Seismic: Thanks. I haven't sexed it yet. But no, I probably wont scrog, I'm more of a SOG kind of guy. I'm hoping to sex him/her within a couple of weeks. I plan on crossing it with a few choice breeds. If it's a girl she's going to get cloned and tossed out in the woods.

Mayan: I can't wait to hear the smoke report on yours. They looked great by the way;I love that slightly wild look.

Pebble: Thanks. I noticed that you put a picture of an outdoor O.E. in the sticky thread. Nice dense looking foliage. What is your latitude?

SCARAMANGA

hi scaramanga

DAY 21
The stretching has slowed down, so things should start getting interesting pretty soon.

And this is another one that I just put into flower along with her sister.

On a side note, I am using about 8%(1 part in 12) coffee grounds in my mix, and they seem to be really enjoying it. Any thoughts from anyone?

Coffee grounds are great, I never let my wife throw them away, it drives her nuts. Those OE are going to be loading up soon, they look real nice all cleaned up like that.Mine ate like pigs the last time, I can just remember feeding and feeding and never burning, I had 5gal buckets with a nice organic mix but as the plants exploded I couldn't help shooting them with a blast of Dyna-Bloom, or two.....Best of luck with 'em they're on the road to success, I bet you can smell 'em by now...Chaco, aka, Lilly456.:joint::joint:

Hi GH and Chaco, thanks for stopping by. I'm trying out the coffee grounds in my mix for the first time, so far so good. One thing I have noticed is that the soil tends to stay a little moister for a little longer. I loaded up this batch of soil with organic amendments like the coffee grounds, hummus, composted cow manure, and worm castings, hopefully that will satiate their hunger.

Hey Dubi, any idea what side of the family this one(pic of day21) is leaning towards?

Hi Pebble, thanks for the kind words. The soil is not staying too moist, just a little moister with the coffee grounds than without. Not a problem, just an observation.

I hope it is closer to the Vietnam Black, I have always heard very good things about it.:woohoo:

Gracias hermano

Hello scaramanga,

Seems to be more on the vietnamese side of the cross, she streches strong in early flowering but she finishes with high yield and deep strong earthy/coffee aromas.

Coffee ground is a nice aditive to the mix, especially nicely composted and for outdoor growing. Sometimes it can rot easily when is not mixed uniformly or with excessive waterings.

Thanks for the reply Dubi, I have hopes that she smokes like the VB.

Update day 28, a few pics.

Day 8

#2
picture.php

#8 is starting to put out some resin, and is starting to smell. But the smell is not what I expected, it's a penetrating sweet citric smell, really, really nice. The resin heads are small and very concentrated, typical of what you see on a sativa.:abduct:

DAY 14

#2 has absolutely taken off in the last week. I had purposely trimmed it down heavily right before it was put into flower to control its height; I don't think it even noticed.

#8 Has started taking on an earthy smell(like a fine pottery clay) in addition to the citric(smells like a lemon cleaner) tones it already has. It has also started to pack on the resin, and the weight. While moving her around for the pics she filled my house with her beautiful aromas and left my fingers oh so sticky; I love it.:woohoo:

I can't wait for my final 2 females to go into flower as I am very anxious to test and compare them all.

Hey Dubi, are the citric tones in her are from the VB, or just an odd trait?

Beautiful scaramanga :)

Vietnamese Black mother has some recessive citric influences but it's mostly earthy and hashy, chinese sometimes adds asian citric/fruity tones but it's not very dominant.

Hi Rubio, thanks for stopping in. I can't wait to read your smoke report on the Malawi x Meao Thai, they look great!!!

Thanks Dubi, the earthy, organic smells have started to intensify over the last 10 days or so and are starting to become the more predominant smells, with the citric tones firmly in the background.

I'm hoping to put a few cuttings out in the forest this week. Perhaps 2 or 3 small rooted cuts of the 2 that I am currently flowering. I don't expect them to get very big this late in the season, but I just want to get an idea of what to expect for next year. I'll try and take some pics if I wind up going. I hope they can handle wet feet as the rains have been really heavy lately.

Keep it green.

DAY 42

#8

She's still putting on the weight and pumping out the resin. The aromas are taking on a strong hashy, earthy, kind of funky tones with the citric smell being completely overridden by the others, although still noticeable.

Since she still has another two weeks(at least) I can only imagine how much more weight she is going to put on.:woohoo:
