~A Little Problem~

Strain- Purple Bastard ( Thankyou Jaws)

Medium- Soil ( Roaring Brook Organic Potting soil )

PH- At an even 7.0

Temp- currently reading 75.5 F (Lights on), drops to about 70-71 (Lights off).

Humidity- 52%

Distance from bulb- 18 1/2 inches.

wattage- 250 w MH

Lights on/off- (18/6)

Water PH- Do not know..also I am using tap water and always keep the water I am using at room temperature..I usually use distilled water but I wanted to give the tap a run..

Watering schedule- Every 5-6 days..(Added about 30-40% perlite) and I notice that even after 5-6 days the top of the soil 2 inches down is bone dry but if I pick the pot up the soil underneath is wet..I water lightly then wait a minute then water one more time just to ensure water slighty runs out of the bottom..I did over-water accidentally in the beginning but I then gave it about a week to dry out under the sun..

I have a fan blowing across the bulb and I also have a small tower fan next to the plant and is oscillating to circulate airflow and strengthen the stem..I have a window open close by which brings in the fresh air..

Ok so here we go..I've really never had problems with seedlings..But you live
and learn. I have been monitoring this problem for the past 3-4 days and today I felt it was time to visit the infirmary.Below are a few pics, sorry about the blurry photos..( cam wasn't focused properly )..

(Pic 1)- If you click this pic you can see where I pointed out the ''folding'' of the leaves almost like a taco if you will..I also circled the tips where the green is fading and eventually yellowing..(Don't mind the gash in the leaf tip, I dropped the thermometer when taking the pic lol). Also notice the first leaves to emerge after the cotyledon..They went completely yellow so I gave them a small small dosage of bio grow ( diluted of course) thinking it was needing a quick feeding..(Usually I dont give seedlings any food until the 4-5 node or until the cotyledon yellow and wither) ( which they actually are at this size)

Here are two more pics of my baby PB..

If anyone has had this happen before or knows what may be the problem I would appreciate the help greatly..Stitch? MTF? Anyone out there?

Thankyou in advance

Peace

Usually leaves rolling up like that is a transpiration issue...the plant is trying to slow down the uptake by the roots so that it'll prevent moisture loss due to one of the following:

1. Heat
2. Excessive wind
3. Excessive nutes - the plant will sometimes try to regulate it's nute uptake this way
4. Low RH

There's probably a few other causes (I think this was a sticky thread back on OG if anyone has it saved) but I'm doubting heat or RH is the cause.

:D I appreciate the help very much..Just to take precautions after reading this I moved the tower fan back about 10 inches and turned it to the right as to not directly smother the plant with too much wind for now to see what happens..Also, I could have possibly over-fed even with the small amount that I used because the leaves were not cupping before I fed but the yellowing was getting worse hence, the reason I felt it was lack of N..While I was moving the fan I noticed a black spot right on the vein of one leaf, around the cut that was made by the thermometer falling and the actual teeth of the leaf where I circled the yellowing has a black ring around it now...Possible nute burn setting in? Some of the teeth are standing up slightly..Also, the new growth that was emerging that was not cupping but had slight yellowing along the edges has one of those spots as well..

Thanks sproutco..See a few of these things ran across my mind before I posted here..Ph..transpiration..but I just wanted to be sure..get a second opinion..I really don't want to make a move until someone knows exactly whats going on..I mean I have had many plants grow fine at an even 7 but then again some didn't..I will lower the ph today..possibly aim between 6.5-6.8...Off to find the lemon juice :chin: ( just gave it a thorough watering and added lemon juice, PH read 6.6-6.7 so time will tell)

Peace

wen u changed the water,to tap,u changed the chemstry of soil.if u werent organic id say just add some osmocote 19-6-12,its ph is 6.5,then u wud not have to adjust ph of water.not all osmocotes like, dont buy the veg. type, cuz its ph is 7.4... or lik h said adjust water down.the osmcote works with prfert. soils as wellas pro-mix.,even durin revegatating a plant,i am not promting it, :pointlaug ,but its easy to especially with water ph 7.0-7.4...marksurfs used it at og...peace m :yoinks: ooons/ :dueling: :yoinks: mooonss

Use white vinegar for ph down instead of lemon juice. If your mix is soil, don't go higher than 6.5. If it is essentially soilless, made up of peatmoss and bark, don't go higher than 6.2.

Thanks Core..Yeah I usually water them every 5-6 days (depending on soil)..I let them dry out a bit as to not starve the roots of oxygen but at the same time not to let the roots go without for too long..I wanted to run the PB in promix but the only store somewhat close to me did not have any in stock they had to order it for me by the bale..I wanted to get started right away so I went with Roaring Brook Organic which I used for my last indoor and one of my outdoor runs and never had a problem..This time around I think they rushed it to get it out on shelves because the texture doesnt even seem the same..Just working with what I have on hand for right now..I'm not giving up on it..I'll ride this out and hopefully pull through in the end..your positive energy is very much appreciated..Take it easy and thanks for stopping by..
