A question for the growers using Jacks 5-12-26

It's best to mix by EC or ppm. I too make stock solutions, so much easier.

You can add 1 gram of sodium benzoate to every gallon of stock solution as a preservative to keep mold and bacteria from growing.

Grab you some maxigrow/bloom for now to get them healthy again, keep the jacks on the side and make a clone for testing purposes. Id go the simple route and premix stock solutions using 880gs of jacks and calnit and starting around 7ml/gl. Ive been doin that for a while and they dig it, other than the true og and some cookie phenos, they need extra calmag, the epsom didnt do it for them

Interesting you say that cause from looking at them I could swear they look short of calmag. That's why today I was going to do a 1:1 ratio. If that doesn't work I'm even considering throwing in some GH calmag next week(yes I know most here would not recommend that).

Interesting tip, thx. Where can one order sodium benzoate?

hmm

you are using r/o water?

i mix jacks calcnit equal parts by volume.

never measured it by weight.

i had poor results making stock solutions, there was fallout in the bottom of the containers.

i know it can be frustrating when things arent going right, maybe try using jacks on one plant until you get a method figured out.

if you want i can walk you through how i mix it.

Thx speed, I appreciate the offer but feel like their's something else going on or missing. With that being said it certainly couldn't hurt and could possibly help others in the future reading this thread.

Im using jacks in rockwool, I keep pH around 5.7 in veg and swing it to 6.3 by end of flower.

Don't give up on the jacks rabbi. Just keep trying.
With AN you don't have to worry about the pH so much but with the jacks you must get the pH right.
Make damn sure your pH meter is calibrated every time you use it.

Thx man, I am gonna keep plugging away at it for a couple more weeks. I really want it to work out, it would so be worth all the effort.

Sorry about the troubles rabbi.. it's worth ironing out tho.. if for no other reason than $.

I think i saw you asking about 1:1.. did you try?
When i switched over to jacks i couldn't keep up with the food needs.. tried 1:1 and problems went away.. i think last run i ran 1:1-ish thru stretch.

I'm not picky about it these days.. long as enviro is good, moisture consistent, and i don't let salts build up (see: don't let my shit dry out).. they don't seem to care if i give em 1:.6 or 1:1.. so i do like 9:7or8.... (i.e. 9g jacks, 7-8g cal nit per 5 gal lands me around 1.1 EC)
all my plants get the same thing, just vary strength.. if they are newly rooted or seedlings, i take some of that solution and add more water.
No epsom here, done both. finished a glue run recently, didn't use epsom.. everything was groovy.

I'm in coco.. but I like a pH swing, particularly in flower.. ill set the rez pH to 5.8 (5.9 or 6 in flower), and won't readjust till i get to 6.2.. anywhere in between is fine by me and my girls. I like to think that i am utilizing the swing to more effectively uptake different minerals/nutrients as it swings.

also recommend grabbing the nutrient calc. and running the numbers for something that works for you already then putzing with jacks numbers... here's a screenshot of some V+B vs. jacks numbers

i looked thru past couple pages and didn't see any pics, don't know if you shared any.
if it looks like mag.. try to treat just that first.. foliar some epsom, add some to feed..
if it's both, then sure, add calmag.. but crunch numbers, only reason i don't recommend it is because you already have the cal nit and epsom.. thats all calmag is.. if you crunch the numbers you don't need to buy the bottle... idk, bottles make me feel like i don't have control.

Thx Tyson.

I actually just switched to a 1:1 ratio tonight and bumped up the ppm to 800(400ppm of each). See how that works out.

I'll post another update in 5-6 days on the progress.

I thank I'm going to ditch this biomin calcium because of the organic nitrogen it has a bad smell and replace it with NPK industry calmag powder.

I try to keep my k, ca and mg ratios incheck. But it's hard to do with calcium nitrate alone. You can't back off the n without losing ca once you get into flower good.

No AG I need to reduce the Nitrate in bloom without losing Calcium. That biomin does that. I only use Calcium nitrate from veg to the end of stretch.

So after stretch I switch from 15.0.0 calcium nitrate over to 5.0.0 calcium biomin. That way I can keep my calcium levels the same while reducing the nitrate in bloom.

Also the gypsum will not work because it's
hydrophobic doesn't dissolve very well in water. And I make stock concentrated Solutions so I need a form of calcium that is easily dissolvable in water.

E-CA-10 could work but would add to much NA+

poor solubility is different than hydrophobic. "Maximum solubility 2 grams per liter or 7.7 grams per gallon"- a solution grade gypsum over at customhydronutrients

Ok so almost a week after trying this and the verdict is...New plants slowly turning yellow and old plants still yellow as fuck. I don't get it.

This week I'm going to go back to the 1:67 ratio and gonna add some GH Cal/mag. If that doesn't work I'm done with Jacks and going back to AN, unfortunately. Certainly can't say I didn't try.
