Really like the light spread, I was worried the boards were too far apart but it looks like a nice even 6x6 foot print from 600 watts. I'll get a meter on it for a real look see.

wouldn't it be better to have those closer to the top of the canopy? they look like they are sitting in the nose bleed section.

I'd figure they would be like any other light. The further the light is, the less intense the light.

They are about 30" above the canopy. I have an app and the formula to figure out he par values. I'll do that this weekend and adjust accordingly.
It's been my experience that the light these boards produce is too intense for to use the rule of thumb in distance. I've gotten bleached tops at 12" from the boards. The first ones I built the plants went from 630 de cmh light to 600 watts of quantum boards and I got par stress at 24".

Here's Four Eagle Scout I'm running from clone for the first time. Started from seed months back. I have five females, one is off to the side as a satellite plant.

seed runs

seed runs

That's awesome that for what you do for a living, that you still take time do seed runs looking for that next keeper.

Lazy day here for me.....

Gotta keep popping seeds. It is cumbersome when I could just keep running nice cuts from others but in this market in Michigan where everyone is either growing GMO Cookies or Wedding Cake having a killer exclusive cut is priceless.

Morning all.

Its been that way here for awhile. Growing the same as everyone else is useless. Competition is fierce. Many are not sharing there cuts anymore for that reason.

it works out ok for me since i end up selling the bulk of my weed to other growers...if need be i could always just specialize in varieties that take more than 10 weeks to flower since all the bigger grows i see around here 10 weeks is stretching their patience to the snapping point...

if the whole hemp farm thing goes through then i will go back to seed popping on a personal scale, pheno hunting is way more fun than clone farming...

:tumbleweed:mornin campers...

i was gonna go do laundry today but ended up sleeping in pretty late so i think it's best if i mostly fuck around today:smoker:

got a few errands to run, mostly just going to the used bookstore and getting a couple of new books...

possibly a big ride tomorrow, there may be a 100 mile ride in the works...not sure if i'm up for that much time in the saddle, maybe a 100km,but not a 100 miles...

got a bunch of bike stuff to do today....bikes to clean, and parts to swap around...almost as good as getting new parts:)

You're keeping busy :) I'm optimistic that good bud will always have a home. We get riled up and kind of scared sometimes about the big business part, but if it is paying your bills good for you.

We can see the talk of the billion dollar investors lining up now. As a skilled cultivator you should not really feel threatened or at odds with construction workers or general labourers growing cannabis. No offence intended it is what it is. This idea or concept is timeless. Any single one of us can feel threatened or fear being replaced by a robot, or cheap labour, an immigrant, or a younger "more educated" person. The fact remains however, if you are a skilled valuable worker, you are in a good position.

Nobody makes a robot to replace the smartest person involved or to figure out the most difficult challenges, at least not yet. If you are the person that the robot or labourer replaced then it means you have value doing something which the others are unable or maybe unwilling to. Ev eryone is not or cannot be a master grower and many places are unwilling or unable to afford (or find, maybe afford is the wrong word) a master grower. That's a quandary independent people may be difficult to work with for any amount. If you have personal connections even better. Some say don't mix business and personal but I would take a chance on someone I trust vs working for a stranger. The cheapskate factory farm will likely keep pushing in its own direction.

Some large scale grows are trying to have the best cheapest product but they are also hiring low wage labour for the most part. Quality is at odds with profit and this is where the business people will argue because they wish to extract paper money from everything including people. Cutting corners to grow your business to help more people in the long run mainly sounds like a sales pitch to me. Hence the big question happy customers and happy employees can you have both?

A dealer can let everything go just above cost. Many people like that and some people maybe do not like that. This is more of a sharing or spread the love approach as you will probably move more product if you lower the price. Partners might not exactly fight even though business strategies can be pretty different. Some will reason that it is different when a person is in a situation where they need the money to survive, compared to a trust fund kid or college student selling pot for a stash or extra spending money. Generous and greedy can be on a spectrum but generally I don't think people jump from one side all the way to the other.

On this topic - a grower selling to a consumer for cost is what the laws are against. The entire regulatory structure is completely built on creating a business out of a middle man in between the customer and the grower. I'm repeating myself but a home grower can supply consumers with higher quality product at no markup. The best connoisseur high grade while at the same time cutting out about 80%+ of the cost due to needless middle parties.

I should get a bicycle. Mine is pretty crusty but they seem to be at least $1k for something decent.

unless you're going to be riding a lot theres no need for an expensive bike...of course what i think of as expensive and what most people would think of as expensive are two different things...i have sets of wheels that cost over a 1000 bucks, but i also find myself miles out in the desert fairly frequently where having something break would be bad...
