter whether the water heater is above or below or sideways or whatever.

PS - I agree with you Re: letting emotions carry over on to Internet forums, etc, as I'm guilty of that (multiple times, in just past few days alone). On this thread I tried to see if that Bad Boys thing would lighten things up, but apparently not.

i'm done with this thread, i appoligize that i let my emotions over ride my intellect in this situation.
