Hey There Fellow IC'er's,
I Have a Question for All IC mag Members, Although i think this one is for Breeders as they are more likely to have experience with different types of weird anomylies!

My Question is this!

Q: Can Cannabis (The Plant) Produce Phantom Male Flowers that never produce Pollen.?- or Strerile Male Pollen Sacks?

I have seen Phantom Seeds & fake/false seed pods myself and i'm sure i have read that Cannabis can also produce sterile male Pollen Sacks, is this True and has anyone on ICmag ever heard of or experienced this unusual anomylie?

Thanks in advance for your time People!

Peace & Respect...Scroger'

Sorry Mods i was'nt sure where to place this thread, please feel free to move it to the correct place, im sure you guys will! Thanks

Hey Scrogerman

I found this thread while searching for info on a wierd growth at the apex of my female chrystal, now in her 6th week of flowering. Your OP seemed to describe something similar. It is a hull or pod of some kind, but it not growing very rapidly. The plant is my last, so I would like to save her.

I had two girls but the other, which had been LST'd and had about 6 colas, turned hermie and started pushing out nanners all over. Both plants were subject to heat in the summer, maybe the stress affected the other one. Oddly, the growth on the other started in the same way, with a pod on the apex of the cola was bigger, rounder, and a kind of beige color. But all colas were affected and then the nanners started appearing all over. I reluctantly terminated that plant.

If your idea is correct, then it is possible that a plant that had some stress might put out a false male pollen pod with nothing inside. Like hey anything can happen with mixed gender plants, right? I attach a photo of the plant with the pointy little pod at the apex. Any help would be welcome, any experiences with this kind of thing?

LOL, im obsessed with winning. again your talking outa your arse and cant admit defeat, its simply idiotic, your a disgrace to scotland. FEMALE CANNABIS PLANTS WILL PRODUCE MALE FLOWERS WHEN UNDER STRESS _ ITS A FACT BUDDY. GET OVER IT- ADMIT THE TRUTH, YOUR MAKLING YOURSELF SOUND LIKE SOME SORT OF OBSESSED FOOL! I STARTED THIS THREAD. YOUVE PROBABLY RUINED IT NOW & I SHOULD REPORT YOU FOR TROLLING BUT I AINT THAT SORT OF GUY. LOL I have acted impeccably & held back with offensive language i anit into your bullshit anymore. No your saying Female Cannabis cant produce male flowers when under stress, give it up & stop making a complete idiot of yourself!
DID YOU READ THE BOTTOM PARAGRAPH IN POST 12? this is what i been trying to get at also all along, Sheesh, people cant even have a honest opinion these days, some jerk-off jock trolling IC now, What an idiot.!

This is complete rubbish, Stress will cause a female plant to hermie, ever heard of Selfing you idiot! have you ever heard of light stressing and the effects it has! just wait for the bomb to drop buddy!

I think the point was, a female is female until it pops a nanner. Then is a hermi. Unless it self identifies as male I guess in today's culture.

Okay. Thanks for that. I wasn't asking if mine is a female. She most definitely is. But what is that funny little pod at the apex after 5+ weeks of flowering? Is your answer: Not to worry, if it isn't hermie it's ok, cut it off? Just concerned cutting it will trigger some undesired response...

Sorry Emeraldo, I wasn't responding to you. I just read the first page and there was a lot of weird back and forth going on, that lowered my IQ for sure.

I would love to see a better picture. From what I can tell, that is a male sac that has yet to open.......Not a banana. I would pluck it and be careful discarding it. Keep an eye out for more.

Thanks Foothill. The growth was maybe 3/16 of an inch tall. I had to take that photo through a magnifying glass.

I watched that sac over the next day or two after posting the photo. It did not grow much, but did look like it was getting a bit fatter. I finally cut it off carefullly and sprayed the apex area with water.

Inside the outer shell material were two bright yellow fingers that looked like immature nanners. Small, maybe 1/8 inch long. As you said, these likely were male pollen sacs developing. Am watching out for more.

But for my next grow I will change a few things. I had two really beautiful girls this year, but the heat got to them. One went completely hermie on me, and the other did this. I think this was due to the heat. There is terra cotta tile in the outdoor grow area, and when the sun beats down on a hot day, I think the tile gets too hot for the roots (the 30-liter pots sat on the tile). I will do something to keep the pots off the hot tile next year. Something like a wooden crate to keep the roots cooler, to allow air flow under the plants.
