A Harvest Master "Fast Flowering" Grow Show

NiteTiger,

Yeah the only problem with side-by-side comparisons it the fact that the control method is usually something the grower is real familar with. I'm not sure if you notice alot of the time when a grower tries something new, it often doesn't go that well and thus the grower returns old ways. Well I think that because with every new twist there IS a learning curve. Same goes for a new strain. It takes a bit to dial shit in. This yeild will be better then the last and so on.

AbaZabba,

Um do I know you?

Moppel,

There was NO 12/12 on this run.

Ixnay007,

Then you prolly end up watching a bunch of my threads. I love trying new stuff. I'm actually doing this to write an artical that will hopefully get published so that I can do more guiena pig stuff.

no , but i mean that before you tried this light schedule you have grown this plant before, right? so my question is : How many days less did the plants flower with the 18 hour light schedule?

Heya Cosmic,
No, don't think you know me personally but I read alot of stuff on AN and read up on your first trial with the altered light schedule and your current one over there because it is something that definately interests me; if I can push out two more cycles a year with little to no yeild loss I'm definately game to try :) I was just re-reading your previous thread and remembered the cacti button and it brought back many old fun memories

Can't wait to see how this one pans out with all the new equipment :smoker:

As power where I live is not cheap, anything that will allow for reduced power costs without sacrificing quality (quantity I can take a hit on, my days of stoned 24/7 are over) is of great interest to me.

Plus, there's the whole idea of seeing exactly what can be done under such controlled conditions. I had one question though, you ran on your first grow 18 hour days (6.40 on 12 off) is there any reason besides continuity that you decided on such long nights? Would (as an out of thin air example) 6/9, or even 6/6 work as well, or does the plant need a certain amount of night to build up the flowering hormones? I haven't read as much as I could on the subject, but I've never been clear on whether the dark was a fixed minimum (say at least 12 hours) or just a percentage (50% or greater) of the total amount recieved..

Do you have any wisdom to dispense on that subject (if of course you have a few free minutes to waste on me :) )

Moppel,

Ok yeah I've grown the Bubba Kush before and it's a 56 day strain, AKA 8 weeks. It reaches the same maturity in 6 weeks or 42 Days. Hope that answers your question better.

ixnay007,

I can honestly say IF quantity isn't an issue the the 18 hour day works for quality bud. I've had a few growers smoke my last run and ALL loved it and say they couldn't tell it was grown with only half the light and 3/4 of the days. If you got a good pheno it will stay good!!!

The reason for the 12 hours of darkness is this is one of the things that triggers flowering.

ok, got it. So if i get it right they quality stays the same. flowering time is shorter. and the yield is lower. How much lower?

Moppel,

I'm not sure about the yeild and the previous experiemnt there were a few things that could have led to the smaller yeild. This time around they are looking like there won't be much loss in yeild.

Day 18

my dick moved at the site of all those clean lookin ladys, nothing like a clean and sleek looking room, although if you do it right (which I'm sure you will) it will look like the amazon in there when you are through with it all.

Mampi,

I can't confirm anything to do with yeild right now. The first experiment was to see if the 18 hour day would work. That it does. Now I'm working on getting the yeild up. I do believe that on a yearly basis yeilds will be higher on this schedule.

The reason for the 12 hours of darkness is this is one of the things that triggers flowering.

The reason I ask about 12 hours of dark is that people who outdoor grow primarily (like me) know that 12 hours of dark is just a convenient number..

For example where I am right now, there's still 13 and a half hours between sunrise and sunset, which means 10 and a half hours of dark, and I have plants that have been flowering for a few weeks...

12 is just a nice easy way to divide a day when your whole light cycle is under control.
