Abandoned dogs

We learned from our neighbor that Trisha had a seizure. Turns out she needs medicine, which they now have and give to her.

That just makes me doubly pissed off. I can't imagine the level of assholery it takes to abandon a dog you know needs medicine regularly.

Had 3 dropped off here, so far.
They all found good homes.

I try not to be judgmental Weez, but I kind of lose my mind when it comes to puppies. I don't know the folks who abandoned these dogs, and I will admit that it may have been a last resort. That said, I don't respect that kind of solution.

Also, if I was meant to have all these fur balls, I'd like to know which god I pissed off.

Hershey is a seriously good dog and all he wants is someone to love him. He's in luck, because the missus and I are his kind of suckers.

Seems to me that these two dogs landed in the right field . They are probably getting more love & attention than they are used to & enjoying it

The missus had the groomers shave Hershey. I wasn't in favor, but I'm not the one who has to deal with cleaning up all the hair.

I'd go shorter on the ears and tail, too! When the hair grows out a little...it'll be even softer and you'll just love Hershey, even more!

Not trying to defend anything but, 35 years ago..before there there was a rescue/abandon baby programs; a baby was dropped off in our ER; the baby had been kid-napped! Maybe, those critters had a similar experience. I'd suggest you ask Hershey..but then, what do I know? lol enjoy your new loving gift! As, I am enjoying seeing you start a zoo and new career for retirement! jpt

at the beginning of the month I found a senior old Lab pacing back and forth at the end of our driveway like someone had dropped him off. that poor dog was heart broken for it's owners and it was very tough to have this thrown at us in regards to adjusting with our resident animals. he was just so happy and arthritic I felt bad for him so we fed him, put an ad on CL and waited for a phone call and after 5 days, his owner calls and says he's been looking for him?! I was hearbroken because I had fallen in love with him but that dog loved it's owner so the guy came to pick him up. two days later he called me back and asked him if I wanted him and he wanted to get rid of him?! turns out, he got a new puppy and the old arthritic dog didn't appreciate the new puppy bites and tugs and was running away from home. I can't understand how people can love something for 11 years and then get a puppy and expect no issues and when they do arise, and they will, they get "rid" of the old faithful dog?! seriously tears me up. Good for you for taking them in and making sure the owners get in trouble for what they did.

Easiest intro is take them all to a dog park with lots of dogs.
In separate cars.

Then just let 'em all run like a pack.
When you put them back on the leash, put Hershey on one too.
Then walk all three dogs in the same direction for a while.
That's when they bond.

Now you can take them home in the same car.
Turn them into your yard and pour yourself a tall one while they romp.
Don't be surprised if Missy invites Hershey into the House and ask is she can keep her.

Good advice Weez, but our dog park is our back yard. We've never had any of them to an actual dog park.

It's working and we could probably move faster, but we're not in a hurry and we want to make sure it works. Also, our grandson is staying with us for a summer vacation. He goes back home after this week. We'll look to fully integrate them after he leaves in case there's any unexpected fighting.

I don't see it either. Some folks just seem to see their pets as "things" to go with their other things. We see our pets as one of us. Difference in perspective means everything.

Hershey reminds me of our labrador/border collie mix, love that old bastard to death, would love to get some pups out of him but people dont want healthy bastard pups around here, only massively inbred pups they ship in from eastern europe its sad..

Holy crap Weeze..where were you 32 years ago when I brought home a new puppy for my 'rescued' shihtzu. He loved other animals outside of the home and I thought he'd love a little playmate. I searched for the right little pup, went to the Westminster dog show in Long Beach and 'ordered' a playmate. Everyone at work told me..he isn't going to like it. I was absolutely certain he wanted a 'friend' and I was working so much.

That damn sweet special little dog of mine..he quit eating. No fighting, just nothing. A new pup and a spoiled older one. He kept if up for a while. I went and bought the little shit a porterhouse steak and sat his little ass on my kitchen table to eat it. Little fart..he never ever touched it.

That little 'rescue' opened my heart in such a special way I never imagined. Life has never been the same since he entered my life.
He was challenging..but, that would be another thread.

There is so much pleasure from pain, in this thread. Blue..you and your wife are so special and all those posting here. I just couldn't imagine life without our little furry friends and I expect when I reach my final destination all my little critters will be there to greet me. Right now, I have one spoiled one with all the positive attributes of them all.

Our lives are so much fuller as a result and you've been so blessed, as so many of us. jpt

I guess I can't expect others to share a love of dogs, but I can expect them not to own one if they don't. Dogs need exercise, play, and attention to go with their food and water. That's a big commitment. Or at least, it should be . . .

You are right about that Weez. I am such a fortunate man. Life is great and Hershey just adds one more item to the "this rocks" ledger. He is a lover who wants to please. When he wants some loving, he'll jump in my lap. Not all the way, just his front paws. Then he'll raise one and just look at me as if to say, "look at this target, how can you not pet me?" I'm a sucker for that.

We're going to take him out back later and try to get some photos and/or vids of him running amok back there. If we can get a good shot, it is sure to warm your heart.
