two people vs trying to keep a trim crew of 20-30 around...might need 4-6 people to finish trim...but not me,it's in my contract....no trimming!

Pretty much been documenting what I do online…since 2009. I stopped threading on any Canna forums when I wasn’t growing…but documented the camping/running trip 2019-2021 on Instagram. The exodus out of Southern California finding a more suitable base of operations on the Gila in South West New Mexico.
On my trip…more than one…Canna forum member hooked me up with herb…and interesting places to stay and mountains to run. So…some people…on these things…are actually real…and very cool people. It’s not all cyber maniacs out there. Only in here.
* I originally had no intentions of returning to IC…being banned for god knows what on the jericho/the pablos account…but I revisited this thread to get information for this grow I’m doing now…happy to see it still available. Helped a lot. On a private forum I happened to meet somebody who is associated with this site…and that person lifted the ban on this account.
So..I decided to break up the documentation and put it in different places. The first part of this grow is on a private site.

^ Further pruning/wiring on Sister #26 in the East Island. No issues with her…growing hard…barging through the screen.
^ On the far west side of the West Island…because Sisters #4 and #9 were in range of deer…picking them off the top…
…I raised the chicken wire side caging up a foot or so….as per plan.
* I’ve been getting Mule deer on the trail cams…does…but they have plenty to eat this time of year….and show no interest in the garden. To error on the side of caution…however…I’ll not tempt them.
Rabbits are the most common animal on the trail cams. They’ve had all the opportunities in the world…to…go under the side cage wire and feast on the volunteer Cantaloupe…but again…this time of year…they are well fed. And the plants are big enough now…to be trees…too big for rabbits to be a threat.
So yeah…what I’m getting at is…the bottoms will be open (as per plan) and the tops protected. I’m performing the task…as needed…when needed…

Running
^ Early morning start
^ Raked up about 2 complete industrial size bags (broken down into 2 loads) of Oak duff. This to feed the carpet…before the screen starts really filling in…already very tedious and hard work…gathering off a hill…and hauling the heavy bags down…cart them to the garden…then manipulate the heavy plastic bags under the screen in a hunch…avoiding sharp wire…and the plants.
About 1/2 the haul is loose leaf…the rest is the decomposed compacted…goods…that has broken down over the years…in the shade of its maker. It gets heavy. I started the gardening session with this necessary chore…before the sun was up.
* It’s my belief that the medium blends…should be kept…as simple as…and as natural as…possible. Forest duff…better yet…forest creek bottom duff…is usually rich. I’ve never tested my mediums…other than…watching how things grow. Not just the plants. The medium itself. Seems to work. I don’t need numbers to tell me that. I can go by the smell of the medium…whether it’s working or not.
^ Immediately water the duff down in place. Get it cooking. You may be surprised at how little water penetrates the duff. I have to hit it with a hard spray to break it down…beyond the first couple inches. Once the moisture is in…the duff starts cooking…and then it’s just…a matter of…keeping it constantly moist.
^ Sister #18 of the East Island. Aggressive grower…willing player…kicking into another gear
^ Sister #17 of the Middle Island. I think she and Sister #18 are very similar expressions. We’ll see how that ages. Kick ass grower

Got up under a good one. Hot climb up Pinos Altos Mountain…via the tower access road…went up until the cloudburst…7500-8100’…with a volume of slushy hail…turned it with the start of the rain. Temps dropped 15 degrees at least…rained the entire run down. Perfect timing.
Before the rain…it was really muggy…without wind…running up the mountain was like running in a sauna…but with hungry aggressive flies buzzing…landing on me to drink my salty sweat.
After the rain came…the world became clean with a wet cool breeze.
^ Watching the build up forming over the peak (8100’)…after having put in the first mile of climbing…guesstimating how far I’d get before it burst
^ These two pictures were taken within a few minutes of each other. About the time I reached the cell…and maneuvered to a vantage point to wait for it to start falling out. Wasn’t but a few minutes.
^ Watching the cell drift over to the lesser of the mountain’s two peaks. Think that one is around 7800’…something like that.

damn,those dirt roads look tasty,looks like some solid climbs then a ripping downhill

hill climbing on bikes is funny that way...grind uphill for an hour,down in 15 minutes
This mountain is not on Forest Service land. It’s private. It was mined heavily in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. There are holes into it all over. The Hearst family was involved…and in fact…some of the communication towers on the peaks…have the Hearst name on it.
I’ve seen pictures of how it used to look in the early 1900’s….clearcut of all vegetation and a narrow gage rail line running over it. Most the roads I run on now…are either mine access roads or the old path of the rail line (that served the mines)
Great grinding hill…that is not used much…by either mountain bikers or runners. It’s in the sun all winter too. Pretty much consider myself king of the mountain. I usually don’t see another person. Especially in summer heat.
They are (for many years now) attempting to sell lots 10-50 acres for houses. Make it an estate type deal. Pinos Altos Mountain Estates is the current title. Death trap when a fire runs up it though.
I’ve run all sides of it. I run it often.

^ Some of the Sisterhood’s leads…are more than…a foot above the screen. Where advantageous…I started bending and wiring some leads to the screen. It’s not just a placement thing…but also…a timing thing.
* Rain fell deep and steady throughout periods…of the night. The Sisters reacted in kind…with lush growth.
I lasted about 3 hrs ….crimping, bending, and wiring. After that…I was fried…and the sun was in my eyes.
This is every day stuff now

Another early morning session. Put in close to 4hrs keeping the Sisterhood organized. The growth is so rapid in this phase…that wires I applied 3 days ago…need to be removed and reapplied. It’s a good thing….even if it makes a lot of work
Ran up…above the Monastery and Convent…onto their land…monks and nuns…hid out in their little chapel thingy above…waited about 20 minutes for the cell to break open. It did…dumped on me for the next hour …
Took trail and dirt roads further up the mountain….lightening flying…elevation thunder exploding…saw a distant bolt hit a tree…for a split second I saw the explosion. Crazy powerful stuff…but at the cost getting chafed to shit inside the left leg…wet shorts and salt…rubbed raw

Finished running yesterday…then another..shorter session…back at the ranch. Few hours in the morning…another hour or so in the evening.
We’ve had good rains in the evenings…last two days….and the cycle continues. Garden is responding
