a little help from my friends

that's right...just like Ringo Starr, I get high with a little help from my friends.
That's the theme of this thread.
Certainly I've purchased many fine beans through Seeds Direct, but for this grow, I've only used genetics that I've gotten from IC friends.
I know I'm a bit behind everyone else here, but I FINALLY got those G13s from JLP rollin that everyone else grew out LAST year. (cook's a slowass)
and I also used some beans I acquired in a swap with another family member. Those beans include KGB and Sour Bubble BX2.
So, I've got 6 females here, about to go 12/12 in the coming week.
4 are the g13, 1 KGB, 1 Sour Bubble. I was pretty happy with the germ results on this batch. First off, no germ problems with the SB BX2 like some reported, and out of 10 beans I started, I got 6 fems, 2 dudes, 1 still unkown (bein mysterious on me) and 1 other unkown that I managed to kill by fault of my own.
I shot the following pics just a day or two ago. This was just before I transplanted into their final pots.
Let's look at some pics, shall we?
First...the group shot of my bunch o ladies...

in that first pic you can really see how dark green, damn near blue the SB's leaves are compared to the others. She keeps threatening to go purple on me :smile:

early in veg phase, I did a good bit of LST thanks to the motivation of Cap's thread. This REALLY helped to get some size on those lower branches. Here is a fine example of that. This is a KGB, unfortunately I believe it's a dude, but it's the one I have currently listed as unkown.




next, a shot of one of the lovely healthy G13s.....



A closeup of some Sour bubble leaves...indica-licious!


This sour bubble fem is quite the short little shrub. She refuses to put on any more verticle growth, and just keeps packin on tons of growth down low. VERY tight internodal spacing, short, bushy, nice!

yeah buddy. I'll be sure to do a bit o LST on all my crops in the future.
I gotta say, these girls are all pretty stinky for only being in veg. They're gonna make with the tasty, potent buds!
This sour Bubble is really looking like it's gonna be a beaut. glad I have clones of all these. In keeping with the friends theme, I believe I'm going to give a buddy of mine one of my G13 clones to get him jump started in his first grow. Gotta spread the love and get us all self sufficient with the quality smoke.

did you notice very slow growth at first with the sourbubble?....all my sprouts are huge compaired to them...

Issack, at first I thought the growth was slow, as the SB is considerably shorter than the others like the G13, but in looking at it up close it has a LOT more branches and is a much thicker shrub than the others. so I think it was packin on that lower growth rather than height.If all those side branches produce decent sized nugs, she'll bring in a good bit at harvest for the shorty girl she is. Your results may vary. :smile: but as far as the shape, the color, the smell...she is lookin for a strong finish! This should be fun.

After slowly cranking back my lights over the past few weeks, I just flipped em to 12/12 last night. They knew it was coming and are starting to pucker up, as they were down to about 13.5 hours before last night anyhow.
Tick tick tick tick .... waiting for the nugs :smile:
This is the fun part.
They're looking so nice and healthy. I'm confident this will be a good run.

so you slowly turn the lights from 18-6 to 12-12?? HUH never heard that before. Do you notice any advantages to your 'light regime' over standard. 18-6 one day then 12-12 the next?

From what I've seen (and maybe I'm just trippin and imagining it....only a moderately experienced grower here) When I've flipped em from 18/6 to 12/12, it sometimes takes a week or two to start showing flowers (not always the case, some strains faster than others). In knockin an hour or two off every other day over the last week or so, they've started to start showing more hairs at the pre-flowers. I haven't looked at em since I flipped to 12/12, but I bet tonight they're really pushin em out, just in those 2 days. Just mere speculation on this cook's part, but it seems to work for me.

8 days later...

within 2-3 days of goin 12/12, they were pushin out white hairs everywhere.
It became immediately apparent that I had a case of "dude looks like a lady"
I'm ususally pretty good at IDing pre-flowers, but I had one male trick me into transplanting it. It got removed to another area so I'll have some G13 pollen for science fun later :smile:
So I now have 4 G13s and 1 Sour bubble in flower.
These shots were taken 8 days into 12/12.
