I know it's just 'opinion' about clawing, but I think many cannabis types just really really likes to have the bended downward bract enclosure over the calyxes, which are also (perhaps) composed of 2 upside down claws forming a calyx.
-One of thepablos plants recently, to me, sort of looked like it had bunches of birds perched in it where the claws had formed the shapes of wings, lol

its funny,i have a cut known as gorilla glue #4,its basically the result of a lesbian three way...and yet it is far more stable than some of the traditional m/f bred plants in the same room...if i had known how it came to be i may not have been excited to get it,now having grown it its made me rethink a few things....

I believe many growers are unaware...as are some breeders...as to how many "males" they are using in their programs...are actually females gone extreme in sex flux.

I've always blamed nutes for clawing?
Although extreme heat can cause it also IME. Usually some heat callousing too if that's the case tho. Have a couple of haze hybrids doing it right now too.
I don't have the soft touch required by some of the more temperamental ones.

Agreed. I cater only to my program. could be heat..could be nutrients or pH...but only one RKM and one PJ show claws...so it could be that they just grow that way. Looks like N overdose..but they don't seem at all hindered.

In my style of growing...one shot...never have a chance to dial anything in. growing on the fly

Claws are cool with me...as long as..the plants seem healthy and happy.

I've moved that BB leaner around...just seeing if the difference in lumens or angles..or heat..changed her outlook. Nope.

I'm feeding rather lightly thus far...teas and salts..but she's starting into the P blasting stage...so we'll see how she handles that.

Ever use urine in a tea? Crazy stuff

I second this ..I notice it when ever my roots get cold in small pots ..after a day or 2 under a warm light leafs straightens ...

Yup on the Chem DD. I was looking at F3 beans just yesterday...but decided to germ up Candy Loving= Chem DD X ELEBX1 x ChemDBX2 IX1 and...

I have Mox Mox and Mox Krox going in the garden...which are DD related (Mox Mox uses the same mom as Candy Loving...and Mox Mox is the mother of Mox Krox lol)....but anyway

* Could be root zone temps...but again...the claws are only showing on 2 plants. I think I'm running the room on the hot side..though maybe their night temps are dropping too much (with the weather up and down here lately...keeping it all perfect indoors..is more a game..kind of a run it on feel...don't check temps really)

Killer. I decided on Candy Loving because I'm concentrating on progressing crosses made with my DD "Deliah" mom. Candy Loving is only in the 1st generation...and I need to progress it down the line.

Candy Loving has a bunch of Chem and Diesel...about all it really is. Anything that comes close to Deliah is most welcome here...really one of my favorite plants of all time.

I want to cross Candy Loving into Hell Hound and Prune Juice eventually....expand away from what is

No. I gave her up...if I recall...she was the last clone hold out...when I fully committed to the sanity of seed only.

* There are 3 clones I still think about a lot:

#1 Chem DD F1 "Deliah"

#2 Highend F1 "Sugar"

#3 Original Flo " Purple Stem Flo"

I bred the hell out of Flo and Deliah....so they are not really lost. Sugar is lost...because she has been the only female plant that I've had...that would not take pollen. It's documented....I tried and tried...more than a few ways.

So...out of those 3...I miss Sugar the most. The only Blueberry tasting plant I've ever grown...done by 50 days..a Blue Rene...and if I had a chance to have her back in clone form even...I'd accept her with open arms. Very unique

Let's look at my population of Mox Mox F1

Mox Mox = Chem DD X TFlux

TFlux = Original Flo X Chem DD

An important transition in my garden....my Flo mom and my DD mom are in there. I kept 2 males (the 2 plants on the far left) and will pollinate any expression that moves me.



^ These plants...whereas not mutated at all (like my Flo mom was)..remind me more of Flo than the Chem DD. The Flo has been washed with the DD coming from both the male (in TFlux) and again in the next step when I pollinated Deliah with the TFlux pollen (the TFlux males were both partially mutated)

For sure...I can sense the Flo. Lazy slow vegging plants...almost appear dainty in nature. This is specialized stuff...you must have the proper outlook to grow this cross.

Now here's a look at the Mox Krox F1 male



Mox Krox = Mox Mox X Grape Krush

The 3 females are in the flower studio...and that's all there is to represent the cross. Seems interesting enough to go ahead and use my limited resources/material to make the 2nd generation..as those Grape Krush males have proved themselves over and over...to which I say: the more the merrier

Get me out of the F1..and I'll work the selections up into some kind of Blue infused Chemical batter...all kinds of common grounds I can find in my bean collection...that will hook up in excellence

* playing that dangerous game of timing pollen drop. That male is getting close...but I have not exiled him out of the flower studio yet...goddamn if he cuts loose now..I'm fucked.

Exactly how it is with Candy Loving....after all these years I still remember her name and the pix. When I googled her for naming the cross...her pix were like a homecoming. Not the hottest playmate..just one of those memory things. My friends and I had her pictures on the walls of our fort.

I usually leave the males on 12/12 until they have a decent flower set. Then I throw them into the veg area to ride it out. They keep flowering under the constant light and it cuts down my chances of pollinating the whole group. I accidentally pollinated the whole squad when I did the Highend

Yup..I pick the most ripe looking flowers and chew them gentle between my teeth. When they are getting close...I can taste and feel the pollen grains. Time comes when they accelerate their growth..then it's time to exile

I move my males into a different spot when I think they are there. Finish flowering them either on my back deck or indoors behind a sliding glass door. So they get only natural light after they are exiled.

* I rarely mess up my timing..knock on wood...don't want to jinx myself. Push them close to the dropping point before exile...mostly because I don't want them lingering around my house for any longer than necessary. Have to put them in a darkened side room during the night...not difficult..but just another task that needs to be performed every morning/evening

Yeah...I find it safe and easier than bagging branches. I say an hour..but 15 minutes will work..then spray down.

My biggest danger is moving wet plants around bare bulbs...little sketchy when I have to bring them back in. Of course..if I have time..I blow dry them with a fan..before moving them.
