mornin campers...
wasn't much of a snow event yesterday...and temps will be in the 50's by tomorrow...must be about time to fire up the swamp coolers again!
ok,maybe a little early for that, but there's a fair chance that was the last cold snap of the year already...
so,last week we had 4 people from out of town start the monumental loop including someone who has finished the tour divide,a 2700 mile mountain bike race starting in canada and ending at the mexican border as well as many rides of the dirty kanza,a 200 mile dirt/mud road ride in kansas...at any rate, somewhat of a badass...
the toll, one broken arm,so 2 guys abandon on the first day,the other two left a couple days later, got 2 days, and about 110 miles into the route and abandoned their attempt...one of our local badass ladies was riding along with them on her second trip around the loop...
so i'm thinking i will do a fast and dirty version of the monumental loop next year...no camping,i would ride about half the northern section the first day,get a motel room, then power out the second half the next day and be back in town so stay at home, then another night in a hotel, and back to town on the 4th day...
basically 75 miles a day,no camping gear wearing the bike down, probably be able to get away with just 4 water bottles and a fanny pack for food...
