Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry about your loss ,, i had a Siamese for about 14 years , he was not an animal ,, he was human , better than a human

i got so attached ,, i swore to myself ill never get a Siamese again ..

thats so weird because a friend of mine lost his cat and he would say the same thing. That he would hear the cat walking around. or hear him doing stupid little things like clawing the couch. kinda weird

... i am going through a similar tough time with my beloved puss.. he has a tumer the size of a golf ball on his head. it has spread over his eye and made him blind.. he coughs a lot and blood sprays out of his nose.. he seems in no pain -yet, but when he starts to suffer i will have to take him for his hot shot..
My cat was purr fectly happy and well before the vet got his hands on him and gave him too much anneasthetic after a minor op.. - he has been waisting away ever since..
it seems a licence to print money being a vet imo.. i had to pay a lot of money - $200 for each blood test.. $50 a month on heart pills - the op caused him to have an overactive thiriod, which in turn made his heart beat really fast.. they know how much we love our animal friends, and take advantage by charging sky high prices.. they want $80 to put him down even.. - when it was them that f****d him up in the first place..
i have been giving him a little pollen to help him chill.. he goes through about 1.5 g a week.. the old stoner..
i know his time is nearly over, and it will grately sadden me when the fatefull day comes.
It will be a long lonely winter without him ...

oh dear lord .. as i was reading this i was thinking about my 3 cats .. i really mean this from the bottom of my hart .. i feel so deep for ya .. i wished there was something i can say to cheer you up ..so i'll say this .. it is better to love and lose than to have never loved at all .. im sure you will not find ant retreat to this .. but it is all i can say .. and i hope you will remember you cat forever !!!

I believe cat heaven is a beautiful place. He'll surely feel at home there. No sickness, no worries. My cats will join him some day. I'll feel sorrow too.

But shouldn't we rejoice? Maybe it's just been their another step on the way to enlightenment?

... my cat turned up on my back door step 3 years ago.. the very day my girlfriend left out of the front door.. he has been my closest friend since. Strangley, i have now just met someone else.. perhaps he knows ill be ok now.. he did his job in seeing me through a sad time.. and i rewarded him with all the food and effection he loves..
I will not go out and purchase another cat.. if one turns up and needs looking after then so be it..
He has a great many human friends here..they will all miss him..
Cats are very special beings.. they should be respected and loved..
My thoughts are with anyone who has lost a loved one..
its nice to see so many kind comments..

Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is the way of life and death that isnt death.

My pets are a part of me and when one passes it rips my heart out. My love for my pets doesn't die though and I dont get pets to comfort me.

I get them to be of comfort and care for them as part of my lifes service. Just like raising children.

My pets have proven many things to me and the validity of nam myoho renge kyo is one of the things they taught. But the way they taught me wasnt by coming to me when chanting. They always do and they purr or nuzzle as they feel the love.

When my pet dies I go find him or her again. They are accompanying me as I search for them. They follow faithfully until I locate a suitable litter. Then my dog incarnates into one of the puppies. I step into the pen and one male puppy will invariable sit on my foot and hold on tenaciously. This pup is always a male and he always does this. My dog has come back to me several times now and he is a powerful being of great love and strength. Indeed he may be in fact my Gaurdian Angel. I know he would do anything for me including dying and he has.

My cat and my cats are also very interesting. My Tom cat has been killed prematurely many times as he is very intelligent, bold and curious. I had beenw without my tomcat for some time. I only have one tomcat. Well I found this female abandoned kitty. You see I do what a buddhist would do when it comes to animals. I took her to a vet and spent several hundred dollars to get her fixed up. She had been abandoned pregnant very young and she has lost her litter. Her uterus was infected. The first day I saw her at a popular river site she wouldnt come to me. Something made me go back the next day though. She came to me then and allowed me to save her life.

She loved me for it but she was run over on a Thanksgiving not too long after I had found her. This was sad but I decided she wanted to be with me and I missed her so I found an ad for kittens. I know she was with me as I picked out a male that looked exactly like her. On the ride home I told him his name and he meowed approvingly. I have my tomcat back now and he is the one. Funny the way he returned to me this time though.

So if you have read all this you must think I am nutz but my advice is to replace a lost pet immediately because your pet might be waiting to return to you. You are the master of your minions and they love you as much as you love them so don't doubt their loyalty. A dog is mans best friend and a good cat is no different really. The relationship is in the mind anyways and your best friends dont ever leave you unless they have to.

My pets return to me and they even remember some things they learned in their past lives. My dog is so very advanced now that I feel he will move up to the human level if he hasnt in a previous life already. My dog even disapproves of certain behaviors I am not supposed to partake in. BOG

Such dear and wonderful people.

You have all brought so much peace to my being with your wonderful words of compassion and hope.

I was able to arrange for a kick-ass service to come and pick F.T.C. up and take him off for a proper cremation. I expect his ashes back tomorrow.

These will be scattered under our giant oak. One of his favorite places to lay when he escaped from the house. He deserves that freedom for his old spirit.


So many people to thank for their kindness. While I personally do not know any of you, you all mean so much to me.

Rez, God's special blessings to you and esecially your mom. I've been praying for her and will continue to do so. Also, please know that your special Bottle Rocket has been such a help during this.

BOG, dear man, your words do sometimes run long, but their meanings always run very deep and true. I always take the time to read them all. I thank you. My remaining Grape Punch went up in smoke this weekend and its wonderful anti-anxiety properties helped me make the cremation arrangements on Sunday morning.

i feel the same way, lost my precious labrador buffy last night.
she died in my arms.she was 9 years old and had a heart of gold.
took her down to the field and buried her at midnight.
the craziest thing was my other dog an italian maremano followed me along the way,watched me digging for an hour and gave her a big kiss before i covered her, i swear i saw a tear coming down from his eye
